OK, thought I'd bite the bullet and start this thread as we were talking about the possibility on the "we're great, we are" thread

Is anyone interested in a christmas meet up? I know it's early but you know how time has a habit of flying by... I'm happy to organise if so. You can post here or email me at [email protected] I'm thinking probably London or just outside London as the place and the venue depends on how many want to come. Like batey's idea of a 70s/80s theme...

I won't be able to make it. Sorry for late response but my name wasn't on the previous list so I didn't realise I'd been accounted for. Have a fab time. Maybe I'll make it next year?!

Fionn · 23/11/2002 20:26

florenceuk - will the Piccadilly line still be affected by the strike next Saturday? (I rely on Mumsnet for my news digest along with everything else!) There was me thinking how easy it would be as I'm on the Piccadilly line.

florenceuk · 23/11/2002 22:36

I think there are a few stations closed on the Piccadilly line (inc Gloucester Rd) but the line itself will run - may potentially be some delays, although I was on the District Line on Friday and it was fine. The strike ends sometime next Saturday night I guess - does anybody know?

You can have a look at the stations closed here .

prufrock · 24/11/2002 11:01

Yes Yes Yes. Might be there slightly after 6.30 though, dh is going to the Chelsea game so we have to do a dd switch!
Bayleaf - Covent Garden Market is probably the closest for slightly more unusual things. If Piccadily line stations are closed you can go to Holborn (central) or Embankment (D&C, NOrthern, Bakerloo) and walk for 10 mins

WideWebWitch · 24/11/2002 12:09

OK batey taken out and roxie, prufrock in = 45 (inc pupuce)for dinner. 2 places still free.

Infuriatingly I am going to have to pull out. MIL has suddenly changed her travel plans for Christmas and this is the last weekend we can see her now before she leaves. Damn!

ScummyMummy · 25/11/2002 08:20

Oh no, Bells! Can't you bring MIL along?!

roxie · 25/11/2002 09:34

Checked with dh shifts - can't make it that day!
Sorry all but i'm sure you'll all have a night to remember!!

bells2 · 25/11/2002 13:27

Scummy - I think I'll spare you all that experience!

tigermoth · 25/11/2002 15:16

bells2,

WideWebWitch · 25/11/2002 15:23

Trying to keep a running total going. Was 45, less roxie and bells2 to both = new total of 43 so 4 places free if there are any late takers.

www, I would love to, but have long-standing dinner date with another couple. I even live at the other end of the Piccadilly line. hope you have a lovely time, I'll be thinking about you all, x

gravytrain · 25/11/2002 16:59

I have just joined Mumsnet but the party sounds like a great idea. Maybe count me in next year...

prufrock · 25/11/2002 20:11

Bells - wanted to compare notes on Waitrose!

MABS · 25/11/2002 21:54

sorry all - just saw that my name is on the list for coming, not really sure how though. Sorry if i've messed you about, not intentional at all , but I'm away that weekend.

WideWebWitch · 25/11/2002 22:41

i would just like to apologise in advance to everyone i met for the first time at the london lunch in may who is also coming on saturday. i can remember the chat nickname of everyone i spoke to - but real names have totally deserted me! funnily enough, pre baby this would not have happened...

Wills · 26/11/2002 20:42

WWW - Yes Yes Yes - Sorry for the late reply but I'm busy at work and can't get on very often at home because dh is attempting to finish an MSc dissertation - thus times on the computer recently are few and far between. Although I'd only recently joined I've really really missed it! Still after 3.5 years of him doing this MSc part time in the evenings we now only have until the 13th December and I can't wait. We'll probably promptly get divorced because of course we've not really managed to talk to each other for the last couple of years. Anyway he's finished reading dd her story so I've got to go

WideWebWitch · 26/11/2002 20:44

wills, don't worry, I had you down as coming anyway, anyone who is on the list doesn't need to reconfirm. Gravytrain, welcome

Hi all,
We'd like to arrange for a photo to be taken of us all at the dinner to be included in a feature on mumsnet to run in the Sat Times mag next March. If anyone objects obviously they can opt out but we think it would make a nice photo. Thought of asking the photographer to come at around seven when we're all still standing... Does anyone have any violent objections to this?
Looking forward to it,
Justine

WideWebWitch · 27/11/2002 20:12

fine with me as long as my face doesn't get put to a name.
