Good Morning Campers Smile

Sorry for starting this a bit late - meant to do it last night Blush

Here's the spreadsheet

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Already seen some great losses recorded on the Week 1 thread so that's heartening Smile. It's always great seeing how newbies see that it really does work Grin

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway. We all need to KOKO.

One more week of strict Boot Camp and then we can choose to go on to Boot Canp Light for those of us who want to Halo

@Crazyone84 I was feeling like that this morning, achy, woolly and shaky. I had electrolyte tablet (brought off Amazon, recommended by fellow bootcampers) and felt immediately much better. Might be worth a go

Crazyone84 · 26/10/2022 14:51

@BIWI didn't know there was an FAQ list, have made myself familiar with this and just downed a glass of salty water. Lets see how I feel in 20 mins, cross fingers.

@Frenchpoodle might have to invest in some of those to keep in my draw, difficult when you are in the office, feeling a bit crappy and don't have access to much.

Crazyone84 · 26/10/2022 16:18

I can happily report I feel so much better following a glass of salty water!

RuLu · 26/10/2022 16:21

@prettybird thanks for the clarification. I thought week 2 was introduce fruit hence the tiny amount. I must have misread Smile

@BIWI I'm trying my best, I'm busy & this makes me realise why I haven't joined anything on here in 9 years! Thanks. I really thought I'd found somewhere I could join & feel welcome but instead I'm in tears so well done you. I hope you're happy

prettybird · 26/10/2022 16:29

Flowers @RuLu The first couple of weeks of Boot camp can be tough for newbies, especially if you're suffering from carb flu (I was lucky and never really experienced it) at the same time as navigating a new WoE.

I had to sit and watch dh, ds and my dad est strawberries and raspberries with cream at the weekend Shock but once they ds had finished them, I was fine again SmileHalo

RuLu · 26/10/2022 16:40

@prettybird thanks. I've done Keto before as well as following similar diet when I had GD & first time round, carb flu was awful but this time it's much better/I've had my flu jab so I could feel a bit crap because of that!

prettybird · 26/10/2022 16:42

@RuLu Flowers hope you feel better soon ....and you've reminded me that dh and I need to book our flu and Covid jags Shock

OP posts:
BIWI · 26/10/2022 16:43

I'm sorry you're in tears @RuLu, and it certainly wasn't my intention to make you cry - but it is a bit bizarre that you would join something without checking what the rules are!

Of course I'm not happy that you don't feel welcome, and I wish you every success. There is plenty of support here, I promise you Flowers

BIWI · 26/10/2022 16:44

Glad that worked for you @Crazyone84

RuLu · 26/10/2022 16:44

@prettybird I'm still waiting to be allowed to book my covid one but managed to find a pharmacy doing flu ones on Monday on the spot which was a result (apart from the £20 fee!)

prettybird · 26/10/2022 16:45

@RuLu - I'm old enough to get them both automatically Blush

OP posts:
RuLu · 26/10/2022 16:46

@BIWI I did check the rules. I also made a mistake & misread that I could have fruit from the 2nd week which I posted. Everyone makes mistakes & given that I had a 9lb loss in the first week, I can't be doing that much wrong.

BIWI · 26/10/2022 16:52

That's brilliant @RuLu!

Just bear in mind that weight loss generally slows, sometimes stops and occasionally goes into reverse altogether in weeks 3 & 4, so be prepared for that.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/10/2022 17:34

Tonight’s tea, a bolognaise with garlic mushrooms, no pasta !
before the big stick comes out

luch was prawn salad , and pork scratchings

hope everyone is doing ok
well done @RuLu , that’s a great loss

prettybird · 26/10/2022 17:41

Supper tonight is going to be Chili (using more of that batch cooked ragu base Wink) for dh and ds (adding a tin of kidney beans and some chilli powder to it). I'll keep some of the ragu to one side for me and just add chilli powder Smile I'll serve mine alongside shoogled sprouts and with rice for dh and ds.

If I'm not hungry after rugby training, I might not even bother Hmm

Is donating blood ok at this stage of bootcamp?

Lougle · 26/10/2022 18:00

@RuLu hang in there. That's a great loss.

