Good Morning Campers Smile

Sorry for starting this a bit late - meant to do it last night Blush

Here's the spreadsheet

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Already seen some great losses recorded on the Week 1 thread so that's heartening Smile. It's always great seeing how newbies see that it really does work Grin

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway. We all need to KOKO.

One more week of strict Boot Camp and then we can choose to go on to Boot Canp Light for those of us who want to Halo

I've been in hiding from Bootcamp threads because I thought I'd put on weight. Finally worked up courage to add last Sunday's weigh in and turns out I'd misremembered and I'm down 2lb!!

Lovely inspiring thread.
Thanks @venusandmars for that poem. Made me cry.

ListenLinda · 28/10/2022 07:10

@Mercedesbenz2022 I have put it in the oven low and slow before today, lots of salt and pepper. These days I grill it to get the fatty bits extra crispy and it’s delish. Last night I had it with lots of sprouts and broccoli, with butter added.

@NotDonna a NSV is a Non Scale Victory. Something that’s a benefit/product of Low Carbing, aside from the weight coming off the scales :)

Mercedesbenz2022 · 28/10/2022 07:13

@ListenLinda ,thank you , I’m putting it on my shopping list , sounds delicious

ListenLinda · 28/10/2022 07:51

@Mercedesbenz2022 it really is, DH loves it too and he doesn’t LC. It’s versatile too, so you can do it with any veg or salad!

Jollyholibobs · 28/10/2022 08:07

@NotDonna i am mainly veggie (pescatarian) and one of my favourites are roast ratatouille with halloumi. Roast red onion, aubergine, courgette and peppers with olive oil for 30 mins. Add garlic, basil, tinned tomato and top with halloumi slices then back in hot oven for 15 mins until the halloumi has browned.

B Scrambled egg and garlic mushrooms
L avacado, cheese and salad
D aubergine parmigiana and flgv

All the 💦 water. KOKO everyone

venusandmars · 28/10/2022 08:13

Dinner last night was lovely and dh and I had such a lovely time. I broke bootcamp rules though and finished with a whisky sour. we were in a distillery, it would be rude not to

Now sitting in my campervan in bed with a mug of rooibos tea, listening to the rain. Coffee shop is the plan for later (no cake for me). Then chicken and veg soup for lunch, and dinner is either omelette with hot smoked salmon and spinach, or eating out in an Indian restaurant.

Bike ride to be fitted in this afternoon, an easy out and back along Dee side (on my electric bike).

Sunsnowsun · 28/10/2022 08:48

@venusandmars that sounds absolutely fabulous, enjoy.

The stuffed mushrooms went down very well, I just fried a very small onion with the mushroom stalks and some garlic in butter and olive oil (left it to cool) and then sired in about 100g of cream cheese. Stuffed that into the mushroom and topped with some grated cheddar, cooked in oven for 20 to 30 mins on 180, served with a green salad (and jacket potato for non boot campers). Will definitely make them again.

So far this week I have stayed the same on the scales. I know that this is what my body does, then at some random time I seem to drop a lb or 2, so if this happens don’t be disappointed.

koko

FinallyHere · 28/10/2022 09:00

All that extravagance in a wonderful setting, then dh and I will walk off to our little campervan parked up less than 10 minutes walk away.

That sounds impossibly romantic, @venusandmars Glad to hear it went well.

I'm KOKO with litres of ginger tea. Many thanks for that suggestion @prettybird It is exactly right for this cough/cold state I'm in. Drank my way through three 1.5l cafetière of it yesterday and I'm half way down the first one of today.

Together with steam inhalations of pine/methol which have childhood nostalgia for me I'm getting through the day.

Will certainly not be sorry when it gets to the weekend this week.

FinallyHere · 28/10/2022 09:03

Thank you for the lovely messages from so many of you on this thread.

Feel properly loved in spite of my bugs.

NotDonna · 28/10/2022 13:56

@Jollyholibobs that sounds perfect thank you! I can do that with pasta, rice, or jacket for DDs & DH, which is perfect.

