I'm looking to move to Eastleigh or Southampton and I wanted to try and make some new friends in the area. So hello! Who are you and where abouts are you? Also, do any of you know any private landlords who take DSS and don't go through an agency??

Hi, I am about to move to Chandlers Ford (on Thursday!) I have a ds (4) and a dd (2) I work full time but would be happy to meet up at weekends.
Sorry can't help you re landlords although have you tried the property paper? If you are not local I can send you one if you want

hello - i'm not far from all you lot either. right now im a little snowed under by circumstance, but would love to meet up maybe when i am a little more settled (ds3 is less than a month old)
that country park at eastleigh, btw, is not much to write home about. the mini train thing is good, if your LO's are into trains especially, but the ride is quite short (and freezing at this time of year). is good an all, just not worth a long drive or owt, not in itself.
paultons park has LOADS to do, inc a better train, but is a bit pricey, which i dont mind, but i dont know other peoples budgets restrictions. and moors valley is nice too - another one with a train (my ds's are into trains, can you tell?? )

pinklilith · 18/02/2006 11:37

Maybe we could meet in Eastleigh town centre, even whilst I am in Winchester its still really easy to get to for me £3 by train isn't bad after all, it costs me £2.30 to get a return to winchester town centre and I'm only just an hour out.

To live? Where abouts?

SPARKLER1 · 21/02/2006 09:22

hi chjily - how did the move go?

chjlly · 21/02/2006 09:27

OK thanks! We paid for removals in the end as we had all that lovely deposit money left over!! so it made it a lot easier.
Just got to get throught the mountains of boxes! I can't find my address book to tell everyone we have moved especially as a lot of dh family think we are still in Scotland!!!

pebblemum · 21/02/2006 09:42

Hi i live in Portsmouth which isnt too far from you lot on here. As far as I can make out I am the only one on MN from here so can I join in with you. I have two sons aged 8 and 2.4yrs. Would love to meet new people as I have found many people local to me are not very talkative and tend to keep themselves to themselves iykwim.

pinklilith · 21/02/2006 10:18

pebblemum - of course you can join us, theres barely any winchester mums either, but I don't plan on staying here.

chjlly - its on Wodesman Road, its £695 a month and she says she'll take housing benefit, I was the first person to contact her and the house in currently being redecorated. Its a 3 bed and its 10mins walk from the station, just need to talk husband into it now.

pinklilith · 21/02/2006 10:19

The one near Bitterne? I used to live near there i can give you details of toddler groups in that area if you want.

pinklilith · 21/02/2006 11:42

not sure, I think so, its near sholing train station so I think so

OP posts:
Tommy · 21/02/2006 12:03

pinklilith! I thought you were moving to Chandlers Ford.. (no - sorry - that's chjlly )
I know Wodehouse Road - quite near my parents. Sholing Station is very small and unstaffed but a slightly longer walk will take you to where loads of buses go everywhere.
Good luck - hope it all works out.

pinklilith · 21/02/2006 12:23

stu's planning on getting a season ticket so he can still use the station,in theory.
