OK, thought I'd bite the bullet and start this thread as we were talking about the possibility on the "we're great, we are" thread

Is anyone interested in a christmas meet up? I know it's early but you know how time has a habit of flying by... I'm happy to organise if so. You can post here or email me at [email protected] I'm thinking probably London or just outside London as the place and the venue depends on how many want to come. Like batey's idea of a 70s/80s theme...

Fantastico! Well done to those organisers. Well done indeed. Am frankly feeling on top form after such an ace night... liked everyone, got pleasantly pissed rather than absolutely plastered- unlike last time and the time before, food was good, drink was good, live music interesting, dancing funny and fab. What more could one want of a night out? Wish I'd managed to talk properly to more people- so many folks managed to avoid me! But I will get you all in the end... and the sooner the better. We definitely need another meet-up in early 2003!

florenceuk · 01/12/2002 22:06

Well, DS chose the one night I got home after midnight to wake at 5am - did he know???! Still was worth it if only to see Mumsnetters on the dance floor. Thanks to WWW and KS for organising (and bailing me out). Was it £40ea in the end?

WideWebWitch · 01/12/2002 22:40

Well I've only just made it back to very rainy Devon. I had a great time too.

High point: about 10 of us dancing around CAM's handbag to "Tainted Love." Low point: it went too quickly and I didn't get to talk to everyone. Marina and Batters maybe next time hey? Sis, it was great to meet you, now I know what you do, oooh, just wait til I have a problem in that area!

Best line of the evening was from bossykate to me - Me: "I will dance in a minute but not to this" Bossykate: "This is not a music appreciation issue love, it's a maternal support issue, so get up and dance NOW!" So I did, although I don't know if you could call it dancing either... I agree, we should do it again soon so there's a 'do' to look forward to in rainy February. And Bayleaf (with her teacher head on) made a list of the 15 odd people who didn't turn up - hope you're all ok.

Florenceuk, sorry for asking you the most tedious question in the world "what do you think of Gordon Brown's latest economic statement" indeed!!!! What was I on? Oh yeah, white wine

What a swell party that was!!! The whole evening was a big laugh from start to finish, especially the other customers dancing (made us all look good I thought), the "Mexican" buskers, white-shirt man (who can't be SH as he has posted before that he is practically bald and this one had some hair - mind you, it did look like it could have been a rug though),photographer making it feel like some sort of "Company do",but the best thing of all was of course the fabulous company!!! Thank you to everyone for being such brilliant fun and nice people, and an extra big thanks to ks/www who had the idea in the first place and booked it!

Cityfreak · 02/12/2002 11:11

Thank you so much www and ks for organizing the party. Wish I had driven instead, and not had to leave early for the Tube. I really like to put faces to the names, although I am not good at remembering who is who. Hope to see you again soon.

bossykate · 02/12/2002 12:28

www, well and truly living up to my nickname i fear! hope it was not too distressing for you!

WideWebWitch · 02/12/2002 12:37

bk, no, absolutely not, made me laugh!

Feeling jealous now! Glad to hear everyone had a good time, hopefully I can go to the next one as by then surely the trains will be running properly at the weekends - was that why you had problems with the trains Twink and Bayleaf?

Do let me know when you organise the next one!

florenceuk · 02/12/2002 14:40

KS, Pamina - have asked Mumsnet to forward a message onto you, so please tell me if you don't hear from me via them soon-ish.

WWW - truth is, I can't even remember Gordon's last statement even though it was only last week. Tripped up by my ignorance rather than your question!

Fionn · 02/12/2002 15:18

ks yes please do!
Is anyone going to claim the black scarf..?

Dixie · 02/12/2002 15:30

ditto ditto to all thats been said already...absolutely a great evening...i was so nervous on the saturday morning...but it was a really good night..thanks ks & www it was brilliant. It was nice to put faces to names and to surprising not really talk about kids for the whole evening given the circumstances...adult conversation (&very good conversation i must add)was a real treat.

www just hope you'd drunk enough to not remember 1 such thing i told you......

crystaltips · 02/12/2002 19:00

Feeling sooooo jealous and would loved to have come to meet you all.

Being in sunny old Northern Ireland makes the travel arrangements a bit harder to organise - but must make an effort for the next do - as I have family in London ....

Keep me posted
Glad you all had fun

clucks · 02/12/2002 22:43

Many thanks everyone for a good evening out. I amazed myself by getting home at about 1 am for the first time in at least a year.

KS/WWW very brave and organised to have thought the whole thing up. Nice to have met you all and still remember screennames/real names of those who dared bare..

KS, it's quite alright to go on about your lovely husband. Even better to learn about Italians in bed though!!

CAM · 03/12/2002 22:20

I want to know about Italians in bed now

Ailsa · 03/12/2002 23:52

Just want to add my thanks to all the others, I really enjoyed the whole evening.

Thanks to a security alert at Victoria I now know my way round London quite well. My legs are still aching from all the walking and dancing.

ks - how did you manage to escape the bloke in the dodgy 80's jumper?

Anyway, thanks again to www & ks for organising.

Scummy - my disapproving MIL has gone VERY quiet, since I got back.

prufrock · 04/12/2002 16:15

I thought you preferred Portugeuse CAM

Dixie · 04/12/2002 23:24

yes prufrock i recall her saying that to a certain young Portugeuse gentleman too.....CAM we must arrange that meet up if your still interested...do you have an e-mail address or something i can contact you by..or do you wish not to put it out on the boards????

CAM · 05/12/2002 08:41

Dishing the dirt - thought I could trust y'all not to repeat what I say when I've had a few!!

Dixie · 05/12/2002 15:44
