Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

Another N West London attempt, but more Watford than NWLondon!

Hi girls

I live in Pinner and Janstar and Bobsmum are up for a meet-up and we're hoping to rope in Alibubbles cos she's not to far away either.
Juno, Dot, Kayleigh, LisaLisa and anyone else that can get to Watford(ish) without driving all day and night - do you want to try and meet in Watford-ish area? I'm going to do some re-search into a good place to go. I'm sure there's an activity centre with coffee tables round the sides for us. Will get back to you on that, meanwhile - who's up for having a quick cuddle of each others kids??!!

Shall I bring books too? We could have a swapping session.

bobsmum · 22/09/2003 12:52

Alibubbles - are you still flogging your books for £1 a go? There are loads there I've been meaning to read for ages - fight you for them Janstar

Have we said a time to meet? Should we wear red roses in our buttonholes? Secret code/handshake/rolled up sock?...

alibubbles · 22/09/2003 13:13

I'm happy to sell or swap if anyone has anything I haven't read.

What time is good for everyone? We have music till 12 and then some lunch, might lose the toddler at 1.30, but still have the baby so any time after then is good for me.

I'll be the one with the car boot open!

Janstar · 23/09/2003 10:52

Any time from 1pm onwards is fine for me.

Where is Thomcat? Haven't seen her posting for a couple of days. Who else is coming?

bobsmum · 23/09/2003 10:57

I'll be there with 1 yr old ds. How about 2pm?

Still no sign of Thomcat then? 2pm is fine for me. Will there be anyone else joining us?

We'll know each other by the haggard expressions and the little people all over us like limpets.

Janstar · 24/09/2003 12:27

Just read other thread. What do you mean, lost in Ibiza? I was WORRIED

ThomCat · 24/09/2003 15:10

Uggghhh, yes here I am - sorry about that!
If you could see the state of me today! Just been to the chemist for sea sickness tablets and Berocca! I want to cry - i feel SO sorry for myself - not coping. Had best time but now wish I'd stayed at home being a sensible mother not a mad raver!!
So it's this Friday is it? Is it this Waterfields place in Watford at 2pm? Whereabouts???
I'm scared. Scared I won't know how to get there - scared of all of you and scared I'll never feel normal again!

Welcome back thomcat!! Have you got an irritatingly gorgeous tan?

How about we meet outside Borders at 2pm?

I'm really scared now, like exam-I-haven't-studied-for scared. How irrational! But it's like a bizarre blind date...I hope that janstar/thomcat/alibubbles aren't just one person with many names and that instead of nice sensible paperbacks in your boot, there's a big chainsaw and some rubber gloves.....

ThomCat · 24/09/2003 15:32

A tan - are you joking? I spent the days in the clubs too! No - no tan - I look green, not golden!

alibubbles · 24/09/2003 16:10

bobsmum, I do have a box of latex gloves in the boot of my car - Ofsted requirement for changing nappies - unopened!

Will be there at 2pm or as soon as

Karen99 · 24/09/2003 17:08

Hi Mums! I live in Kenton near Harrow - would you mind if I joined you? I'm a new mumsnetter since August and can't keep off it! (Should be catching up on sleep whilst DS is napping at the mo, but couldn't resist the keyboard - won't tell DH!)

ThomCat, if you would like being picked up I can come via Pinner on the way up and we can install your spare car-seat in my car if that helps?

Otherwise, if you still need detailed directions just let me know a landmark in Watford that you know of and I can direct you from there.

ThomCat · 24/09/2003 17:21

Karen99 - I love you already. Right got to go - but will email you more about this tomorrow. xxxxx

Karen99 · 24/09/2003 17:26

Or, another thought, if you want the flexibility you can always follow me there in your car...

Will talk tomorrow.

Janstar · 25/09/2003 09:41

Karen, you are a love. I was thinking that I would have to give Thomcat detailed directions to calm her down and that I would get them all wrong and ruin everything....

As you can see I'm a bit of a worrier

I have just told ds that tomorrow I am taking him to meet some new friends and he was so excited. He says, 'Thankyou mummy' in a really excited voice as if you had given him his best fantasy. I love it when he is in this mood.

So 2pm it is then. Don't worry, I am not at all scary and have a healthy inferiority complex.

ThomCat · 25/09/2003 10:52

I swar to you all this isn't a get out thing - but I've just made an appt to see the doctor at 2 today about this dizziness that is still occuring. Since getting off boat in Ibiza everything is still rocking! It feels awful. I once got vertigo from walking down corridor at work! anyway I should be fine but I don't know. Karen99 why don't you e,mail Mumsnet, asap and ask them to give you my email, or actually I'll contact them, and give you my mobile number. That way you can phone me and we'll either meet somewhere or I can at least let you klnow that I can't do driving! I got a cab into work today but shou;ldn't have come. have just cried in the office becaue I nearly fell over getting up to make a coffee!!!!!! Please don't think I'm lightweighting out - I really do want to come - so will promise, hand on heart to try - OK?
Karen - emailing MN now. xx

Thomcat - I had the same kind of feeling after 24 hours on the ferry to Spain a couple of years ago. It took about 2-3 weeks to go away. Trying to sleep at night was the worst, because the more i stayed still, the more everything moved. I took seasickness pills once on dry land and that eased it a little. I hope it's not vertigo I want to meet Lottie!

Karen99 · 25/09/2003 11:01

No problem Thomcat. Will wait for the details. Hope you feel better. x

This will be my first outing without DH!(except for those endless trips down to the supermarket) Bit nervous but looking forward to meeting you all.

ThomCat · 25/09/2003 11:09

Oh Bobsmum, don't tell me weeks! Will try and log on at home actually aftr the doctors and let you know how I get on.
Karen99 - how old is your bubbie then?

OP posts:
Karen99 · 25/09/2003 11:10

Sorry - that should be "bit nervous about the outing - getting all the bits together etc" not about meeting you all!

Karen99 · 25/09/2003 11:13

Bubbie is just 3 months, but is already halfway through his 3-6mo clothes! Not exactly Michelin man, but that double-chin does make its appearance quite often!

bobsmum · 25/09/2003 11:17

Karen99 - ickle baby to cuddle - you'll get me all broody (ds is 12 mths 3wks and was always michelin boy )

Karen99 · 25/09/2003 13:13

looks like tomorrow is going to be some fun!
