Summer Low Carb Mini Bootcamp - week 2

Oneborneverydecade · 09/08/2021 07:46

Morning and welcome to week 2

I'll link to the spreadsheet in a comment below

Fingers crossed everyone's had a great week weight wise and that week 2 brings a break from the rain for most of us!

Please remember when you get on the scales this morning/tomorrow morning, that some people lose weight much quicker than others.

If you have a lot of weight to lose, chances are that you will lose it quicker than if you are closer to your target. Some people will lose a shed load in week one, but then nothing in week two - whereas others will lose more modestly, but consistently, week after week. The only thing that matters is what is happening to you.

If you haven't lost much, please don't be disappointed. Make sure that you are genuinely following the rules - are you drinking enough water? Are you eating high fat? That one glass or wine, or that small piece of cake - they all add up.

And even if you have genuinely followed the rules - if you haven't seen the scales move by much - have you measured?

We are all different, and rates of loss will be different too. Just think about the food that you have been eating, and consider how this WOE compares with low calorie or low fat diets.

Changing to a low carb way of eating as compared to a low fat or low calorie diet is not an easy transition, and it is to be expected that there will be snags along the way. Hopefully the Bootcamp threads will give you the help and guidance that you need - and I hope that when you get on the scales next, your hard work will be rewarded!

(thank you for the motivational words @biwi Smile )

Thanks for the new thread.

B - avocado
L - omelette with veg and cheese
D - sausage casserole with roast cauliflower

BestIsWest · 09/08/2021 07:54

Morning. No weighing for me but an inch off my hips (at last).

Kerplunkk · 09/08/2021 07:57

Morning, thanks for the new thread Smile

Does anyone have a recipe including some leeks?

ZiggZagg · 09/08/2021 08:01

Morning!

Im sure there are some on the recipes thread, I do love a good leek!

I have managed to lose 7lb this week, I'm so pleased with myself!! KOKO!

Back to work today so I should have more structure to my day!

Have a lovely day everyone Smile

TidyDancer · 09/08/2021 08:02

Hi all, thanks for the new thread!

Week one loss of 8.3lbs but (I mentioned this on the last thread) I do have a lot to lose so I'm keeping a reasonable perspective on it. I'm really pleased and surprised though.

B: omelette
L: prawn mayo salad
D: smoked haddock and stirfry

Oneborneverydecade · 09/08/2021 08:06

Great results @BestIsWest @ZiggZagg @TidyDancer

I've stayed the same which was to be expected

Going to have a much better week this week!

Kerplunkk · 09/08/2021 08:07

Thank you will take a look at the recipe threads.

Well done everyone on losses.

2lb loss for me this week, another 1lb and I’d be in a new stone bracket, this pushes me
To KOKO as I haven’t seen that particular stone bracket for a long time!!

TidyDancer · 09/08/2021 08:11

Thank you @Oneborneverydecade. 🙂

It's genuinely the first WOE I've ever encountered where I don't feel deprived or hungry! I definitely need to expand what I'm eating so I don't get bored but I'm not trying to challenge myself too much while I'm getting used to it!

Nobloat21 · 09/08/2021 08:12

Well I'm new to this woe and i fell off the wagon big time this weekend. Sorry to be a downer. However, i think I'm going to continue on bootcamp light. I did have a 4lbs loss but am now just registering a 1lb loss. So 189lbs for me Blush. I am someone who doesn't know how to cook and as a veggie I've found it tricky, but I've learnt lots in the first week and I'm going to keep going! Its proven to me how fast i gain weight once i hit the carbs.

Onelittlepiglet · 09/08/2021 08:18

Oops posted on the old thread! STS this week but that was week three for me so to be expected. Have lost 7lbs so far which I’m very pleased with. Would love to lose another stone to be in a healthier place (will be carrying on after this mini bootcamp not expecting to lose that in 5 weeks!).

prettybird · 09/08/2021 08:21

@Nobloat21 - as a veggie you're allowed nuts & seeds anyway in "strict" Boot Camp (and some legumes? Sorry, not sure as I'm not a veggie Blush). Hope that helps Smile

Nobloat21 · 09/08/2021 08:33

Thank you! I just wanted a few raspberries in my yoghurt! Smile

ElasticFirecracker · 09/08/2021 08:35

hello all

I am pleased and surprised that I've lost 2.2 lb this week. I've been mainly sticking to the plan but have definitely not been perfect. I've done quite a bit of exercise and managed Parkrun on Saturday.

