Meet-ups

When meeting up take sensible precautions. Meet in a public place and let others know where you are going.

Another N West London attempt, but more Watford than NWLondon!

Hi girls

I live in Pinner and Janstar and Bobsmum are up for a meet-up and we're hoping to rope in Alibubbles cos she's not to far away either.
Juno, Dot, Kayleigh, LisaLisa and anyone else that can get to Watford(ish) without driving all day and night - do you want to try and meet in Watford-ish area? I'm going to do some re-search into a good place to go. I'm sure there's an activity centre with coffee tables round the sides for us. Will get back to you on that, meanwhile - who's up for having a quick cuddle of each others kids??!!

Bobsmum, going to send you my mobile number as Thomcat and I are probably going to come together (if she is feeling better!), just incase the hagard expressions are all smiles and we miss each other.

Thomcat has just texted me saying she has got Virtigo! poor love.

bobsmum · 25/09/2003 18:16

How many is that then (vertigo permitting)?

Arrghh! DS woke up this morning with a sniffle! I've been trying to ward one off myself for the last two weeks and thought he'd escaped.

He sounds very stuffy, but no runny nose (yet). What do you girls want me to do? Don't know if this will develop or not, but won't expose him to your lot if you don't want..

Would a bit of Vics help? Can you suggest anything else? This is the first time he's shown signs of anything before and I'm not sure what products are ok to use on a 3mo old!

bobsmum · 26/09/2003 10:43

Karen - you're bf aren't you? I found that putting vicks just at the top of my boob helps ds while feeding.

Boots do a children's version which is suitable from 3 months - less likely to turn their eyeballs inside out when they breathe it in! Boots also sell plug in decongestants with refillable sachets, they might be for over 6 months though - not sure. If he's got a temp, you can give calpol from 3 months too. If you've only got vicks in the house at the moment, then "dilute" it with vaseline before you rub any on your ds, so it's not quite as overpowering!

As for exposure, it doesn't bother me! ds has the tail end of the snuffles at the mo anyway, but tbh I think it's more teething than a cold

Your call though, you know your ds best and if you think he'd be better with a day at home, then don't worry - we'll have a caramel macchiato on your behalf! It would be great if you could come though - I'm always up for giving sympathy cuddles to wee cutey sniffly babies!

That reminds me, my HV actually recommended "snufflebabe" as a decongestant rub - could never find it though...

Let us know what you decide.

Karen99 · 26/09/2003 11:09

Hi Bobsmum, DS is in a very good mood today, no temp or anything yet. My cold, if it was one, was v. mild with just a blocked nose for a few days and a headache, so hoping he won't get too bad. We are definitely looking forward to coming out today, and as Boots is in the same centre I'll get the Baby Vics etc then. I was hoping to quiz you on Totbots aswell as we're having leaking problems and saw you recommended them in an earlier thread.

See you later. Calling Thomcat now to see how she is. Will let you know what she decides.

bobsmum · 26/09/2003 11:14

oooooh Karen my favourite subject - will come armed with leaflets!

bobsmum · 26/09/2003 15:56

Well, so much for all those good intentions. nice to speak to you thomcat even if it was brief!

ds still vomming everywhere - highchair will be jetwashed when dh gets home - too many nooks and crannies

The whole house reeks now. I've got absolutely no idea what it was - he seemed perfectly cheery this morning. Then pretty much bang on 1pm - the entire contents of his innards land on my kitchen floor - that is all except the stuff that landed in the scoop of his bib - eeeuuurrghh!

Maybe he objects to meet-ups. Still up for another go next time soon (provided you all got on ok and are still speaking, or was it just one long embarrassing silence )

Better get back to the puke meister....

Janstar · 26/09/2003 16:31

Hi bobsmum, I'm back, although I'm probably the first. The other three wandered off to look at baby clothes but I didn't need anything so I left.

Sorry you didn't make it, I was really looking forward to meeting you and Bob. Perhaps it is a good thing he started at 1pm - if he had left it till 2pm you would have been in a worse pickle.

We had coffee in the borders bookshop and admired each other's children and chatted. Thomcat is feeling better than earlier. Then we wandered outside and bought books out of the boot of alibubbles' car. My son is in love with alibubbles and nagged me all the way home saying he didn't want to go home, he wanted to go to her house. (Alibubbles, you've pulled.)

Anyway, why don't we meet some other time, when Bob is feeling better. I'll meet you in Hemel if you like, or you can come over here. Let me know.

Karen99 · 26/09/2003 17:25

Hi Bobsmum, sorry to hear about Bob. Thomas has been sick after every feed today too - must be something in the water... Atleast milk is easier to wipe up than proper food!

We had a good time. It was a good place for a first time meetup, swamped with 'bumps' and 'bubbies'. Thomcat and I are going to look out for somewhere around Watford thats got some kiddies activities as there wasn't much to amuse the little ones at Waterfields.

Got my vapour rub, but still want to chat to you about the Totbots! Drop me an email when you get the time.

Take care, talk to you soon. x

alibubbles · 26/09/2003 17:58

Lovely to meet you this afternoon.

Thomcat's daughter is delightful, much prettier than her photo, she has such an infectious air about her, you know how you can just fall in love with some children, well I could easily take her home anytime. Shame I'm not close enough to look after her in December, but lucky grandad!

Karen99, very brave of you to come and meet us, a new mumsnetter with a very new baby, a good looking chap too. Hope he isn't getting a cold, and you got back okay.

Janstar, I was very impressed by the way your son latched onto my buggy, well trained as you say, by his childminder. Children do tend to behave better for their childminders and perhaps Paddy recognised me as one! I do also tend to have that effect on children, and I collect them ike the Pied Piper!

Look forward to a longer meet up sometime!

ThomCat · 30/09/2003 10:24

Hi girls - sorry not been around - but just wanted to say how much I enjoyed meeting you.
It all felt a bit odd while I was waiting for a complete stanger to pick me up, but that feeling lasted precisely 2 seconds! look forward to doing it again - and Bobsmum - look forward to meeting you too. Hope little bob is much better now.

Alibubbles - sorry your cheque for the books is in tonight's post.

Lots of love to you all - Thomcat xx

Love to you all

I saw this post, and wondered if it was too soon to suggest another meet. I live just outside Watford, and would love to put faces to names.

If it is a large silence I will take it a a big no!
