The Final Autumn Low Carb Bootcamp Weigh-in!

BIWI · 18/11/2013 07:46

Morning all!

Today is our last official weigh-in. Come and declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I hope it's a good result!

And I hope that everyone has done well over the Bootcamp.

Don't despair that it's the end, though! We will keep a chat thread going, and the spreadsheet is always there, so that there is support for all of us who continue to struggle with our inner gobbler low carb.

There are still 5 weeks till Christmas, so time to shed a few more pounds before the big day ...

Flowers to you all

great moment tenement!

timidviper · 24/11/2013 18:16

I have to say this is first time I have ever managed it! I find it much easier to do this WOE at home but not always when I'm out although we discovered Bem Brazil a while back which is a low-carbers dream!

Mind you that is probably aggravated by living near Blackpool which is not noted for its healthy lifestyle and haute cuisine Grin I usually only find nice food when I go further afield

tenementfunster · 24/11/2013 20:04

it is good to not have to explain/feel awkward in your choices when eating out.

I see that article talks about high-protein-low-carb but dares not mention the word "fat" anywhere!

I know we are no longer weighing in, but after a couple of weeks of pretty much staying the same, I stepped on the scales to find a new low this morning, more than 2lbs off, since last Friday. I have no idea why! (I didn't weigh over the weekend, because I ate my weight in peanuts while out on Friday night and I didn't want to see the damage!)

Marking place.

DarkHorse2013 · 26/11/2013 07:22

Just wanted to say thanks so much for this! I started on a low cal diet in July and lost some weight, have done this before with some success but the weight always creeps back on, and it's really hard work.

Low carbing (with MN backup) though is fab and it really really works for me. I had difficulty at the beginning convincing myself to eat full fat foods, but I love this WOE, love the foods and I don't get hungry.

I'm now comfortably back at my ideal weight and I'm really happy with it - so thank you!!!

sybilfaulty · 27/11/2013 06:56

Feeling a bit plump today. Went out last night (on a school night!) and had lovely fish with mediterranean veg and some wine. Frittata ad early night beckon. Just need to get through the day at work first. ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

StuntNun · 27/11/2013 07:47

Celeriac is back in season so I have a little one all for me (DH is away on business and I can't see my kids doing more than trying a little bit. So how shall I cook it? Mash? Chips? Crisps?

LilyAmaryllis · 27/11/2013 12:11

Well done Dark horse you dark horse you.

StuntNun I'd do celeriac as chips or roasted. I once did celeriac dauphinoise which was to die for (but depends whether you can take all the cream!)

BIWI · 27/11/2013 13:37

celeriac boulangere is lovely and cream-free - recipe is on the recipe thread I think

I had celeriac mash and naughty not low carb sausages. I'll try celeriac chips next time. Grin

StuntNun · 28/11/2013 09:17

Ooh what about Bombay Celeriac? Would that work?

Nacster · 28/11/2013 11:55

Hi guys, I'm in week 4 of the bootcamp plan.

10lb ish down and going well. It is going to be lifetime for me, as I have identified that I may have a wheat or grain allergy. After 25 days, almost all of my allergy symptoms have gone. I've also ditched milk, but am still using cream/ cheese/ yoghurt.

I'm still doing less than 20g of net carbs most days, one or two days 20-30 and one really crap day of 50g. I'm finding it tricky to find a good balance, as going over 25 seems to trigger cravings. That seems low to be crave-triggering though?

I don't have keto sticks, so I don't know for sure if I'm even in ketosis - I don't have bad breath, although my mouth feels odd. I'm never hungry though, which is a symptom I believe.

21lb to go. Well done all you lot that have completed this!

LilyAmaryllis · 28/11/2013 19:38

Well done Nacster sounds like you've done well in the last 4 weeks. I can't answer your questions about grams as I've never measured carbs... but it seems good to follow the signs from your body around when cravings get triggered?

I don't think (hope) I've had bad breath!... Its really important to drink enough - lots of - water. That does promote the fat loss, but maybe also dilutes anything that might cause bad breath?

colette · 29/11/2013 21:19

like the look of the bombay celeriac stunt nun thanks.
Nacster sounds like you are doing really well. How do you count your carbs ? I tried using myfitness pal but it got too confusing, too many different amounts for the same food and i couldn't be bothered to weigh things

timidviper · 30/11/2013 00:30

I'm still plodding along here but think I need to give up the scales as they are frustrating me. I still weigh more than before my binge 3 weeks ago Hmm but think I am a bit thinner (thinner is the wrong word for me I just mean slightly less fat! Grin)

tenementfunster · 30/11/2013 08:42

a pound off so far this week...the fat gold rush has slowed down a bit, but i am going to persevere. i know i need to drink much much more water and stop eating mozzarella!

3 weeks til xmas, we can shift a bit more

BIWI · 30/11/2013 09:56

Nacster - everyone has different levels of carbs that they can tolerate - although 25g does sound quite low. Are you sure it's the carbs that are triggering cravings? When you are having a higher carb day, what kind of things are you eating?

OP posts:
Nacster · 30/11/2013 19:10

Hi Biwi Smile it's generally rasp/ blueberries/ 85% choc and a few nuts/ peanut butter.

I maybe haven't quite kicked the sugar addiction yet!

I'm logging with MFP but mostly putting my own foods in as it's often innaccurate. The cravings are totally controllable, because I'm not hungry at all, ever!

(I was a binge eater, and I am quite scared of that starting again. All sugary/ carby food.)

timidviper · 01/12/2013 00:14

I am still being good yet my weight has fluctuated about the same level for 2-3 weeks now. I think I feel a bit thinner though so will keep on and wait for the whoosh!

StuntNun · 01/12/2013 07:58

I have been a carby twat this week and the scales have punished me with a 3.5 lb gain. Shock It's amazing how quickly it piles on. I had one night out for dinner (veg broth and chicken enchiladas) and a couple of desserts (figs with mascarpone at Pizza Express and DH made panna cotta from scratch yesterday). So it's not like I've been on a huge carb fest or anything. I suspect carb creep has snuck in via too many nuts and squares of 80% cocoa chocolate. Hopefully it's mostly water and it'll shift quickly as I had been so pleased to reach my target weight last week.

BIWI · 01/12/2013 14:19

Nacster - here is a nail. Here is a head to go with it Grin

Try increasing your carbs with extra veg, rather than fruit and chocolate. It's the sweet stuff that you're craving so you need to break that habit.