My main downfalls this week have been eating too much of the yoghurt I've been making and just being a bit snacky.

@Kerplunkk Well done, and I hope you get into that new stone bracket next week.

Bryonyshcmyony · 09/08/2021 08:35

Morning all, I've stayed the same which is fine as I had my first ever weekend where I went off plan.

B: coffee and eggs
L: tuna salad
D: pork stir fry

Dd gets her a level results tomorrow and wants to go to wagamama with a friend - scourge of low carbers everywhere. She is insistent that I go too. Sigh.

naemates · 09/08/2021 08:38

5.5lbs off for me which is amazing. I haven't been terribly good as I had a difficult week, but previous difficult weeks would have me eating everything in the house and then some, whereas I made not too bad bad choices IYSWIM.

New week, new me!

Today is
B: coffee with cream x2
L: courgette soup with crudités and tzatziki
D: chicken Mayo, broccoli and asparagus pre gym, boiled eggs ready for after if I need it

BestIsWest · 09/08/2021 08:39

It’s odd as four months in I’ve seen virtually no loss from my hips and waist but my arms, legs, chest and shoulders have definitely shrunk. So it’s good to see the tape measure move. I am wearing jeans that would not do up at the start of boot camp though.
I’ve got four or five stone to lose though so it’s bound to take time.

MsAwesomeDragon · 09/08/2021 08:43

Morning. Thanks for the new thread.
3lbs off for me this week, which I'm very happy with.

Jollyholibobs · 09/08/2021 09:13

Thanks for the new thread. Well done those with impressive losses. 1.6lbs down for me but 5.4lbs down on my start a few days early. I have been low carbing mostly for the last year but this boot camp was needed to refocus and review a few bad habits creeping in.

@Nobloat21 I like your attitude. Learn from your wobble and then KOKO. Try and think of it as a way of eating not a diet. I am an ex vegetarian who now eats occasional fish. I think I have been far too dependent on carbs in my diet in the past and it takes a new mindset to find alternatives. And everyone can cook some are just more experienced than others. I have the Rose Elliot low carb vegetarian book and have some family favourites from that. Good luck. Keep asking questions here.

HarrietDVane · 09/08/2021 09:15

Morning all - STS for me, but that's ok. I had a big loss last week (have been eating LC for a while) and my body seems to react like that. KOKO and all that. And I need to drink more water!

B - coffee
L - avocado, green salad, some sort of cold meat
D - salmon, lemon cream sauce, spinach, green beans

fitflopqueen · 09/08/2021 09:27

Managed 3lb loss this week which is great as just finished Fast800 last week and now only 2lb to get to the 10 stone something range and am back in healthy BMI.
B - Coffee & cream
L - Smoked Mackeral & mixed salad
D - ? unsure yet

PastramiNoRye · 09/08/2021 09:27

4.4lb off for me.

B: two boiled eggs and half an avocado, peppermint tea, creamy coffee
L: feta salad
D: chicken fajita salad bowl

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 09/08/2021 09:37

Morning all

Ok so it’s not good news, 5lbs up Blush but tbh it would have been 7lbs yesterday. Went on holiday for a few days and the booze and evening meals have worked their wonders.

The point of this for me is to stay accountable though, so I’m registering the gain, drawing the line, and back on the wagon.
Will be better next week.

Andi2020 · 09/08/2021 09:38

Thanks for new thread
Well done on all the losses
2lb off for me
4lb off for DH lots to loose hopefully this will keep him motivated
Have a good week
Another 2lb and I will be in a new stone rateGrin will find that harder to maintain.

Dellabob123 · 09/08/2021 09:44

Hi everyone, I’m checking in from holiday. Great news on the losses.

It’s been a bit tricky with food but I batch cooked a load of cheese muffins, which I’ve had for breakfasts. And tool almonds and olives on the road when out and about. I’ve managed steak and veggies that I’ve cooked a few nights and gammon/veg, but I’ve had a few drinks. The farm does amazing cooked breakfasts so that has helped!

I can’t weigh though but so long as I do t fall into the holiday ice cream and cream tea trap I think I can stay on track. This is keeping me motivated!!
