Hi ladies

A few of us got talking on another thread and found having each other in the same boat, whilst devastating, helpful. So here is a little thread so we can stay in touch and support each other through this journey.

Anyone who has recently experienced or is experiencing a MC/MMC please join us. We are just on the start of our journey ❤

I found out I had a MMC on 21st December at 9+5. This was following a scan that showed a baby with a heartbeat 3 weeks earlier. My body hasn't let go at all, with no bleeding, so I'm booked in for surgery tomorrow. The hardest thing waiting over Christmas 💔

@DMT1982 they told me they are gonna try get me in this afternoon. I've gotta have the tablets to loosen the cervix so will start some bleeding either way. So bloody hope it goes ahead later. Gonna be a long day sitting around waiting 😭😭

Reading your messages, ladies! AMS, I'm keeping everything crossed for you and yes definitely a great idea to ask about another trust. Sending you all a big hug XXX

mia2201 · 30/12/2020 10:28

Clearly missed your last message about it most likely going ahead this afternoon. My phone decided not to display page 3 of the thread, sorry! X

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 10:37

@AMS19 that all sounds promising, stay positive, your foots in the door now 😊😊

I’ve had mine done, just come back, feeling ok and waiting on toast and a cuppa. Worst thing was needle in my hand but only because I hate needles. You have absolutely nothing to fear and will be fine. The fact they are prepping you sounds good so hang in there and it’ll be over soon xxxxx

AMS19 · 30/12/2020 10:38

Thanks @mia2201 praying it does go ahead!

@DMT1982 really hoping you're already under right now!!

@DMT1982 ahh your message just loaded. So so glad!!! Amazing you're back out lovely. Hopefully they can get you home ASAP. Are you having antibiotics? I've been told I've gotta have some before I leave xxx

@Redfoxinthesnow thinking of you xx

Phew, DMT! Pleased the procedure is behind you. Take it easy now, lazy day on the sofa today?

AMS, I had 4 antibiotic pills before I left which gave me upset stomach for about 5 days but nothing unmanageable, just frequent loo visits ;) stay hydrated if it happens to you!

Also don't be afraid to ask what's normal in the days after. I had zero bleeding for about 3 days and then almost like a period and some cramping. I think it's just further shedding of the lining and shrinking of the womb. You'll be given a number to your ward so call if you're worried about anything! The aftercare is in place 100%.

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 10:49

@Redfoxinthesnow yes we are all thinking of you please update us whenever you’re ready and able to.

@AMS19 they haven’t mentioned them, I’ve had a drip and just eating tea and toast (sorry you must be starving!) are you on a ward or in a waiting room? Xxx

AMS19 · 30/12/2020 10:52

Thanks @mia2201 that is so helpful to know! They haven't said much about aftercare or what to expect yet, jus that I'll need antibiotics before I can go home.

@DMT1982 bloody starving! They let me have some water earlier cause I was feeling so dizzy. Oh well...could probably do with a bit of a detox post Christmas 😂😂

@DMT1982 pressed send too soon! On a ward. There is a lady with eptopic I think in front of me, then two of us waiting for EP&C xx

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 10:55

@AMS19 exactly, think of the positives 😆 that’s good advice from @MAS50 I will ask that otherwise I just keep saying ‘no questions’ and then I would regret that! I will also ask about antibiotics as well, thanks girls xxx

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 11:01

@AMS19 that’s even better you’re now on a ward, so pleased you are there and haven’t been sent away with tablets. It’s still early in the day so you have lots going in your favour now xxxx

SuzieDeLaTour · 30/12/2020 11:05

Hi ladies,

I’m currently at the EPU awaiting a scan. I have had a lot of lower back pain and bleeding so I’m fully expecting it to be bad news 😢 I had a Miscarriage in 2018 at exactly the same point - 8 weeks + 1 and the exact same symptoms. Feeling very frightened! Reading your stories reminds me of how I felt last time and how I’m feeling now. I think it’s the sheer sense of powerlessness. I am thinking of you all xx

AMS19 · 30/12/2020 11:11

@SuzieDeLaTour I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. Will keep everything crossed it is good news for you. Keep us updated and we will be here to support you if it is bad xx

@DMT1982 I'm so pleased you're recovering and @AMS19 glad it looks like you're going ahead. My appointment is this afternoon so I guess I'll get confirmation then. I found it very hard to sleep last night.

SuzieDeLaTour · 30/12/2020 11:15

@AMS19 thank you so much for your kind words. It’s tough being alone as you’re not allowed anyone with you. I feel like I’m driving myself crazy just sat here waiting 🤦‍♀️ I’ve been booked in as an emergency scan so I think they’ll scan all the pre-booked appointments first. I’ll let you know what happens xx

Redfoxinthesnow · 30/12/2020 11:16

@SuzieDeLaTour I'm sorry that you're on this thread and I hope you get good news. You make a great point about the powerlessness of it all, I think it makes everything so much harder.

SuzieDeLaTour · 30/12/2020 11:17

@AMS19 good luck with your procedure. I can say from having gone through it that as weird as it sounds it does offer some form of “closure” in a strange way as you’re not in that awful limbo and you can try and process everything that’s happened. Thinking of you xx

SuzieDeLaTour · 30/12/2020 11:19

@Redfoxinthesnow thank you so much x

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 11:21

@Redfoxinthesnow it’s an awful waiting game when you have a scan in the afternoon. I remember the only time they could book me in was 2.45pm and it felt time time stood still that day. If you can go out for a walk, eat some junk food or treat yourself in the sales on line, most of all be kind to yourself and if you need to cry then cry, it’s all part feeling powerless xxx

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 11:25

@SuzieDeLaTour sorry you are on this thread as like you it’s not where any of us wanted to be however we are all here to support each other and talk things through.
It’s good they are scanning you today and I hope they find a slot for you so you’re not waiting around for too long. It’s horrible being sat in EPU because you have such a mix of ladies, some with good news and some with sad news. Keep your head down at your phone and try and busy yourself that way. If you’re able to wander and grab a coffee then do that as well. Thinking of you xxxx

SuzieDeLaTour · 30/12/2020 11:38

@Redfoxinthesnow it’s awful when you have to sit around and wait for an appointment. Minutes seem to go by like hours. I hope you’re finding something to try (!) and keep your mind occupied.
@DMT1982 Thank you so much. Yes I’m relieved they’re scanning me today - at first they said next Tuesday but given my history of MMC and the fact they have already scanned me twice during this pregnancy already due to being higher risk of ectopic they are seeing me. I’m terrified of knowing and terrified of not knowing in equal measure I think! After my last MMC I did go on to have a gorgeous little rainbow baby born last year who is just perfect 🤩 but the fear never goes away - I’ve spent this entire pregnancy in a state of anxiety!! X

DMT1982 · 30/12/2020 11:47

@SuzieDeLaTour - completely understand the anxiety never goes away and you’re right it’s you’re terrified of not knowing but also terrified for the outcome as well. No wonder our heads are all in a mess because your body and mind is continually on an emotional rollercoaster.
That’s amazing you had your little rainbow baby after your loss so that goes onto show us all there is hope after dark times. Also for yourself remember you are able to carry a baby full term so that’s also really positive. Thinking of you xx

AMS19 · 30/12/2020 12:36

@DMT1982 are you home now lovely? Mine is still touch and go. The lady who is before me hasn't even gone down. Just hoping they don't run out of time for me to be done today 🤞🤞 xx
