Good Morning Campers Smile

Sorry for starting this a bit late - meant to do it last night Blush

Here's the spreadsheet

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Already seen some great losses recorded on the Week 1 thread so that's heartening Smile. It's always great seeing how newbies see that it really does work Grin

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway. We all need to KOKO.

One more week of strict Boot Camp and then we can choose to go on to Boot Canp Light for those of us who want to Halo

@Sunsnowsun not stuffed mushrooms, but Jamie Oliver's mushroom curry is great. Use full fat coconut milk, a teaspoon of mango chutney not a tablespoon (or serve it on the side), and as per previous posts I substitue halloumi for paneer. I thought mushroom curry would be horrible -and slimy and grey and green-- but it was great.

UnOeufIsEnough · 26/10/2022 20:08

Great post @venusandmars Smile

Backstreets · 26/10/2022 20:11

@venusandmars oooh i'm trying that one

got a hankering for creamy mushrooms now too, with cream and butter and sage and onions

FinallyHere · 26/10/2022 20:50

Feeling a tad sorry for myself tonight.

When I don't low carb, I seem to have a permanently runny nose which post nasal drip turns into a cough. Now, after low carbing all year, Ive been feeling great but suddenly I have a ticklish throat, the glands in my neck are enlarged and I feel this might be a cold or worse brewing.

Disappointed to discover even low sugar fisherman's friends are 86g/100g carb. Im going to go to sleep now. Would be so glad to wake to any suggestions of low carb throat sweets.

KOKO everyone

Baystard · 26/10/2022 21:07

Hope you feel better soon @FinallyHere , as a non-fan of fisherman's friends... Envy[not envy] would knocking back a spoonful of Vics Vaporub be the LC alternative? 🤔Grin

No wildly exciting meals here and probably a bit too much cheese if i'm honest. Hens laying again so will move onto eggs later in the week, not had a buttery mashed boiled egg in ages and very much looking forward to it (or 3, or 4...)

How did the water mystery go today @prettybird , did you get enough heavy rain to test the theory about rainwater ingress?

Working lunch coming up on Friday but checked the menu and there are some tasty sounding salad options (if a bit low in fat) and I'll just have a good fatty dinner to make up for it.

Baystard · 26/10/2022 21:16

Oh god @FinallyHere reading that back it sounds really uncaring of me, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have made a joke Flowers

Would sipping lemon juice in hot water with just enough sweetener to make it tolerably not-sour help?

venusandmars · 26/10/2022 21:22

@FinallyHere paracetamol (alternated every 2 hours with ibuprofen OR alternate with gargling with soluble asprin - never ibuprofen and asprin). That should help the pain, temperature, fever. To soothe your throat - honey, lemon juice, glycerol (who has that?). Honey, lemon juice, whisky...

I know honey is carb laden but you need to be comfortable.

Lemon and honey strepils were my magic when I had covid.

venusandmars · 26/10/2022 21:26

@baystard I have individual sachets of hellman's mayo in my handbag for salads that are too low in fat - you can buy them here or over time you can just pick them up from various fast food cafes that you visit... Scottish Grin Or take some butter (intended for your bread, add salt and pepper and just eat it with your fingers).

venusandmars · 26/10/2022 21:29

This has nothing to do with bootcamp.. But it seemed such a poignant poem. It says everything I felt when I was struggling with the balance of being a mother, a wife, a career person, me... So I thought I'd share it.

These days a bed with us both

doesn’t need a baby between
For us to be separate
or feel unseen.
A thought of you is quickly replaced
About them, or the chores

Or shrugging off your embrace.
Never far from apart

As you pull me in close

A beautiful battle

of who needs me the most.
My energy drained bit by bit
My arms pulled to elastic

My hair fraying like a ragdoll
What to do with your compliments

When my reflection’s so fragile.
It’s not your fault
You see me the same
Mum, Mummy, babe, Mummy, Honey
I’ve forgotten my name.
My heart is so full yet it’s still healing

I open my mouth and speak

words with no feeling.
We talk when it’s dark and all is done

Once the trials from the day
are razor sharp on my tongue.
And to extend further warmth
just feels like a chore
There’s no pictures of just us
on my phone anymore.
And it’s not that I don’t love you, I do,
more than ever.

