Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

Evening! (52 and 5' 7 or 8)

Braced for whatever the morning brings.

prettybird · 25/04/2021 23:41

I've just been to my dad's who had made a scallops (cheap because of Brexit as they can't export them), bacon and black pudding on loaded mashed potatoes (I had to leave that) dish, with a tomato salad. I literally had a single sip of the excellent South African Sauvignon Blanc that dh had brought across especially to go with the dish Halo.

Dad also made a melktert (milk tart) for dessert (South African speciality: a sort of custard tart but milkier Wink with almond and vanilla essence and topped with cinnamon). It's one of my favourite desserts and I didn't have any : double HaloHalo

Dh and dad then got into the "the best way to lose weight is to eat less: calories in = calories out" discussion (which is what dad always used to tell mum) Hmm. I refused to engage as I knew that there was no point Sad

Lots of water Grin

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 25/04/2021 23:44

Cheers @BIWI, and thanks for new thread.

I need more veg and a bit more water daily, but don’t think I’ve done too bad, although my meals are very boring compared to the examples listed. I’m just too lazy knackered to cook when I get back from work, although I know I’ll have much more energy soon on this WOE.

Attributing my knackeredness to TOTM, perimenopause and work stress. Eternal thanks to @StuntNun and others for the ibuprofen recommendation. Just wondering how long it’s ok to take before I should start worrying?

Any thoughts on the ‘smart water’?

Fingers crossed 🤞🏻 for us all for tomorrow.

NSV I think my work trousers are starting to feel a little looser 🤫

Apileofballyhoo · 25/04/2021 23:46

I've been doing bootcamp light since I started my 10 weeks on 15th Feb so they've just finished. But I really need to do 2 weeks of strict bootcamp again, just working up the courage to go without chocolate (I've been sticking to 85% Aldi little bars, not the new crap high carb 85% big bar) and I suspect I'm eating too much dairy. Went from 9'10 roughly (scales is crap) to 9'3 but back up to 9'5 now for the past week. I've been lazy about water too but I am very pleased with the weight loss overall.

I hit 9'3 in about week 6 I think and kept it off until this week. It's great to be able to lose weight and not feel deprived. I don't feel deprived at all maintaining. Just need to watch the chocolate - that's stress not hunger or cravings - and probably see if I lose more by doing strict 2 weeks again, and maybe decreasing dairy if that doesn't work.

Well done on your restraint @prettybird ! Both on the meal and on not engaging in a pointless discussion. Your healthier and better life will prove your point perfectly, no need for words Grin

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 25/04/2021 23:56

@Apileofballyhoo please keep posting your maintenance ‘journey’, I tend to descend too quickly to carby twatdom struggle with this, so advice much appreciated.

... a time. Gah, my fat fingers always bugger it up 🤦🏻‍♀️

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 26/04/2021 00:12

I thought I’d be on here all night, but despite sleeping for 17 hours of the last 24 I’m still dozing off Shock Confused grateful though as I’m normally something of an insomniac 🤷🏻‍♀️

Apileofballyhoo · 26/04/2021 00:25

Gosh beery I'm no expert, I suppose I see it as maintaining as I was no longer losing, but I more or less kept to the bootcamp light rules. There are only me DH and DS in the house and DH and I'm not tempted by their food much, except if I make quiche. I tried making a crustless baby one for me but I found it really eggy, I'll have another go I think.

My downfall is chocolate but I only like nice chocolate and they'll eat any old crap so I'm not tempted by that either, so long as I have my 85% stuff (though I'm eating too much of it). I've been eating too much cheese too I think, I am fond of cheese and I'll easily eat half a wedge of brie or half a log of goat's cheese or more. And half a carton of Greek yoghurt. I'm not a huge meat eater at all and I'm not mad on eggs either (unless they are mixed with flour, butter and sugar and baked, I can eat a surprising amount that way!).

I just have it in my head now that I don't eat bread or toast, so I don't reach for those things. I'm not hugely hungry at dinner time, which is usually about 7.30-8 but that's because I'm really hungry at 6 and that's when I go for the extra yoghurt or cheese, or chocolate. I was thinking about eating my dinner at that time and seeing if I'm then hungry later on.

I'm still learning what suits me best! I am sure I would do better if I logged everything because I'd probably see a pattern. I need to try more recipes too, really easy ones!

ZiggZagg · 26/04/2021 01:11

Thank you @OnceUponAMidnightBeery , that's what I'm doing, one day at a time.

nowlook · 26/04/2021 06:08

Morning all! Good to see you @ZiggZagg.

