Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp

As ever here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I rather suspect, given the confessions/visits by Cathy Twat, that a lot of Bootcampers aren't going to have much luck on the scales at the end of this week.

As I've warned, cheating really won't help - and this is a very unforgiving WOE. I have all my fingers and toes crossed that you will be lucky, and will see a good result on the scales, however. Or with the tape measure - or that you're fitting into your clothes better.

So now you have a choice

After the first two strict weeks of Bootcamp you can, if you wish, move on to Bootcamp Light. This means that you can re-introduce some fruit (mainly berries) and some nuts/seeds, and alcohol in moderation - and restricted to dry wine and clear spirits.

BUT

... you also need to remember/know that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for seeing little or no weight loss - sometimes you may even see a slight gain.

So it's up to you if you want to relax things.

If you haven't been totally on plan over the last week, I strongly recommend that you stay on strict Bootcamp for another week

If you feel you're ready to move on, then you can go to full-on Bootcamp Light, or you could consider a hybrid - so strict Bootcamp during the week and then Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever your choice, I hope that week 3 is kind to you!

Please, please, please remember that this week/next week are our infamous 'Doldrums' and so don't be disappointed if you don't see any losses on the scales

This is also another good reason why you should be taking your measurements - the scales might not be moving, but your body shape may well be changing.

Anyway, whatever you decide, good luck! Flowers

The iron will sticks in my mind, cherries Grin I suspect you may be the only BC'er to never have cheated.

Random789 · 02/05/2021 19:55

Lots of love and hugs to posters who are dealing with difficult times, their own illness or that of a family member, and to posters who have spoken about some of the difficult family dynamics that shape/squash a sense of self worth. Flowers

And congratulations, Fusion on your half marathon. It sounds like it was a good day even though you missed yout PB.

I've had quite an active day. A 40 min run, during which I felt quite strong. A bit of cold-weather gardening, and a chilly trip to the seaside to scramble on slippery rocks.

B: 2 coffees with cream; bacon and egg with leftover cabbage (first bacon for about 2 years!)
L: An avocado
D: Ostrich fillet, halloumi slices, cabbage (again!)
Another coffee with cream and a spoonul of mascarpone.

Moonswimmer · 02/05/2021 20:11

I remember you too @ilovecherries , though I was under a different name so you won’t remember me. So sorry to hear you’ve had a tough time xxx

ElasticFirecracker · 02/05/2021 20:46

@Hopeislost thanks taking pics is a really good idea.

ElasticFirecracker · 02/05/2021 20:49

Breakfast bacon & egg
Lunch : mackerel in oil artichokes in oil

Snack celery sticks & cream cheese.

Dinner: fried spicy chicken w cauliflower and spinach.

FinallyHere · 02/05/2021 20:52

@colouringindoors friendly hand on your shoulder and 💐

@ilovecherries hello, it's great to see you back. welcome. So sorry you have been having such a time of it. Hope it all gets itself sorted.

Your consistent approach to BC was an inspiration for me, too. Your example of keeping LCHF going throughout your holiday because it's the new normal was revolutionary for me.

Had the best holiday ever.

Makegoodchoices · 02/05/2021 21:27

So far so good through the weekend
B: Greek yogurt
L: forgot as was rushing to get ready for an impromptu bbq
D: Pork steak, halloumi, salad, veggie skewer

Did not eat the nice potato salad, skipped the cornettos, forgot guest had brought profiteroles (husband and son just found and ate them), drank water. I feel very virtuous but with a bit of a headache.

StuntNun · 02/05/2021 21:28

Thanks for everyone that's going through a hard time at the moment.

B: Nothing as 16:8
L: Almond cheese muffin with butter, bacon and eggs, small piece of cheese.
D: Roast pheasant with roasted veggies and a thin jus for gravy.
No snacks! A good food day today!

Timetobuckup · 02/05/2021 21:33

A good food day
B mushrooms and a scrambled egg
L wasn't hungry but did have a slice of ham and a small piece of cheese about 4 as felt a little peckish.
D meatballs
I have had a couple of gins but have resisted all the snacks.

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 02/05/2021 21:45

@ilovecherries I love cheese too 😂 If they could combine the two and make it BC friendly... 😍

@Random789 I’ve never had ostrich, what’s it like please?

@ElasticFirecracker I’ve never had artichoke either Blush

Or halloumi, we live pretty rurally and a lot of things are hard to come by. Like pheasant though, @StuntNun do you prefer yours fresh or hung? Only had fresh here, interested in how it changes the flavour.

Muck Out May news, all recycling sorted and out, carrier bag of junk gone. Handbag feels blissfully lighter. It’s a start.

FusionChefGeoff · 02/05/2021 22:48

@AthelstaneTheUnready wow you've got a lot to cope with I hope you get a break at some point.

@ListenLinda that also sounds very stressful. I hope you can sleep and the ring is fixable.

I'm sorry I've forgotten everyone else's names and my brain has left for the evening so just wanted to do my food quickly

B: 2 buttery boiled eggs
L: feta, pickled beetroot, mint salad -
Bit of cheese with Mayo as starving!
3 wafer thin slices salami
1 slice naice ham
D: 2 sausages, cabbage & chorizo, small
Cauli cheese, tiny swede bake
Strawberries and Greek yoghurt

Andi2020 · 02/05/2021 22:53

Just caught up on the days reading thread

Flowers to anyone with medical problems or family with medical problems

Well done to all those running. I can only do walking

Grin to teenage problems I have 3 but ok only 1 has given me any bother so far and seems to be quite at the moment has the odd moment where my bp will rise with her. But alot better than she was

Good luck to everyone weighing in the morning

Chattycatty · 03/05/2021 00:02

Hi everyone just started low carb this week not sure why I stop because it really works. anyway a quick question does anyone use the bread rolls from seriously low carb bread rolls. Thanks all.

ditavonteesed · 03/05/2021 04:27

@Chattycatty people really raves about them last boot camp. I've just oreeed some and a loaf and some hot cross buns but not had them before.

nowlook · 03/05/2021 06:18

Morning campers!

