Good Morning Campers Smile

Sorry for starting this a bit late - meant to do it last night Blush

Here's the spreadsheet

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Already seen some great losses recorded on the Week 1 thread so that's heartening Smile. It's always great seeing how newbies see that it really does work Grin

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway. We all need to KOKO.

One more week of strict Boot Camp and then we can choose to go on to Boot Canp Light for those of us who want to Halo

@NotDonna @prettybird actually just doesn't like those particular things Grin

Jollyholibobs · 27/10/2022 07:38

Morning all. @ditavonteesed enjoy the leg warmers. Although I must admit I had a time shopping with then teenage DD when I
eventually realised that she was encouraging me to buy myself items she planned to borrow.

I am in the office today so less snacking but must focus on water

B Greek Yoghurt
L Pret tuna salad
D miso soup, konjac noodles veg and poached egg.

ditavonteesed · 27/10/2022 07:56

@Jollyholibobs dd doesn't even try to hide this, she calls my wardrobe our wardrobe. Down side of now being same size. At least all these clothes I can't stop buying are getting worn plenty.

Sunsnowsun · 27/10/2022 08:21

Morning all, and thank you for the lovely poem, it took me back to a very happy time.
@RuLu please don’t be discouraged, @BIWI is really lovely and someone who wants you to succeed and you definitely will if you follow the rules. The joy of bootcamp is that you can eat lovely food, but it’s not forgiving.

Thank you also for the mushroom suggestions, I need to walk the dog and will then sort out lunch. Really looking forward to seeing my friend and catching up.

prettybird · 27/10/2022 08:44

@venusandmars - thank you Flowers. I'd forgotten about your early experience of Boot Camp Shock Seems so long ago and you're such a seasoned Bootcamper now Grin Great post Flowers

BTW: I do have glycerol Grin - I used it occasionally in baking Smile

Love the poem Flowers

@FinallyHere Hope your throat is feeling better. I never have throat lozenges any more as I never really feel that they help me Confused. Maybe have some warm water with some ginger in it to soothe it. Or even turmeric tea as that is an anti inflammatory.

@Baystard - still no further forward with the water mystery Confused The rain wasn't quite biblical yesterday but there is another biblical downpour forecast this afternoon. Have run the dishwasher 3 times since but no longer dare to do so overnight (which reminds me - I must go and switch it on ) We've not yet asked our neighbours if they've checked their own loft/where they have above height pipework - and that possibly they need to get their insurance to do the leak test and trace as our plumber. couldn't find anything Confused (and if it's established as our fault, we've already got a note on our insurance).

@ditavonteesed - having seen some pictures of you before, I think your style is "edgy" enough to carry off leg warmers. Go for it Grin

@NotDonna - my hatred of mushrooms and peppers is nothing to do with the spreadsheet. I just hate them! They're good low carb vegetables but I won't touch them Envy <= not envy

@JudyBlumesBlubber Sorry 'bout dat. Please try this link to the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

and thank you lovely boot campers for all the love. I went to sleep on a hot tequila and lemon juice with a quarter teaspoon honey & have kept my paracetamol/ibuprofen levels topped up. I'm very happy with this low carb WOE and convinced that sugar is not any good for me and no good as a treat. Now I'm noticing how prevalent, even ubiquitous it is in medicine, especially the over the counter ones.

Thank you for all your suggestions, I'm working through them and shall report my successes

Minkyscamp · 27/10/2022 09:04

That poem was very poignant.

Im another boot camper with a raging sore throat and cough. I'd normally take covonia nighttime to allow me to sleep, but that's full of sugar no doubt so I'm trying to manage without - so very little sleep.

I've ordered the electrolytes mentioned upthread- so I'm hoping they will help with the tiredness and hopefully this virus will pass soon.

Well done everyone on some amazing losses so far.

venusandmars · 27/10/2022 11:47

Oh yes, sugars in every medicine to make them 'palatable'. They're medicine, just hold your nose and swallow them! Also hate the 'non-drowsy' versions of pain killers, cold remedies, antihistamines. They leave me feeling really wired, so exhausted but eyes wide open and fidgety. I like the full drowsy versions, so I sleep through the sysmptoms.

We have an extravagant dinner out at a distillery tonight - there are 4 little amuse-bouche dishes, bread and cultured butter (I'll just eat the butter, much to dh's horror Shock Grin ), then 6 courses which include langoustine, turbot, lobster, wagyu beef... then 3 mini desserts (which I will barely touch).

All that extravagance in a wonderful setting, then dh and I will walk off to our little campervan parked up less than 10 minutes walk away.

Drinking lots of water today, plus coffee and cream for breakfast, and green veg soup for lunch.

Frenchpoodle · 27/10/2022 12:58

@venusandmars that sounds delicious! I'm very envious of your campervan as well, sounds like my dream 😊

Food today:
B: Low carb toast and butter
L: Avocado, tomato and mozzarella salad with EVO
S: Celery and stilton
D: Broccoli, leek and cream soup

NotDonna · 27/10/2022 14:54

prettybird thank heavens for that! I don’t like sprouts unless done by DH - maybe he shoogles them 🤔

humancalculator · 27/10/2022 17:30

Having to pause for a few days as am travelling in small-town US - hotel breakfast for instance is either carby or sugary or both, and no alternative within walking distance. Am trying where possible to stick to it, though - big green salad with marinated steak strips for lunch, for example. Anyway, it won’t be 100% pure bootcamp this week, but back on the wagon next Tuesday!

debka · 27/10/2022 18:09

Lunch out with my lovely DP today, we had the lunch menu at a Turkish restaurant. I had an aubergine and vegetable starter and then lamb shish with salad. It was a great little midweek treat.

