Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

Another N West London attempt, but more Watford than NWLondon!

Hi girls

I live in Pinner and Janstar and Bobsmum are up for a meet-up and we're hoping to rope in Alibubbles cos she's not to far away either.
Juno, Dot, Kayleigh, LisaLisa and anyone else that can get to Watford(ish) without driving all day and night - do you want to try and meet in Watford-ish area? I'm going to do some re-search into a good place to go. I'm sure there's an activity centre with coffee tables round the sides for us. Will get back to you on that, meanwhile - who's up for having a quick cuddle of each others kids??!!

Hmmm, Watford doesn't have a massive amount to offer by way of somewhere indoors for us & the kids.
There's Cassiobury Park but can't rely on whether.
There's the Lemarie Centre which has a playroom, a sensory room a toy libabry and a garden but don't know if we could just all turn up, and it's for children with learning disabilities and special need so I'd be alright Jack!!!! I'll give them a call that might be nice if it's possible??

Just rang the Lemarie Centre and the person I need to speak to isn't in till Thursday, so more on that later.

There's a great place for little ones in South Ruislip, which is on Central line for those tubing it, or really close to A40 - Polish War Memorial if driving - has huge soft play area and massive Sainsburys opposite so combine fun day out with a practical food shop!!!!
Seriuosly it's a great place for kids and we can sit round benches on edge and natter ???

kayleigh · 09/09/2003 19:58

I'd love to come if it was a monday or tuesday as i work the rest of the week.
There is a large soft play area in Watford called Action Kids. It's on an industrial estate between the Harlequin centre and the large Tesco. But not brilliant for getting to without a car.

Janstar · 10/09/2003 08:44

Either of those last two venues is fine with me. But I only have my ds on Friday afternoons during term time. The other days I have him only from 3pm onwards.

Grommit · 10/09/2003 10:05

Kayleigh - Action Kids is only open later in the day during the week - think around 4pm. I can meet any day at this time - i am in Hemel

ThomCat · 10/09/2003 10:18

After 4 in Watford isn't brilliant for me to be honest.
Janstar, and anyone else up for it, how about this place in South ruislip, on a Friday? It's just off th A40 so should be pretty easy for a few people. It's not at all far from Harrow. I've got a spare baby seat, but a baby one not a toddler seat and could pick someone up from south ruislip tube (Central line) or Harrow or Pinner (Metrolpolitan Line) or Rayners lane (piccadily Line).
Anytime between 2 and 4 would be good for me on a Friday.

Thomcat, that sounds fine with me, I know where Ruislip is and I would be driving so no hassle having to collect me or anything.

ThomCat · 10/09/2003 15:28

How about Friday 26th September?

OP posts:
bobsmum · 10/09/2003 15:30

Just posted this on the wrong thread - "Watford-ish people meetup- there's the newish shopping area with Borders/Starbucks, huuuuuuuge Next/Boots and a Mamas & Papas. It's next to the giant Tesco. Borders has a nice kids book section with tables etc, but unsupervised. Starbucks is always crammed with kids and pg women because of M&P next door."

Having said that, am willing to attempt a drive to Ruislip providing I have extensive autroute directions!

bobsmum · 10/09/2003 15:31

26th - will check - sounds ok so far though! - ooooh nerve wracking!

ThomCat · 10/09/2003 16:08

I know - I'm cacing it (no idea how to spell that but the origin is Italian)!!

Borders at Waterfields, Watford would be great, but DH would take my credit card away if he knew that was where I was going! I never get out of there without spending a fortune, like £50/£60 a time, I have a serious book habit.

If any one ever wants the latest paperbacks second hand, read once, ask me if i have it, I car boot them at £1 each.

kayleigh · 10/09/2003 18:56

alibubbles, I am exactly the same. I read them once and never touch them again. There is just something about a new book.
But I do try to only buy when they are 3 for 2 or 2 for £10 at Smiths and then at least I collect Smiths points too. And if they are on special offer I can talk myself around to how I'm actually saving money

Janstar · 11/09/2003 09:43

Thomcat, I can do the 26th. I collect ds at 12 noon. Either Ruislip or Waterfields. Waterfields is really close to where I live, but I will go along with whatever everyone wants to do.

Alibubbles, do you have The Siege by Helen Dunmore, The Secret Life of Bees, or The Lovely Bones? If so I will have them please.

bobsmum · 11/09/2003 10:16

is this happening then? on the 26th?
Votes for Ruislip or Waterfields?
Waterfields is closer for me - so that's my vote, but if Ruislip gets more i'll still travel

alibubbles · 11/09/2003 10:25

Waterfields for me, couldn't manage Ruislip on a friday afternoon! Might also be childless depending on time, but then I could admire everyone else's!

Janstar, definately got the second two, Secret life of Bees is on lean to my mother in France at the moment but she's back next week, baby asleep in spare room at the moment, can't check for the other one.

I'll do a list and then if anyone interested I'll email it to them.

Janstar · 11/09/2003 10:27

Yes, please email it to me Alibubbles.

Like Bobsmum, I vote for Waterfields but will drive to Ruislip if it wins the vote.

bobsmum · 11/09/2003 10:36

ooh - thomcat - just read through a bit of your wedding thread and you sound really trendy - MoS and all that. Now feel very frumpy suggesting sensible book shop...must dig out reasonably nice trainers...

ThomCat · 11/09/2003 16:01

So Waterfields it is - where is that???!!!
Anyone want to write down step by step instruction how to get there - great - go ahead - you can include which lane I should be in from Pinner onwards!!
Got a nervous stomach now!!!!!!!

Sorry, Thomcat, Don't be thinking that no one is bothered to give you directions. I will later when I have time.

alibubbles · 13/09/2003 11:27

I thought Waterfields had their own website, but I can't find it. Here are multimap details and if you put in your own postcode as well, you can then print off instructions on how to get there.

ThomCat · 15/09/2003 12:57

Thanks Alibubbles

Is everyone still up for this meet? It's this Friday, you know? I can't wait.
