Good Morning Campers Smile

Sorry for starting this a bit late - meant to do it last night Blush

Here's the spreadsheet

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Already seen some great losses recorded on the Week 1 thread so that's heartening Smile. It's always great seeing how newbies see that it really does work Grin

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway. We all need to KOKO.

One more week of strict Boot Camp and then we can choose to go on to Boot Canp Light for those of us who want to Halo

@Lougle 2 and a half pounds is maintenance, your weight will never stay exactly the same.

Lougle · 25/10/2022 08:26

@ditavonteesed it's 2½ lbs of carbs 😁 before I was back on carbs in the evening, I was fluctuating about 1lb up and down. Then the graph started an upward only trend. My headaches have really ramped up, too.

CaffeineFreee · 25/10/2022 08:36

@poorbuthappy best wishes on your next chapter. HRT has been wonderful here.

down 1lb here but bad++ day yesterday so avoiding scales today!
I forgot 2 meals in the slow oven this week. And overcooked Sunday lunch. Aaagh. Determined though that a bad day won't lead to a bad week.

debka · 25/10/2022 08:52

Pump class booked at the gym this morning, but I gave blood last night so might go for the lighter weights! I've just had a cup of tea- I'll have breakfast when I get home. I far prefer exercising fasted, have a fear of cramp or feeling sick.

B- eggs and butter
L- Not sure, probably salad with ham and cheese
D- Thai red chicken curry with lots of veg

JudyBlumesBlubber · 25/10/2022 08:56

I’m a day late on the weigh in but I’ve lost 2 lbs. Not brilliant but I had a few glasses of wine on Sat at a function I couldn’t avoid. Payback time.

Anyhow we keep going! Another 2 this week and it’s 4 in two weeks and that is impressive.

comfortablyfrumpy · 25/10/2022 09:13

Tiny drop this week, but it is a drop so I will take it!

KOKO ladies :)

JudyBlumesBlubber · 25/10/2022 09:19

What does KOKO mean @comfortablyfrumpy ?

prettybird · 25/10/2022 09:22

@JudyBlumesBlubber "Keep On Keeping On" - ie don't give up Grin

I'm late weighing in this week but am a pound down. Am on week 3 or 4 (not sure exactly), really looking forward to being able to have nuts again & some berries, I'm really fed up of eggs. I am starting to do a bit more exercise though & am definitely over the carb flu.

prettybird · 25/10/2022 09:56

Some good losses continuing to be posted Flowers

Seems to have been a spate of funerals in Scotland - Flowers to those who've been/are going to funerals.

For those trying to cope with food choices on holiday, do the best you can, drink plenty of water and above all enjoy your holidays Smile You can always come back into strict Boot Camp when you get back and at least you're minimising the damage.

A couple of you have mentioned nuts or seeds: can't remember if you're vegetarian or pregnant/breastfeeding (really should write a list to refer to Wink) but unless you are, then no nuts or seeds until Week 3.

Re the plumbing, we ran the cold water tap for an hour yesterday and the dishwasher twice (it's currently pulled out and making access to the fridge really difficult but at least it means we can check for any leaks easily) with no apparent leaks anywhere in our house or leaks into downstairs. We're turning the water off at the mains overnight anyway. We're now wondering whether the leak could have come from our neighbours' own boiler, which is in the roof space above the hall (they also have the former "servants quarters" out the back with their own pitched roof) - about 1m from where the leak was Shock We just jumped to the conclusion it was the dishwasher as it was on at the time. Confused

Now, how to raise the suggestion with them as a possibility to be explored .... ????Hmm It would explain why they continued to "hear" it for a bit even after I'd switched the dishwasher off - but not why it hasn't happened again Confused

OP posts:
BIWI · 25/10/2022 10:00

Could you get your plumber to call them, @prettybird, to raise that as possibility? Explain what he's done/found in your flat?

Skiphopbump · 25/10/2022 10:00

I’m 1.5lbs up since yesterday! Must remind myself that fluctuations are normal and not let it put me off as I don’t think it’s what I’ve eaten tats the problem.

Today is my wedding anniversary so DH suggested going out for lunch or dinner. There’s a new restaurant which has just opened that we might go to but it’s hard to find something low carb. The best option seems to be Shakshouka Baked Eggs.

UnOeufIsEnough · 25/10/2022 10:02

I hate water issues. We lived in a top floor tenement flat a few years ago. Periodically, the guy below used to knock our door at all hours of day and night telling us we we're leaking into him, despite us not running any water at 3am.

