Summer Low Carb Mini Bootcamp - week 2

Morning and welcome to week 2

I'll link to the spreadsheet in a comment below

Fingers crossed everyone's had a great week weight wise and that week 2 brings a break from the rain for most of us!

Please remember when you get on the scales this morning/tomorrow morning, that some people lose weight much quicker than others.

If you have a lot of weight to lose, chances are that you will lose it quicker than if you are closer to your target. Some people will lose a shed load in week one, but then nothing in week two - whereas others will lose more modestly, but consistently, week after week. The only thing that matters is what is happening to you.

If you haven't lost much, please don't be disappointed. Make sure that you are genuinely following the rules - are you drinking enough water? Are you eating high fat? That one glass or wine, or that small piece of cake - they all add up.

And even if you have genuinely followed the rules - if you haven't seen the scales move by much - have you measured?

We are all different, and rates of loss will be different too. Just think about the food that you have been eating, and consider how this WOE compares with low calorie or low fat diets.

Changing to a low carb way of eating as compared to a low fat or low calorie diet is not an easy transition, and it is to be expected that there will be snags along the way. Hopefully the Bootcamp threads will give you the help and guidance that you need - and I hope that when you get on the scales next, your hard work will be rewarded!

(thank you for the motivational words @biwi Smile )
@Bryonyshcmyony my Dalmatian is called susuwatari (soot sprite) as I though she looked like she had been attacked by them.
Love this

Gorgeous puppy!

I’ve had a mini whoosh overnight and am now 3lbs down this week (1lb from yesterday and 2lb today) and bang on 12st. Am so excited that I might see 11st something soon! It’s helping stay motivated.

Today is:
B - Greek yoghurt and tiny bit of double cream plus a couple of frozen raspberries
L - roasted mushrooms, spinach, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and an egg.
D - probably some kind of salad or I might have scrambled eggs with a piece of bacon and loads more mushrooms and spinach.

Having trouble getting a range of veg at the moment (it’s very seasonal where I live overseas) so no broccoli, cauliflower at the moment. But can get courgettes, celeriac and loads of different salad leaves.

Slinking back in, had a great start to last week but then went wild, all sorts of off-plan stuff in huge quantities while hosting family and a big 21st party. One day into the new week and one day into my period, I'm 1lb up on my starting weight.

Positives- I did my 3rd parkrun in a row, have been biking and swimming, and I'm still having breakfast at work around 10am which is a great new habit I've solidified. I also loved my charity shop dress for DSD's party and felt great in it so my environmental challenge to buy no brand new clothes this year is going really well.

Just over half a stone to lose to get to the bottom of my maintenance zone.

Will try to stay on the thread, when I catch up after a few days I always wish I had so I can chip in with ideas!

Daveggie1 · 10/08/2021 09:02

@StuntNun great idea, we did get in a right mess trying to eat them 😂

ElasticFirecracker · 10/08/2021 09:31

@cheeseisthebest what a lovely pup!

MuthaHubbard · 10/08/2021 11:42

@cheeseisthebest oh my heart! Would love a puppy but just not practical as wfh will end any time soon

Daveggie1 · 10/08/2021 11:53

Weighed myself today as forgot yesterday morning, 3lb loss which I’m happy with. We have a wedding the first week of September and I wanted to lose 1/2 stone. Might just about do it if I stick to it. We have a holiday in a few weeks though which won’t help 😆

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/08/2021 12:35

I had a wonderful morning! DD (22) made me a load of babysitting tokens as part of my 40th b'day gifts so I arranged to use a 'morning babysitting token' plus a '1 hour baby sitting token'. So DD got up with her little sisters (at 6am!) And I got a long lie 😍

Back on the bandwagon today. Weighed myself to see the damage caused by falling off a couple nights ago - over a stone apparently!!??? Surely not Blush

B. Bulletproof coffee
L. Omelette and fried garlic corgettes
D. Probably pork chops with FLGV

New incentive to be strict! DP just informed me we have been invited out for a couple's night with one of his friends and his wife. I haven't met them before and really don't want to look like a burst couch!

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/08/2021 12:36

Erm, DD is 21, not 22. Clearly still have a fuzzy head from my wonderful long lie Grin

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/08/2021 12:52

Could someone add me to the spreadsheet please, I'm not sure how to do it myself

Rshard · 10/08/2021 13:35

Gorgeous puppy, I would love one too but similar muthahubbard am likely to be returning to the office for at least 1/2 days a week.