Re Smart Water. I just don't get it MidnightBeery. They take perfectly lovely Abbeywell natural mineral water, run it through a fancy filter (reverse osmosis) to remove all the minerals (including sodium!) then add some back in artificially. Bonkers and expensive (in terms of processing). Nothing wrong with it from a BC perspective though.

ListenLinda · 26/04/2021 06:11

1.5lbs here, I an pleased with that.
Had the worst nights sleep in the world last night, I could cry.
Anyway, KOKO, trying to come round with a creamy coffee.
I wonder if weeks 3&4 are slow due to the switch to BC lite, where we switch to the things (whilst still LC that we have restricted.
I may stay on strict BC this week anyway, just to see. Not really been a cathy twat but anxious to not have the same frustration as last BC where I was getting annoyed the scales weren’t moving.

Tickledtrout · 26/04/2021 06:13

@ZiggZagg yes one day at a time is all you need to think aboutFlowers

Best part of four pounds off here. Had to scale back the eggs and dairy as they do not help my constipation. So definitely a pescatarian rather than vegetarian week. Still not a fully functioning bowel Blush despite fybogel and senna. Haven't made mind up about reinstating my oatbran prune breakfast regime.

First open water swim of the year on Saturday. So good for my brain as well as my body. Feel a brighter person all round.

Have a good day everyone

VeryLittleOwl · 26/04/2021 06:20

Morning - 2lbs off for me. Might have been slightly more, but I was having a car picnic for lunch yesterday and saw something that looked like a thick Spanish omelette alongside the rollitos, so grabbed it, ate it and then realised it had potatoes in. Lesson learned, read the labels... It wasn't horrendous at 10% carbs, but it probably didn't help.

@AthelstoneTheUnready - I swear I haven't touched any blue cells, but the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is no longer calculating % loss since original start for me. It did last week, but this week is just a blank box. Any chance you could take a look?

Timetobuckup · 26/04/2021 06:45

Good morning all

I have lost just over 2 pounds, I was hoping for more (of course) as I have been good and stuck to the plan. I have to remind myself that it is at least going in the right direction.

Anyway my plan is to stick with what I am doing for now .

Well done for all the losers !

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 26/04/2021 06:46

Good morning one and all! Here is a hopeful sunrise to welcome you to week 3!

I have had my WHOOSH with six pounds off and feeling very happy about it, but now gritting my teeth for the week 3 and 4 doldrums/stall.

I am 5 foot two and a half (the half matters!) and 48.

Thank you @VeryLittleOwl for the cute lambs! Very much appreciated!

Forgot to post my meals yesterday as knackered after Covid jab still (had it on Wednesday - wasn’t expecting to still be feeling it!)

B: duck egg scrambled eggs with lots of butter, mushrooms with lots of butter, token bit of smoked salmon as almost none left
L: we had ate breakfast so just brunch and lupper. Had a snack of some nuts, completely forgetting they are out this week sorry
S: barbecue: chicken and mayo, steak and lots of salad. Yum!

Just about to go and tackle a blocked drain: not so yum!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 26/04/2021 06:47

Forgot the hopeful sunrise: here it is!

Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp
Moonswimmer · 26/04/2021 06:52

Morning everyone. Well done choos that’s a great whoosh!

Yesterday
B: stewed rhubarb (unsweetened)
L: Parma ham and salad
D: burgers and salad at barbecue

Was a bit worried about the barbecue but managed to make good choices and avoid the cake etc.

4lbs off and down from BMI 35 to BMI 34!

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 26/04/2021 06:53

Ha my maths is terrible - I just added to the spreadsheet and realised it’s THREE pounds off...BlushGrinI find the total pounds thing confusing - anyway I am still very happy so all good!

pangolinfan · 26/04/2021 07:00

Morning everyone, and well done choos on an amazing whoosh. Only one off here, but it is my 4th week and I know I haven't drunk enough water until the last two days, so I'm fine with that. I'm 5 ft 6.5 inches and 57, and the half inch still matters, especially now my teenagers tower pitilessly over me.

debka · 26/04/2021 07:05

4lb down here, which I'm delighted about. I've actually lost almost everything I gained in the last few months. I am not sure if I really want to lose much more than half a stone from here: I bought some beautiful dresses earlier in the year which won't fit if I lose more than that, I think.
B- eggs and butter
L- Greek yogurt with walnuts
D- grilled chicken with peppers and salad

nowlook · 26/04/2021 07:05

Another 2lbs for me. Hoping for a post-period whoosh this week (it's not week 3 for me; it's week 15!) so will be upping the water.

Lovely to see some good results. KOKO!