Took several plumbers to discover that it only happened during heavy rain and the water was leaking in the roof, bypassing us and finding an outlet through his light fitting. It was so stressful and we felt so guilty as it felt like we were ruining this guy's life, but we had no way of knowing the shared roof was leaking as it wasn't affecting us at all!

debka · 25/10/2022 10:07

Well it turns out that pump class without breakfast and giving blood the night before is a terrible idea. I felt really lightheaded within about 10 minutes and ended up leaving before I fainted 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

debka · 25/10/2022 10:08

I'm literally a nurse as well, I really ought to know better!!

prettybird · 25/10/2022 10:42

@BIWI Dh has already posed the possibility to our plumber via WhatsApp but he hasn't got back to him (we knew he was busy today though). He's got to come back soon anyway to service our heating and was going to have another poke around then. It would be legitimate to ask to see their roof space then, just to rule it out. The picture is from our back kitchen window (dishwasher is in the island unit) over their roof so I'd say the flue was about 2m from where the water was coming out the ceiling. But water travels.....

@UnOeufIsEnough - we're also wondering if it was the heavy rain somehow causing water ingress although we've only recently had the roof and soffits done (and they had extra work done on the roof over their back rooms as that bit isn't communal ) and the roofer is excellent.

If it weren't for the fact that we get on well with our neighbours, I'd say that I hoped that they have another leak, while our water is switched off WinkBlush

We didn't get on so well with our previous neighbours though (albeit they've been gone 15 years) and they often took shortcuts with work that needed done....

In other positive news, we paid off our mortgage yesterday Grin don't hate me Flowers

There was only £2000 left to pay and we were only paying £94/month (had paid off a lot about 18 years ago with a redundancy payment dh got) but when we got the notice that it was going up to a whole £97 Shock we decided to get round to paying it all off (the more important point was the interest was 6.75% which is more than get from savings).

OP posts:
Skiphopbump · 25/10/2022 11:06

That’s great news @prettybird . We paid ours off a couple of years ago. It was a great weight lifted off DHs shoulders as we have no plans to upsize. Now we instead pay rent for DDs student accommodation which isn’t much less than the mortgage was!

UnOeufIsEnough · 25/10/2022 11:06

Congrats on the mortgage @prettybird!

Yes, we were relieved it was the roof. Although it was a fairly expensive fix, it felt less personal as it wasn't our fault!

ListenLinda · 25/10/2022 11:51

Second day of half term and my last day off with DD. We have just carved pumpkins and i’m just waiting for my lunch, which is calamari, with some chopped bacon pieces, on top of a huge salad with luxury coleslaw.

I have some leeks to use up but not sure what to do with them, or how to cook them. I just saw them in Aldi and though, ooo more green veg 😅

Sunsnowsun · 25/10/2022 12:10

Congratulations on the mortgage @prettybird .

I felt like I ate a lot of food, chicken, vegetables and butter yesterday, also drank a lot of water, amazing really that this way of eating gives such positive results, but as a long term bootcamper, I know that it does. You just have to koko.

Its half term here so we are planning a trip to the cinema 😀. The marvel movie is 2 hours long, I’m pretty sure that I will need to nip out for a wee 💦😂.

have a good day everyone

Crazyone84 · 25/10/2022 12:43

what are your thoughts on tuna or egg mayo sandwich fillers?

Just thinking of options for supermarket grab and go bits.

prettybird · 25/10/2022 13:09

@Crazyone84 - check the carb counts and ingredients on them. Some mayonnaises have added sugar! (Closer to salad cream)

They should be ok but might not be.

Ditto with coleslaw.

OP posts:
NotDonna · 25/10/2022 13:21

@Crazyone84 as long as they’re not put on bread (🤣) I’d guess they’d be ok. Is there a carb count on the packaging?

@Sunsnowsun is there a new marvel movie out? Surprised DD3 hasn’t mentioned it.

prettybird well done with mortgage. 6.75% interest is 😱😱 We’re hoping to have ours done by March/April. Fingers crossed for the leak. We’ve had a kitchen ceiling leak for over a year - constantly getting the roofer out - don’t anyone EVER have a flat roof!

lougle probably a bit of both. Rubbish options. It’s buffet but everything is crumbed, deep fried, in sauces with no labelling. Very little veg and often mixed in rice or stuffed with rice. I can usually find something that’s not too bad. But it’s hard and not very yummy, so then tempted to have ice cream - done twice in last 7 days. Sweet stuff is my nemesis so I am pleased that I’ve not had cakes. Drinks difficult too. Im having loads and loads of water but DH having wine & beer and DD3 virgin cocktails. I saw they had blue cans of ‘Canada Dry’ yesterday and asked what it was - turns out to be fizzy water! I was ecstatic. I have had a couple of diet cokes to break up the boredom but they’re disgustingly sweet. At home I’d have teas and cucumber water etc. However as prettybird says I’ll try to minimise any damage best I can and do strict boot camp on return. KOKO!!

Sunsnowsun · 25/10/2022 13:31

@NotDonna its Black Adam, sorry not a marvel but some kind “DC super hero” movie, can you tell I’m not that keen !!!!