I'm having some 95% pork sausages tonight. Not perfect, but 3.1g carbs/100g, so they're ok. I'll cook some roast potatoes for DH and the children, and I'll stick to the veg.

ditavonteesed · 26/10/2022 18:04

Cheeky Nando's this afternoon with dd, I accidentally bought even more clothes, I have a problem.

prettybird · 26/10/2022 18:08

@LiesDoNotBecomeUs - as long as you listen to your body, you should be ok I think @debka did so this week - but did find that exercise on top of it was a bit much Grin (might have remembered that wrong Blush).

Don't have the biscuit afterwards though Wink - take your own low carb snack.

Kids' first day back after the half term 🥳🥳

B: boiled eggs with butter and avocado
L: bacon, cheese and mushroom omelette
Snack: mug of low carb veg soup (homemade)
D: shakshuka

Sunsnowsun · 26/10/2022 18:20

Beef bolognaise here as well, I’m having mine with roasted cauliflower and DH and dd have got roast potatoes. Sides are a bit random but need to be used up 😀. On the plus side the oven is full and I don’t need to do any stirring.
I did not sleep well, was definitely hungry in the night, but I am not at all hungry in the day and ate well, but was another 1/2 lb off. Fingers crossed that I sleep better tonight.
I’ve got a vegetarian friend coming for lunch tomorrow, she is coeliac as well, I’m doing stuffed mushrooms, salad and jacket potatoes (not for me). If anyone has a good recipe for stuffed mushrooms, I bought the big ones, I would be very grateful .

prettybird · 26/10/2022 18:25

Sorry - no recipe for mushrooms : they are the other veg of the devil Envy <= not envy Wink ( peppers/capsicum are the main other one). Have you looked in the Veggie recipe thread in the Low Carb Boot Camp topic?

OP posts:
Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/10/2022 18:29

Cream cheese , garlic , oregano is a good filling for mushrooms 🍄

Chocasaurus · 26/10/2022 19:48

Feeling so fed up, sore throat, chronic pain flare in my back and sods law dh away so solo toddler wrangling. Also need to bake tonight for a charity bake sale and hadn't anticipated doing nursery run in the morning (usually DH does drop off) so no idea how I am going to do it juggling cakes as well as work stuff, DD and her stuff.

Food has been ok, although not really been that interested in it.
B - Greek yoghurt and cinnamon, with a coffee and dash of milk
L - scrambled egg, cheese, tomatoes and ham.
D - veggie coconut and tomato curry. Was delicious and having leftovers for lunch
S - a couple of pieces of sausage and mushroom from DDs plate - really need to stop picking at her food.

Right, off to bake and must not eat anything....

venusandmars · 26/10/2022 19:57

@RuLu I'm sorry that you felt a bit wounded. I've been here for several years but I still remember my very first post when I enthusiastically bounced on to the thread (week 1, day 1) with links to 2 keto recipes which contained peanut butter, coconut, cocoa, artificial sweetener and so on. THWACK with the big stick. Bloody hell it smarted and I nearly flounced for ever I am so glad I didn't I can jike about it now.

But I understand. Bootcamp has a simple (but strict) set of rules. It means we don't have to weigh our food, or count our calories or carbs. All those things can be triggering for people who have had a lifetime of yoyo dieting or disordered eating; it can be a complete pain in the arse for a busy person; it can be a nightmare for anyone trying to eat out (whether that be a snack lunch or a Michelin starred meal).

Personally I find this way of eating straightforward and sustainable (when I stick to it properly). But it is not very compromising. You can't have a bit of cake here and a small portion of macaroni there. In the first 2 weeks, when posters who are new to low carb / higher fat are getting used to everything, it does need to be strict. And also freeing (no need to weigh or count anything).

Furthermore God I do sound pompous! in the first few weeks the threads move along very quickly (indeed many posters feel overwhelmed when they're trying to catch up) @BIWI or @prettybird or @ whoever is running the show may well be trying to respond to 20 or 30 posts, they don't always have time to sugar coat the advice and they are trying to preserve the simplicity and clarity of the central message. Hence the big thwack I got. It gives a clear message to other posters not to try my delicious recipe for Oh no, don't mention the peanut and chocolate fat bombs AGAIN at least not until week 3 Grin

I hope you stay with us.