It’s the ships we’ve become,
drifting off in the weather.
And I long to fall into those arms
so much
But I don’t quite know what to do
with your touch.
I know beautiful and ragged
become one in the same

when we speak of mothers,

when we speak of this change.
It shouldn’t be such an effort should it?
To be a mother a wife a lover

and everything I was before and after.
I love how you try,
with all of your strength
To break down my walls,
while my arm holds our length.
It’s all I imagined,

bum pats over dishes

While our babes are tucked up,

it’s not perfect, yet it is.
I watched you with the kids the other night
It felt warm in my chest, everything felt right.
I smiled.
tell him
TELL HIM.
You looked up
And I swallowed.

“Are you taking out the bins?”

And this was the illustration

ditavonteesed · 26/10/2022 21:47

@FinallyHere sorry your still feeling crap there's some really nasty bugs going round. If you need a fisherman's friend have one.

I lost a pound overnight with the fast, I'm hoping it sticks. I'm back under my original target and only 3 pounds roughly above my lowest weight.

Lougle · 26/10/2022 21:51

@FinallyHere I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly 💐

ListenLinda · 26/10/2022 21:52

Popping in to say hi.
I don’t really have much to say or post, but I am reading the thread every day!
well done everyone so far, we’ve got this :)🙃

Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/10/2022 21:55

@venusandmars
yes how true , I love the line ‘tell him’
hiw often do we feel it but don’t say it , and the moment passes

lovely poem , I think we can all relate to being pulled in a hundred directions and trying to do the best by everyone

debka · 26/10/2022 21:55

@LiesDoNotBecomeUs I gave blood on Monday- no issues apart from feeling a bit faint the next morning in an exercise class. Just take it easy and you should be fine. I ate a big dinner before I went and said no to the biscuits.

B- 2 eggs with butter
L- green yoghurt
D- leftover Thai chicken curry

Going to try a run tomorrow morning, I might try eating before I go out in case of feeling a bit wobbly.

ditavonteesed · 26/10/2022 21:56

Totally off subject but I bought a very short black denim skirt today when out with dd, there was a shop that had leg warmers, dd said leg warmers are in and they would look so good with this skirt. Would it be mad to buy leg warmers, I really want leg warmers now.

debka · 26/10/2022 21:56

@venusandmars that's a beautiful poem, thank you for sharing, it definitely resonated. ❤️

This was the bit that I loved too. With three kids under 9, I feel in the midst of this.

ZiggZagg · 26/10/2022 22:05

@FinallyHere hope you're feeling better soon

@venusandmars lovely poem, I love poetry and books a music, can change my mood in a second! The line about "tell him" resonates, I always tell DH I love the way he plays with DS and that he's a good dad, I think it's important they hear that from time to time! (And encourages it more, more free time for mum ha!)

ditavonteesed · 26/10/2022 22:07

@venusandmars beautiful poem.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/10/2022 22:14

@ditavonteesed
buy them ! A bit of fun

JudyBlumesBlubber · 26/10/2022 23:00

I am unable to update the spreadsheet - is it locked? I'm sure I'm doing something stupid!

NotDonna · 26/10/2022 23:29

get the leg-warmers and we need photo evidence!
Thank you for sharing the poem. So so true!

prettbird I’m a bit confused re mushrooms & peppers. According to the veg list mushrooms are 0.3, peppers 4.3. Yet I’ve seen a lot of sprouts eaten at 4.1 & even swede at 5. Am I missing something please?
The salads I’m having are lettuce, cucumber, peppers, mushrooms. The salad bar is dreadful and if I avoid peppers and mushrooms I’d be living on lettuce & cucumbers. Are they really that carby? Thanks!

NotDonna · 27/10/2022 03:41

Not too bad today
bfast - lettuce, cucumber, raw peppers, raw mushrooms, half avocado & a cold sardine
lunch - lettuce, cucumber, raw peppers, mushrooms & jerk chicken leg with skin on
dinner - lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, octopus; then a small burger with cheese (no bun) and creamed spinach.
sooooo much water & a few mint teas

Lougle · 27/10/2022 06:35

@NotDonna anything 5g/100g and under is absolutely fine.