@venusandmars a camper van AND an electric bike! Enjoy!

humancalculator · 28/10/2022 13:57

@ChimneyPot yikes! I will definitely heed your advice!

BIWI · 28/10/2022 14:50

@ChimneyPot @humancalculator time for me to post this again:

Sugar-free Haribo

BIWI · 28/10/2022 14:50

(It's not a telling-off, by the way!)

Grin
NotDonna · 28/10/2022 16:06

biwi That is hilarious! Poor thing.

Skiphopgoosebumps · 28/10/2022 16:29

What are the thoughts on fathead dough? I was thinking of making this naan bread today - www.wholesomeyum.com/low-carb-keto-naan-bread-recipe/
I’m in week 3 so can have nuts.

prettybird · 28/10/2022 16:29

@sheepdreams - sorry to hear you had a bad day Flowers. As @NotDonna says, can you work out why you fell off the wagon? But don't dwell on it and today is a new day Smile

Congratulations @SerenWantsItAll - this WoE does work but even if the scales hadn't been down, I'm sure there are other NSVs that you have observed Smile

In other news: this happened today Smile Bought ds his first car: part birthday present; part graduation present; part celebration that we've finally managed to distribute dh's mum's estate; part "My insurance won't let me put him on our car"; and part being pleased to help him get the independence.

The insurance was just over £1,000 Shock (non black box policy - black box would've been about £100+ cheaper).

@Skiphopgoosebumps - I've had mixed results with flathead dough as a pizza base but that looks interesting as a naan bread Smile (only ok for you because you're in Week 3 Wink).

Tom Kerridge also has a nice recipe for flat breads, which I posted a wee while ago in the Veggie recipe thread.

Happy weekend campers, can't believe how fast this week went by. Currently at the keto stage where I'm watching men handle bread dough on youtube.

ChimneyPot · 28/10/2022 17:31

@BIWI that would be hilariously funny if it wasn’t so accurate.
Thankfully I had the offending fat bomb while in the US rather than on the flight. Drinking 3 litres of water and then having the restrooms out of action because of turbulence was bad enough.

Skiphopgoosebumps · 28/10/2022 17:56

That’s great news @prettybird , I hope your DS enjoys the freedom it gives him.

The fat hard naans are baking. I made half the recipe as if they are
good I’ll eat too many!

Baystard · 28/10/2022 18:46

Fantastic bootcamp compliant lunch out today (your great mayo/butter tips saved for another day @venusandmars ! ) - a sharing platter cheeseboard as a main course, just ate the vast quantity of beautiful cheeses and pickles and it was wonderful.

Stopped at M&S on way home and bought clotted cream, polish sausages, more nice cheese, and hot smoked salmon (not all for tonight Grin ). It felt a bit indulgent (It's vair vair naice cheese) but the cost wasn't much different to that of the takeaway I'd have otherwise have had.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

ListenLinda · 28/10/2022 18:46

Just back from shopping for the food for the kids halloween party on Sunday. My word the amount of sugar and carbs 🙈
i’m putting a chilli in the slow cooker for the adults so atleast I won’t be tempted.

On a random note, does anyone have any idea how to suspend sweets in jelly?!

Skiphopgoosebumps · 28/10/2022 19:13

@ListenLinda you could make half the jelly and then when it sets place the rest of the jelly on top but make sure it’s not too hot or the jelly under will melt.

L- eggs, olives and cheese
D - chicken curry, salad and fathead naan

The naan was interesting, probably better as a pizza which is what I’ll slide the left over two for.

Lougle · 28/10/2022 19:20

@ListenLinda I would make half the jelly, let it set, then chop into it with a spoon so that your sweets end up at different levels. Then pour more jelly liquid on top and put the whole thing back in the fridge to set.

I made a nice meatloaf tonight. Beef mince, onion, leek, red pepper, cheddar, garlic, tomato puree (not too much), egg, almond flour to bind.
