Just on the progesterone dosage - this is something that bothers me and i'd really like your advice on. I've not been to cov but Leeds have said they will follow the cov protocol and proff walker has prescribed me 400mg twice a day. (started today for 2nd month). Maybe he has done this because he isn't aware that pre bfp is normally 200mg twice a day, in which case i could be jepordizing my chances, or maybe it's an educated guess because i am 40, currently heavy and i do get breakthrough spotting mid month. What do you lot think? Should i be cutting them in two or use the 400mg as is? Please reply.!

sebsmummy1 · 08/06/2015 21:34

Just want to send the biggest, hugest THANK YOU to Tanny who is allowing me to have the Cyclogest she had leftover from her pregnancy.

I can't put into words how grateful I am. God love this thread and Mumsnet GrinGrin

cloudjumper · 08/06/2015 21:41

freckle I don't think that there is a consensus on the progesterone dose, some consultants prescribe 2x200, others prescribe 2x400, either pre- or post-BFP, no idea what the reasoning is behind that.
I don't think that age has anything to do with or, no idea about weight. At best, I would have thought that maybe your own natural progesterone levels might influence how much they prescribe? I.e. if you have low levels, they prescribe the higher dose? But that's a complete guess! I don't understand why the 400mg dose would be jeopardising your chances? Might have missed that discussion...
Could you contact your consultant and ask for confirmation of the dose maybe? Then he/she could explain.

I've realised that my haem consultant hasn't given me enough heparin to last until the next appointment at the beginning of August Angry Now I urgently need to find out where to get more from, so that I don't run out mid-holiday! Of course, no one answers the phone of the haem clinic, and the secretary is out of office until next week! Fortunately, my GP might be able to write me another prescription, they will call me tomorrow to discuss. Really don't need that stress right now!

girliesaints · 08/06/2015 21:47

Thanks March. Small steps ??

Frecklefire · 08/06/2015 22:08

Cloud** blinkin' meds are a nightmare! Hope you do get hold of more heparin before your holiday. The 400mg issue is refering to a discussion on here a couple of threads ago in which people were talking about the progesterone making the lining very very selective and too much actually stopping implantation of even good eggs...maybe i am worrying too much.

Justonemoretime · 08/06/2015 22:12

Freckle, AFAIK, this is the progression of progesterone from Coventry:
'Standard': 200mg x2 daily for last 7 days of cycle (day 21 in a typical 28 day cycle), test on day 28 or after 7 days, as fits your cycle. If bfp, continue, if bfn, stop.
If no bfp after 3 months, then 200mg x2 daily from bfp only.
If spotting in early pg, increase to 400mg 2x daily.
AFAIK this isn't down to age etc, but dose may be adjusted based on each woman's circumstances... but I don't know what the adjustments would be or what criteria would be used.
Hope this is of some help?

SleeplessButNotInSeattle · 08/06/2015 22:27

Freckle, fingers crossed your DP doesn't go rooting through the fridge for an accompaniment to crackers! Shock

sebsmummy1 · 08/06/2015 22:39

just that was hugely helpful, thank you.

eBay woman has gone off radar but hopefully she will reappear tomorrow and I can get the pessaries paid for and sent. I feel like a druggie trying to get a fix. If anyone had asked me five years ago whether I would be trawling the internet in search of progesterone pessaries I could stick up my bum I would have given them a very strange look.

Funny how priorities change Blush

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 08/06/2015 22:41

Shit, just outed my alter-ego! That was me Freckle, not some random person with an interest in your fridge!
Knew I'd do that at some point!

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 08/06/2015 22:49

Name-changed for thread on relationships after a huge argument with DH. Hence my absence for a week or two!

Frecklefire · 08/06/2015 22:51

Ha! Made me laugh biscuits, serve him right!!! Don't worry - i wouldn't have a clue anyway. You do have a tallent for a nom de plume! Xxx

Frecklefire · 08/06/2015 22:55

My onl. mumsnet use is for this thread biscuits, though i get the imptesdion others are gabbing all over. This one thread is my private addiction! Xxx

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 08/06/2015 23:18

I sometimes visit AIBU - as Biscuits, it is fascinating but HARSH.

But wanted to ask advice in relationships, but without people linking back to my miscarriages and being judgemental around TTC or recognising me in RL. So name changed, posted discreetly - or so I thought. And when I reread thread in the cold light of day, I had accidentally given so much away that anyone who knows me in RL would have no doubt it was me.