Your dd sounds lovely buffy, what a thoughtful gift.

cheeseisthebest · 10/08/2021 14:46

Thank you everyone.

Dellabob123 · 10/08/2021 15:01

Can one of you lovelies talk me down from getting an ice cream? With the kids on holiday. Had LC breakfast and packed my own own tuna Mayo salad and feel like a misery not eating one. Feel a bit down about it.

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 10/08/2021 15:11

@prettybird btw, I’m half way through painting the bathroom and… everyone in my house hates it Confused

I’ve only finished the first patchy coat so it’s not looking it’s best but I think it’s going to take them a while to get used to. Grin
It is very dark and it used to be the lightest room in the house.

I’m telling them they’ll love it in the end…

prettybird · 10/08/2021 15:13

Do you really want an ice cream or do you just want one because everyone else is having one? Hmm

Why not treat yourself to a coffee while they're having the ice cream. Unless you're at a super-duper speciality place, I bet you've had similar ice creams before and know what they taste like, so you don't need another one.

BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 10/08/2021 15:13

@Dellabob123 I fell off the wagon for 2 nights and according to my scales it cost me a stone! The carbs weren't worth it. Be strong! You can do it! Maybe a nice cold drink would help?

@Rshard she is lovely 🥰 thank you.

prettybird · 10/08/2021 15:24

@Ifeelmuchlessfat - first coat wasn't so good in ours either. To be fair on dh, he was prepared to trust my vision and once the white sanitary ware, white towel rail, light floor and white window surround and skirting was in, they "lifted" it.

Two pictures: before and after the bath went in, for contrast (floor and window surround in, I think).

To be fair, it's not a "bright" room now per se (although it is "light"): it's opulent and elegant, as one friend described it.

....bathroom as it was before but after the central heating had been replaced, hence the tiles had been removed and a temporary runner being used instead to cover the bare planks

ditavonteesed · 10/08/2021 15:41

Wow @prettybird that is beautiful, I would like to get bathroom done one day but I'm thinking when dds leave home as it's always a tip anyway with all their stuff.
Well I was having a bad day (not food wise) but just took dds laptop to get fixed and it took 5 minutes and the guy didn't charge us anything so that cheered me right up.
On august 27th I'm going to a sleazy rock festival thing with my lady friends and was thinking I could wear something very small and entirely inappropriate if I can shift a couple more pounds.

Dellabob123 · 10/08/2021 15:59

Thank you @BuffyTheBuffetSlayer @prettybird. I just felt like i was being miserable and joining in with the kids. Feels like mummy is boring. It’s just in my head. I’ve been doing this for 8 or 9 weeks now and although lost loads initially I can’t shift a few flabby bits. Everything ‘melted’ the first few times/ not now. But age probably has a massive amount to do with it I suppose.

Sorry, just feeling a bit glum. Will feel better after a mint tea back at base.

Dellabob123 · 10/08/2021 16:02

@prettybird love your bathroom makeover. So beautiful Just painted my orangery in a deep blue too...love it!

PastramiNoRye · 10/08/2021 16:26

Love a good makeover pic! Looks lovely!

B: leek and chorizo soup...felt a bit odd eating soup for breakfast but it needed used up. Two creamy coffees

L: Roast chicken with Greek salad

D: beef stew with celeriac and Savoy cabbage on the side. Not very summery but I'm in Scotland and it wasn't very warm yesterday when I made it (unlike today!)!

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/08/2021 16:27

So - A level results day AND Wagamama for lunch....

B: two eggs fried in butter drizzled with chilli oil (yum btw)
L: chicken yakatori skewers, tea stained egg, kimchi, miso soup and pickles. Diet coke mixed with sparkling water (the only way I can drink diet coke or it is too sickly)
D: very little probably two glasses of champagne (results day celebration!)

Rshard · 10/08/2021 17:17

Congratulations to your dc bryonyschmyony, waiting for GCSEs on Thursday here.

BestIsWest · 10/08/2021 17:24

@prettybird do you mind me asking the dimensions of your bath? DH has a desire to have a walk in shower in our bathroom and the only way to achieve this is to have a smaller bath (or do away with the bath all together- over my dead body) .
We’ve spent weeks wrangling over this and it’s making me cross because there is nothing wrong with the current arrangement and we have other priorities for spending.
