Hi ladies! Our last thread was automatically closed because we reached the 1,000 post limit. I was hoping we would be able to start a new thread called First Pregnancy Post-MMC, but unfortunately we are not quite there yet. I know we will be someday soon! In the meantime, I hope you will all join me on here as we continue on this journey together. You have all been an invaluable source of inspiration, support, and kindness for me and I want to thank you for making me feel less alone in this.

About me, for any newcomers: First MMC in February at 12 weeks (baby passed at nine), D&C the next day, found out five weeks later that it was a partial molar pregnancy and currently undergoing follow-up with CX. Second early mc in April. Now impatiently waiting to be cleared from CX before ttc again.

@sadtoday21 I sure hope so . Fingers crossed X
@bananamonkey I'm glad they are done. It's a good job I like my husband's as I have to look at it every day lol

bananamonkey · 11/05/2019 18:18

@Kiki061190 I ovulated about a week after the bleeding stopped (2 weeks after the op) but I think, as @sadtoday21 mentioned upthread OPKs don’t work well first cycle after a MC.

sadtoday21 · 11/05/2019 18:53

@Kiki061190 I did track O the first cycle after my mmc, but I did this with the temping method, not OPKs (since these are not accurate the first cycle after miscarriage). Do you temp? If not, there are a lot of us on here that could help you get started! It will tell you when you O and when to expect AF and it is very accurate, regardless of whether you have had a recent mc. After your first AF though, definitely go back to the OPKs as these will help predict in advance of O (I use clearblue digital, which are kind of pricey, but the cheaper ones don't seem to work for me). Hope that helps! xxx

oh, I got my period exactly 2 weeks after my BFN. In other words, my first AF came 4 weeks after the bleeding stopped.

OP posts:
sadtoday21 · 11/05/2019 18:54

sorry, meant to say O came 4 weeks after the bleeding stopped. My first AF was 8 weeks after my surgery, 7 weeks after the bleeding stopped.

AnnaMC214 · 11/05/2019 19:26

@Kiki061190 I ovulated about 4 weeks after the surgery so now I'm hoping my first af will be about 6 weeks after. I've just started temping which is how I knew I'd ovulated and I really recommend it for knowing what's going on a bit more. I've used one step opks (from amazon) in the past and managed to see my lh surge so I'll go back to using them as well as temping after my first af.

Amanda81 · 12/05/2019 09:04

Morning All. Just having a quick 10 minute catch up whilst the nieces are having brecky.

I'm pleased the procedure went wall @Kiki061190 and that the NHS provided you with the care you needed. I find the staff on the EPU wards amazing and have never heard a bad thing said about them across the MN threads I have lurked on. I hope your recovery goes well.

I think I will be having the harmony test done @Catconfusion. In Wales I think they do offer if in the NHS, but after the First stage of combined screening. This was brought in last year. However, depending on where I am with dating, the NHS dating scan (as it currently stands) would make me approx 13 wks, and I hear that the wait between the first screening and the harmony test can be up to 4 wks. So may go private straight away at around 11wks. How are you feeling today with AF? Had it eased yet? Really hoping that this cycle is smoother for you xx

Hey @sadtoday21. The vivid dreams are still there, which sometimes are sometimes nightmares about MC. Mostly they are just dreams, which are harmless, but just so very vivid that I wake up thinking that it all happened. My next scan will be a week on Tuesday. Seems like an age away. I should be around 8-9 weeks by then (if I make it). My symptoms are still there, but much lighter than the first time round. We keep taking a day at a time.

Hoping you get O before the 20th @bananamonkey! Xx

Thanks @AnnaMC214 - I don't think the apprehension ever goes away really, or at least for me anyway. I hope your AF turns up soon that you can start afresh xx

I also found work a good distraction @Rainbow8bubbles, but everyone is different and you should take each day as it comes. You may find that you are dealing with it all for a couple of days and then a wave will take you down a little. All perfectly normal. Take care xx

Hope all is well with you @LMLP91 and @3204ECL

Happy Sunday everyone xx

sadtoday21 · 12/05/2019 12:39

@Amanda81 I hope you are having a great time with your nieces! I wonder if the dreams could have anything to do with shifts in hormones, in addition to the anxiety? I find that I dream quite vividly around O and AF, particularly right now when AF is heaviest. I can't believe you only have a week from Tuesday until the 8-9 week scan! Wow!! Time flies, although I am sure it is going really slowly for you right now. Were your symptoms really heavy the first time around? I don't think you can tell much from how heavy or light they are, just judging from the vastly different experience that @Catconfuson and I had with our first pregnancy (she was really sick with mc, I had zero ms, but we both had mmc around the same time). Just anecdotal of course, but goes to show that no signs is not bad sign.