@ilovecherries I used to check how you were doing on the spreadsheet even when I wasn't bootcamping Grin That's one small step away from rooting through your bins and nicking your pants off the washing line, isn't it? Blush You're amazing and will soon get back on track I don't doubt.

Random789 · 03/05/2021 06:44

Onceuponamidnightbeery, ostrich is an odd one and makes an interesting change. It's a red meat, much more like steak than it is like chicken. It is very lean (so not bootcamp-optimised) and has a slightly sweet taste. In fact, I don't like the sweetness of it very much, but I enjoy its tenderness.

I cook it as the packet suggests -- flash fried in a little oil. I suspect it might not be all that useful for other types of cooking.

I woke up feeling stiff from running so I have just been doing some foam rolling. It felt really good, like it was breaking down knotty structures. They do say you should drink a lot after massage, to flush out the waste. I wonder if that advice is a bit Hmm Hmm, but I will do it anyway.
(Hopefully the knotty structures were quite heavy so breaking them down and flushing them out will help with today's weigh-in at the gym. WinkGrin)

Rayna37 · 03/05/2021 06:58

Morning! Just caught up with yesterday after a fun busy day and a disappointing weigh in this morning. Welcome back Cherries!

Yesterday I had a nice bike ride (14 miles) and a good walk around town.

B: "porridge" 1tbsp each of ground almonds, dessicated coconut, ground flaxseed (2 types), chia seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, milk and water, frozen raspberries. Great but a bit extravagant, not the lowest carb start to the day!
L: out in town, nice bunless chicken burger- breast, bacon, avocado, lettuce, some bang bang cauliflower and picky bits like sticky sausages, mini burgers. Too much, had a few chips, sauces all had some sugar I expect. Not bad but too much and not strict enough.
D: just a few olives, bit of cheese, bit of yogurt.

It's eye opening that after a year of lockdown my normal average weight has crept up by maybe half a stone so after 3 weeks of (admittedly not perfect) bootcamp it's not moving very fast at all, just bobbing up and down. I've spent too long at the higher weight, consistently averaging the sort of weights I used to just hit after an excessive few weeks, or post holiday etc.

DH away this week so should be easy to cook simple ubercamp style foods and be really strict. Weirdly excited, daft things like just getting everywhere really clean and tidy, change the bed once he's gone to enjoy that to myself Grin and lots of reading.

ouchmyfeet · 03/05/2021 07:02

@Rayna37 your week sounds amazing. After a year in each other's pockets and both working from home 100% of the time, I would give anything for my DH to go somewhere for a week! Grin

Rayna37 · 03/05/2021 07:10

Ouch that's exactly it! Normally I would be away with work one night every 3 weeks or so, or one or the other of us would have a night or two with friends. I'm out at work but no travel, and DH is now near permanently WFH (special projects aside) so just the idea of cleaning up and coming home to how I left it is a sheer joy! He always does the kitchen and pots etc, not to my standard but not badly enough for me to be a martyr and just do it myself; my jobs are shopping and laundry. We have cleaner, she comes tomorrow so it will all stay CLEAN AND TIDY Smile

Rayna37 · 03/05/2021 07:13

Oh and I cook. Despite essentially looking after myself the whole of my 20s I'm now outraged when I have to both cook AND clean it up!

MrsBertBibby · 03/05/2021 07:16

Morning all and hello to newbies and returners.

Cherries lovely to see you, and so sorry you've been through it.

Athelstan I'm so sorry your cat's not responding more.

Lisa and Colouring and everyone carrying so much, big hugs.

I am hiding in bed coz I am nervous the scales will be mean. What a silly.

Bestbees · 03/05/2021 07:32

@AthelstaneTheUnready Flowers for you and athelcat and your mum. But we'll done with sticking to the woe. Inspiring.

@ListenLinda your poor and and ring. Hope it's better today.

@colouringindoors the more I hear of your story the more respect and good wishes I send you way. Flowers

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch my husband had hodgkins lymphoma. I don't know much about chronic lymphoma but still sending good wishes to you.

@ilovecherrieslooking forward to hearing more from you as you seem to be an inspiration for lots

I need a line, and a stick from @BIWI as I got ABSOLUTELY shitfaced yesterday. Was good with food. Until midnight when I ate a hot cross bun. Shock
Scales actually see me down a bit, but imagine that this week will be bumpy. I had an epic time though. Beach walking, wine with family then on to an evening with friends. Have attached pic of the beach

Plan for today
So much water and many cups of tea.
B omelette with cheese
L fried courgette and fish of some kind
D beef, fried mushrooms and veg.
MIM - bootcamp. Which will probably kill me!

Week 3 - Leaving Lockdown Bootcamp
Makegoodchoices · 03/05/2021 07:41

1lb up despite being ridiculously good over the weekend. Just about to go for a run in the rain.

Wk 5 had better hurry up as the 3-4 doldrums are already winding me up!!

Moonswimmer · 03/05/2021 07:42

3.9lbs off this week. Better than expected considering the aforementioned poo situation.

Timetobuckup · 03/05/2021 07:42

Good morning all

Weigh in day and 4 pounds off so that is over 11 pounds in 3 weeks which I am pleased about.

I do still have a long way to go but with this WOE I can actually see it happening.

Thank you @BIWI and all the others who give such great support.

@Rayna37 A week in a clean and tidy house sounds bliss.

@Bestbees I hope the hangover isn't too brutal

good luck with the scales @MrsBertBibby and all .
