@Mellous aww I’m sorry to hear it’s come back negative today, I hope you’re not feeling too gutted. I’m not sure I’ll ever fully trust a pregnancy test again after the experiences ladies on here have been having!! Fingers crossed your period arrives soon and you can start trying with a fresh cycle xx

Mellous · 12/02/2021 09:25

@AMS19 Thank you, I'm ok! Just want to be able to start a fresh new cycle. Come on af!

I've never tracked my temps before, think I'd like to start next cycle but a complete newbie. What do I need to buy / do?!

As ever thanks for all of your advice everyone

glowingtwig · 12/02/2021 09:33

@Mellous hope AF shows soon.
BFN for me today too. Hoping that AF comes bang on time tomorrow now.

AMS19 · 12/02/2021 09:35

@Mellous I find tracking temps super helpful. I finally got a temp rise today which is a good sign.

You need ot buy a Basel thermometer (2 d.p). You then need to take your temp at the same time every more as soon as you wake up. You might need an alarm if you tend to wake up different times, although you can adjust the odd temp if it's earlier/later using a website.
Essentially, post ovulation your temp will increase. This will therefore confirm ovulation has happened as its the release of progesterone that causes the temp rise. If you look back I posted a picture of my chart from my pregnancy a couple of days ago explaining how it worked and as an example of the pattern you would expect to see. It's not about the actual temps, but the pattern you're looking for! Let me know if you have any questions and I'll try help xx

@SuzieDeLaTour thank you! I’m feeling okay just wish my period would hurry up!

@glowingtwig sorry you’re also getting bfn! Is this your first period since mc?

I’m wondering when to expect mine. It’s been 32 days since surgery. My cycles pre pregnancy were quite long around 34. I’m hoping this means period could be due on next couple of days?!

AMS19 · 12/02/2021 09:38

So sorry @glowingtwig 👎 hopefully that lucky egg is just still developing nice and ready for the next cycle

EPU finally called me back and have told me to go back in Tuesday for a scan. Which is great because hopefully I'll have my blood test results back by then too so between the 2 can see what's going on! My temp went up today, so if it stays up for another 2 days then it should show I did get my peak Wednesday and just missed it and ovulated yesterday 🤞🤞🙏🙏 the scan should be able to confirm ovulation or not too xx

@Mellous I'm sorry for the rollercoaster but hoping for a fresh cycle to try again soon!

AF hit me this morning! Not sure if I had an anovulatory cycle or just really low LP temps and a short LP.... Whatever the answer, hopefully it was just a one off due to the MMC and this fresh cycle is more 'normal'!

Was really a shock to see blood when I went to the toilet this morning as I was still half expecting I might be yet to ovulate! Kind of sat there for a few mins just staring. I guess it's normal to feel shock though as the last time I saw blood was for the MC so it's probably still quite a strong association. Definitely feeling all the feelings this morning.

But I treated myself to a brownie for breakfast (why the fuck not?) So I've had worse mornings 😂

Mellous · 12/02/2021 09:44

@AMS19 thanks so much for that. I'm looking at one on Amazon 'Fermometer', think I'll get it on prime.. another thing for me to obsess over haha.

Brill that your temp increased, fingers crossed for you for this month then! Hopefully bloods and scan will confirm things for you next week xx

PlantMummy87 · 12/02/2021 09:47

@Mellous hopefully a fresh new cycle will come around soon. Hopefully not being in uncertainty now at least gives you a bit of relief.

@Ralala I've used a variety of opk tests before (before we started ttc I used Natural Cycles for 4yrs to prevent and would OPKs for this). I used the One Step opk for years and they are completely fine and did the job for me, when I started ttc I got a clear blue advanced (but they are pricey though and would only use these when opk when going up). After mc I brought easy@home tests. For this fresh cycle since mc I've been using the One Step alongside the easy@home ones to compare as I was worried that as if I swapped over I wouldn't know what to look out for on the easy@home ones. For me the easy@home ones seem to pick up a line much easier for me that the one step and easier to scan into Premom app, but equally the One Step ones worked fine. Not sure why I switched over tbh 🤦🤷 just me being a bit irrational I think after the mc.

Does anyone else do BBT? I've noticed since mc my temps have dropped. I used to be around 36.00°c pre ovulation and then rise to around 36.30°c-36.40°c post ovulation, but my temps this month pre ovulation have been lower at around 35.60°c-35.90°c and I think having ovulated risen to around 36.20°c. Just worried that my temp hasn't risen enough to confirm ovulation?

Mellous · 12/02/2021 09:51

@LauraT94 thanks love, very jealous of your brownie breakfast.. its friday after all :)

How long post mc are you? I'm still waiting for my period! I can imagine the blood brings it all back though xx

AMS19 · 12/02/2021 09:57

@LauraT94 I'm sorry you're period arrived but also really pleased for you to be in a fresh cycle! Everything is now reset and ready for you to start properly. Brownie needed and deserved. You can also drink for V day guilt and worry free!

@Mellous that's the one I have and it's great!

@PlantMummy87 yes!! Pre ovulation used to be 36.50-35.70 and this time they've been 36.35-36.55! Very odd. My temp rose today to 36.72 which would have been more pre-O before!