I know the upcoming scan must be giving you some anxiety, perhaps even more than the first because the pregnancy has started to progress further now. You just have to think as positively as you can and take it one day at a time, as you have been doing so well! You are amazing to stay so calm and so strong - it's really inspiring for me. I'm definitely scared of the 8-9 week scan, as my baby's hb stopped around nine (according to the 12 week scan). I think this is a highly unlikely scenario for you though because everything was perfect for you at 6 weeks and once you see a hb and its normal its much less likely to miscarry later. I know you know all this, but sometimes just helps to hear it from someone else too. We are all thinking of you and routing for you in this pregnancy! xxx

Hey @Amanda81 lovely to hear from you. How's your weekend been so far? Bet the girls have been keeping you busy?! How are you feeling?

I'm okay, still temping away. I took later readings yesterday and today due to being so tired and not remembering to set super early alarms. I know I need to keep on top of it though in order for it to be as effective as possible, so will try and get a good solid week in. So far the line has shot up a bit and is now coming down (I think!)

Hope everyone is making the most of this sunshiny Sunday?
Xxx

AnnaMC214 · 13/05/2019 06:21

Good morning everyone. I hope you're all doing ok and had a good weekend. It's 6 weeks today since my surgery and I'm 13 dpo. I had a big temp drop the last two mornings and lots of cramping yesterday so I'm really hoping af is imminent.

First Pregnancy Missed Miscarriage
Amanda81 · 13/05/2019 07:02

Hey @AnnaMC214 sound like it's coming. I hope it's not painful xx

@sadtoday21 could be related to hormones, and possibly when the HCG is progressing. I had much more noticeable symptoms last time at this stage, but as you say I don't think you can really base anything on symptoms. I can feel my skin thickening around my uterus, it seems more solid. I'm sleeping for England as well! There's no way of knowing what's going on in there until the scan, but definitely don't want to get to the 12 week scan to be told those painful words again. I keep telling myself that I would need to be so very unlucky for it to happen again (a MMC that is) or if it does there has to be something wrong! Not thinking that far ahead at the minute and am breaking the pregnancy down in to short term goals. I told the MW that I didn't want to have the booking in appointment until after the next scan, so she is poised to ring me after next Tuesday. I do find the short term goals are helping, but are also stopping me from getting excited. I don't think I would be able to get excited anyway, well not at least until a point I felt all was progressing well xx

The girls kept us very busy @LMLP91! Made us think that we certainly don't want a brude of children! My SIL is a single mum and god knows how she handles 3 of them! It was a good weekend. Good to hear you are still going with the temping. Keep us posted with progress xx

3204ECL · 13/05/2019 07:17

@Amanda81 glad you had a lovely weekend with your nieces. Is you next scan tomorrow or next tues?

AF has stopped here and no continued spotting this cycle at all so feeling much more like a normal start to my cycle which is nice. Started on the CB digital OPKs again this morning as O is predicted for Sunday!

Hope everyone is doing ok and your Monday's aren't too bad! xxx

Amanda81 · 13/05/2019 07:32

Hey @3204ECL - it's a week tomorrow unfortunately...another very long week to wait 😬😬😬😬. Yey in the no spotting! Got everything crossed for you this cycle xx

AnnaMC214 · 13/05/2019 09:35

Thanks @Amanda81 - I feel quite nervous about it. If it's painful and heavy then it will be horrible for obvious reasons but if it's really light I'll worry my lining isn't recovering.

I'm glad your nieces were a good distraction over the weekend even if they did run you a bit ragged. I hope this week before your scan goes quickly.

@3204ECL it's good af was a bit more normal. Fingers crossed for this cycle! 😊

sadtoday21 · 13/05/2019 09:45

@AnnaMC214 yay for AF!! That’s a huge temp drop - I’d definitely expect her today or tomorrow at the latest! 13 days is a good LP! Congrats on being done with the waiting and on your first cycle of temping! I usually stop temping after AF until cd10, just to give myself a little break and because I know I don’t O before then. I’m on cd3 now and can’t wait to break out those OPKS soon! Now on to tracking O for both of us for the first cycle of ttc again! Exciting! Xxx

@3204ECL also excited for you this cycle and that you will start tracking O for Sunday! I’m a little behind you, probably have another 1.5 weeks until O, although I’m really unsure after the mmc and mc cycles. Good luck catching the egg this month!! @Catconfusion what cd are you now? Are you going to try the OPKS again this month?