Dinner is Chinese 5 spice duck with cauliflower rice.

Backstreets · 27/10/2022 19:28

12 hr day at work... so much for trying to cut back a bit. Finally back home and don't feel all that hungry but will eat my 3 meals, if skip I just gain weight for some reason! Excited to go food shopping this weekend for more lovely fresh veg, I have lots of ideas to try from the thread.

Lougle · 27/10/2022 20:07

A good day today.

B - 10% fat Greek yoghurt with double cream
L - bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes
D - chicken korma over butter fried cabbage, with a spoon of Greek yoghurt.

UnOeufIsEnough · 27/10/2022 20:22

Reasonable day, although my sneaky weigh in today wasn't looking too positive. I know this works long term though, so keeping the faith!

B: boiled eggs and avocado
L: bacon, eggs and mushrooms
D: bolognaise with lots of hidden veg and cheese on top.

Definitely feeling less hungry than normal. There was no afternoon slump!

sheepdreams · 27/10/2022 20:23

I’ve just had such a failure day today! Given into cravings and succumbed to carbs! I’m disappointed but will get back on to it tomorrow😢

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 27/10/2022 20:26

prettybird · 26/10/2022 18:08

@LiesDoNotBecomeUs - as long as you listen to your body, you should be ok I think @debka did so this week - but did find that exercise on top of it was a bit much Grin (might have remembered that wrong Blush).

Don't have the biscuit afterwards though Wink - take your own low carb snack.

Thanks for this!

I donated and room a low-carb-bread cream cheese sandwich to replace thebiscuits. Yum!

My iron is good and felt fine.
Back to the water.

LiesDoNotBecomeUs · 27/10/2022 20:28

And had

Lucienandjean · 27/10/2022 21:12

Finding it a bit easier this week as dh is away with work - I can cook just for me and there's less temptation around in the form of his snacks.

B: nothing
L: salmon, avocado, salad, oily dressing
D: steak fried in butter, broccoli, tomato, mushrooms
S: Spoonful of yogurt.

ListenLinda · 27/10/2022 21:19

Had my favourite tea tonight, pork belly 😁

Had a NSV today. Around my birthday in September (just before getting back to low carb) I went for a colour match at boots and they advised my skin wasn’t oily enough, so I decided to try a proper skin care routine. That, combined with all the water & LCing, my skin is the clearest it has been for as long as I can remember! Looked in the mirror today and realised how much it has cleared up over the last two weeks so i’m happy with that :)

ChimneyPot · 27/10/2022 21:27

@humancalculator best of luck sticking to BC in small town USA. Just do not do what I did at the weekend in similar circumstances.

I was eating lots of omelettes and salads but felt I needed more fat so got some sort of fat bomb in the CVS. Which was too processed to be proper Boot Camp but I had left my pork scratchings behind on the plane.
Never again. Let’s just say the results were explosive.

Polyols are not my friend.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 27/10/2022 22:13

@ListenLinda
how do u cook the pork belly
I love it , but have never cooked it , and no idea 🤷‍♀️

pinknsparkly · 27/10/2022 22:16

@venusandmars , thanks for that beautiful poem. It very aptly describes my life at the moment with a toddler!

@FinallyHere, hope you're on the road to recovery soon! There are a lot of nasty bugs doing the rounds at the moment 😥

Today was an ok day for me. Didn't have time for breakfast after a morning session of toddler-wrangling, and then lunch was a very pitiful fridge tapas (cheese, cucumber and celery). Dinner was meatballs in tomato sauce over mixed veg and more cheese. Toddler just ate the cheese....!

I'm enjoying the mushroom recipes. I want to branch out into some more veggie dishes and will give these a go!

NotDonna · 28/10/2022 03:20

@sheepdreams don’t dwell on it too much but do you know why it went wrong so you can avoid in future. Tomorrows another day! koko!
@ListenLinda what's NSV please?

those with sore throats/ ill hope you all get well soon!

Had a good day today I think
B - sardine with salad, coffee with milk
L - marlin with grilled veg and added butter. Who knew veg tasted sooooo good with butter on top?
D - pork with grilled pepper, broccoli with added butter and a spoon of cauli gratin (was quite milky & couldn’t see or taste cheese but was ok- very thin sauce so don’t think flour added)

no snacks & no alcohol & lots of water

I need to do a menu plan for next week. I know there’s menu threads, which I’ve had a look at, are huge and definitely useful! Do any of you have some veggie go to’s that are good for strict boot camp, family friendly & not curries please? We aren’t veggie but I try to throw in a couple each week.

NotDonna · 28/10/2022 03:22

How was your tasting menu @venusandmars sounded amazing! Love the idea of a camper van too!