So had to ask for thread to be deleted! Think everything has blown over now. And I'm scrapping any dreams I had to be an undercover police officer, I'd be terrible!

Catlover2014 · 09/06/2015 04:52

Sebs congrats!!! I hope all is ok! Do you have a scan booked? I took 2 x 400mg of cyclogest each day as started bleeding about a week after BFP. Like others not sure how scientific it is but certainly didn't do the baby any harm and got me over the 12 week point. Only problem I found with having so much of it is that I was very very sleepy. A worth while sacrifice if you ask me Smile

sebsmummy1 · 09/06/2015 05:22

Thanks Cat. I'm
Much better now, let's put it that way xx

Lovemylittlebear · 09/06/2015 05:56

Hi sebs - I bought them from CRGW with the last failed pregnancy when I wasn't under their care. I literally called up and explained and the went in and picked them up and paid - don't know whether they would do and pay and post job?

Re fading out meds - have now lost the preds. Was told to fade and lose the progesterone from 12 weeks. She said it's a lot I fade out at once so stop clexane at 14 weeks. Not really under anyone's care as per such it was more a quick phone call- oh great your still going hmm trying fading it out like this lol :) I was hoping to have stopped at 12 weeks as struggling with the side effects. Is this what other people have done or did you all stop clexane at 12 weeks? Thanks xx

sebsmummy1 · 09/06/2015 06:02

Lovemylittlebear -what does CRGW stand for? I'm up for trying anything so if there is somewhere you think I could legitimately source some Cyclogest I will ring them!!!

Lovemylittlebear · 09/06/2015 06:44

Sorry it's cardiff reproductive and gynaecology wales. They have a website. I literally said I wanted cyclogest during the last pregnancy and they prescribed it and sold it to me that day as the consultant told the team it wouldn't hurt. This time round I'm on a lot more - but haven't been tested as she said it's preventative meds and they won't hurt the baby (probably a bit controversial that haven't had NK test done) but she said she wanted to prescribe them anyway. That wasn't for the money as I haven't bought any of the meds this time from them, just private prescriptions that I took to somewhere cheaper now that am on their client list. Hope that helps a bit xx

sebsmummy1 · 09/06/2015 06:59

Ok, I have emailed them. I'll let you know what they say, thank you Smile

Lovemylittlebear · 09/06/2015 07:01

No probs :) I felt in a right panic with no one taking charge of the MC situation and although it's not the same as having a RMC thoroughly go through everything and test etc, to me it felt better than nothing and they have been really nice there so far :) xx

sebsmummy1 · 09/06/2015 07:30

Lovemylittlebear - that's it exactly. Even with the RMC clinic behind you it doesn't mean anyone actually gives a shit. I will hopefully be getting a phone call today from my Consultant's secretary so perhaps they will have a treatment plan and surprise me.

But all my tests so far have been normal (cardiolipin, phospholipase, lupus anti coagulant, drVVT) and my last loss was chromosomal, so from what she said at the appointment I think she will let me get on with it alone.

barkingtreefrog · 09/06/2015 07:37

I was taking 2x200 in early pg Sebs, but that was due to my infertility issues and following iui, whilst after the ivf I was taking 2x400. I asked the consultant about the different doses and he said he'd only prescribe 400 alongside ivf. So as per usual there's no clear answer!!!

girlie what a tough day, well done for getting through it.

notspartacus excellent work on the rattling dh, I struggle to get my DH to take one multivitamin, and then get wound up that I have to remind him when it's really only a tiny little thing he has to take responsibility for and I'm the one injecting myself, going through iui/ivf and having a dildocam shoved inside me on a regular basis! Seriously, just take the bloody tablet without me having to tell you!!!

cloud hope you can get your prescription sorted.

leah I thought the guidelines took you to the approval panel? Obviously the matching bit is as long as a piece of string...

I just had AF. It was one light day and one medium day then nothing. Is this normal after the biopsy?! Has he cut most of it out (certainly felt like it) therefore there's nothing left to bleed?!

mrsdiddlydoo · 09/06/2015 07:42

littlebear I took my last clexane yesterday unless I'm weak later and going to phase out the progesterone over next week. I'm 12+3 by my dates. 12+6 by last scan but think it was rather generous.

Thanks barking. It does help to hear. Smile

sebsmummy1 · 09/06/2015 07:42

Thanks barking xxxx