@Amanda81 those all sound like good signs, particularly being really tired. Only one more week to go until the scan where you can probably see a lot more than last time! I have everything crossed for you and I hope this week goes as quickly as possible!

Hey everyone,

AF really took it's toll and I felt very down over the weekend. It was probably largely hormonal. I'm CD 4 today and heading to the hospital for my hormone bloods this afternoon. Feeling so much more positive now AF is over.

@sadtoday21 we're cycle buddies, yay! How exciting. I bet you can't wait to try. I have the connected digital opks so will start on day 12. Not sure what to do about Ovusense as it really affected my mental health last time. Xx

@AnnaMC214 I'm so pleased you're now expecting AF and can start moving on a bit. Xx

@3204ECL Not too far behind you. Hoping we all get a bfp this cycle. How cool would that be. Xx

@Amanda81 You're doing so well by the sounds of it. Not too long until the scan but I bet it feels like an age. Hoping you can keep busy. As @sadtoday21 Said symptoms do not necessarily mean anything. Xx

I hope everyone else is doing well! Xx

AnnaMC214 · 13/05/2019 11:14

@sadtoday21 thank you! I wish it would get on with it though. I feel like absolute 💩 and it still hasn't actually started yet! I hope af hasn't been treating you too badly these last few days. It's exciting that quite a few people will be O watching around a similar time. xx

@Catconfusion I'm really sorry that af has been so hard on you but it's good to hear you're feeling more positive now. I think you need to do whatever will make all this more bearable so if that's stopping temping then definitely do that. Good luck with your blood test today. xx

wanderlustgirl · 13/05/2019 11:17

@Catconfusion can I join in with cycle buddies please! After a week of having High on my clear blue my period started Sunday. 4 weeks exactly from my last (usually mine are 45 days) and exactly 2 weeks from my peak!

Finding it really hard, I got pregnant straight away the last two time and now I'm on cycle 4, which I'm aware is not a long time but just feels a bit rubbish!

I'm looking at acupuncture ? Anyone else tried it? X

sadtoday21 · 13/05/2019 11:18

@AnnaMC214 I know it is exciting! You, me, @Catconfusion, and @3204ECL will all be watching for O and sharing the TWW with each other just about! That's so cool - the waiting can be very lonely and stressful otherwise! AF hasn't been too bad for me tbh, just a normal one even though it was after the early mc. My first AF after the mmc was a bit heavier, with a lot more EWCM than normal, but still only lasted 3-4 days. I don't notice much of a difference honestly, so hoping yours isn't too bad either!

sadtoday21 · 13/05/2019 11:20

@wanderlustgirl welcome to being cycle buddies with us too! I started AF on Saturday, so we are almost the same! Fingers crossed for all of us for a bfp this month - how great would that be?!

OP posts:
wanderlustgirl · 13/05/2019 11:22

@sadtoday21 yay! Will be glad to have others, I keep trying not to think about everything but it is sooooooo hard! Lots of positive thoughts for February babies! Xxx

sadtoday21 · 13/05/2019 11:33

@wanderlustgirl definitely, I am with you on that 100%! Crazy to think about it when you put it that way. It's a bit hard to think I might have a February baby, since that's when I had the mmc and it's the anniversary of my mum's death (so I think it is a very unlucky month really!). BUT I will take it! Bring on the February babies!!

Meant to say, I have tried acupuncture and it is supposed to be very good for balancing the hormones. I loved it!

OP posts:
wanderlustgirl · 13/05/2019 11:36

@sadtoday21 great! I've emailed somewhere today so hopefully I can start that, if by some miracle they could make my cycles shorter that would be amazing!

Rainbow8bubbles · 13/05/2019 19:54

I'm still struggling. I don't understand how some women can have five six babies and not want them and I lose one. Some women go thru life never knowing the fear of miscarriage and I am so scared to try again in case it happens again

Kelpies · 14/05/2019 07:24

@Rainbow8bubbles I really think time will help you. Don't rush into things until your mind and body feel ready again. It's been 5months since my mc and I now feel excited and ready. Be kind to yourself.

I'm going to try going into this with a different mindset this time and try not to get excited or attached till we have our 12wk scan. Until then there is just a chance we are having a baby. Anyone else feeling the same?