@Mellous I've known I was going to miscarry since New Years, but I had my MVA on the 14th Jan. So 4 weeks yesterday! Xx

@AMS19 thanks! ❤️ I've 'treated' myself to FF premium and I'm really glad I did as I think my RHR has confirmed that I've ovulated at least! Roll on my next fertile window haha, should be around the end of the month hopefully!! Xx

AMS19 · 12/02/2021 10:06

@LauraT94 oh yeah that definitely looks like ovulation! Great stuff. You're going to have a great cycle now and a fresh new lining for a perfect embryo xx

PlantMummy87 · 12/02/2021 10:20

Thanks @AMS19 that's super helpful to know. Sorry I wrote the message and posted and then realised that whilst I was writing the message you were talking about BBT 🤦 I hope your scan goes well and you get your blood results. I definitely feel having a final scan really reassured me. Hope your temps stay high to confirm ovulation for you.

@LauraT94 sorry to hear about your period coming, definitely can bring back those feelings of shock. It all sounds positive that you were able to confirm ovulation so that this new cycle you know your body is back in the swing of things! Brownie for breakfast sounds like a great plan!

TheDaydreamBelievers · 12/02/2021 10:44

@LauraT94 Sorry to hear AF got you! My first AF after surgery was definitely odd. It was also only like 6 days after ovulation so definitely weird luteal phase!

CocoLoco88 · 12/02/2021 11:13

Hi everyone! Well I think I have finally stopped bleeding, touch wood! Happily the hospital confirmed at the scan that everything has passed as well.

Feel very relieved that it seems to be all done but now a bit like... now what? 🤷‍♀️

Like some others here I’m interested in working out how to track ovulation/temps etc but am a total newbie to this so I have been reading everyone’s posts with interest, thanks so much for all the tips!! Bought some cheapie OPKs just for the hell of it when I bought my last round of pregnancy tests but think I need to work out where to start... x

AMS19 · 12/02/2021 11:33

@CocoLoco88 glad you've got the all clear and can start to move forward. With OPKs, test once a day at around 4pm. Try to hold your urine for a long as possible and not to drink many fluids before. When you start to see a line start testing twice a day to try and catch your "peak". Scan them into premom app and it will give you a score (equivalent to a %). A low reading means no surge, a high score shows a surge is starting and a peak score means you're about to ovulate. A temp rise the day or two after confirms ovulation has happened. I'd start testing at around CD5/CD6 just because you don't know when you might start to surge xx

Seasalt1984 · 12/02/2021 12:04

I've only been using OPKs and keeping an eye on EWCM and not temping... but all this chat about BBT is making me want to get involved! 😄

I'm hoping to get OPK peak tomorrow or Sunday based on past experience (although who knows after MC!) so will give it a miss this month. But if no joy this cycle I'll def start tracking next cycle as all part of the picture re what's going on with our bodies isn't it...

@ams19 will you be having a few V day drinks? We're not really into it normally but as life is on hold we thought we'd do a fancy meal this year... just don't want to impact anything around ovulation but want to relax and go with the for too! Argh, so much to stew on! 🤪

AMS19 · 12/02/2021 12:10

@Seasalt1984i must say I do quite enjoy completing my chart and monitoring the temps! If I get another temp rise tomorrow and Sunday and ovulation is confirmed I won't drink no. I would have otherwise! But if I know I've ovulated I'll be good and stick to the alcohol free rubbish instead. We also aren't big on V day but as you say, nice to actually make an effort for a change. Might even put proper cloths on rather than living in leggings and baggy jumpers 😂😂

*go with the flow

Seasalt1984 · 12/02/2021 12:22

@ams19 haha yes I was thinking about searching the depths of my wardrobe for something other than leggings!! Hmm well I'll see what the OPKs do and decide on the day...

Jam291 · 12/02/2021 13:42

Hi all, sorry I have been reading but not replying mentally I just needed to, hope that makes sense. I’ve gone back to work which helped as I found it distracted me from over thinking.
Can anyone help shed some light on my situation.

  • I started bleeding spotting on the 16th jan
  • scan showed heartbeat on the 19th jan
  • heavier bleeding started 21st jan
  • definitely passed sac ( 😔 ) on 23rd jan
  • scan showed all passed / but to expect more bleeding 26th jan
  • bleeding stopped 31st jan

What would you class as CD1?

Hope everyone is ok. — I now also want to start tracking ovulation from reading these previous posts 😂😂xx

TheDaydreamBelievers · 12/02/2021 13:56

@Jam291 they tell you to class the first day of heavier bleeding (so jan 21st for you) BUT the apps are crap with post MC and will be confused and insist your period is v late. The EPU told me not to expect a period for 6 weeks + after MC and can be up to about 10wks or so (mine was 9 weeks in the end). Your temps are also likely to be unusual if you take them.

Jam291 · 12/02/2021 14:03

Oh Thankyou, trying to google it and not getting clear answers.
Weirdly I’m still getting positive pregnancy tests almost two weeks after stopping bleeding and having a scan to see if I had ‘passed’ everything.
All so confusing and stuff when hormones are everywhere isn’t it! Wish I never tested but when I left EPU they gave me a test to do a week after bleeding stopped, which I’ve only just done.
Did do my own IC though, and all positive so weird xx

Scottishskifun · 12/02/2021 14:54

I think hormones can still be all over the place.

We have decided to not TTC for a bit, when I was in the unit first time for checks the midwife said my cervix was inflamed and was asked questions about previous birth etc as there appeared to be some damage (I had a big baby but also a very fast birth not always a good thing for your body!)
My smear test was delayed last year due to covid then pregnancy so now waiting until I can get another and has to be 12 weeks after miscarriage. So we decided best to wait until I can get that done just to be sure.

I also now have a regular counselling session starting. Sleep still isn't great but improving. Thankfully still on slow return to work policy for a few weeks as well.

Plus side we have loads of snow so been enjoying snowy walks which is a bit like resistance training! 😂
