Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - week 6

BIWI · 29/06/2020 07:14

Morning all

So here we are in the new, unexpected second half of Bootcamp!

Spreadsheet is here

Hopefully everyone should be in the swing of things now, and also hopefully we've left the doldrums of weeks 3 & 4 behind us, so should be seeing steady losses.

If things aren't going the right way for you, have a good, hard look at what you've been eating and drinking. Make sure you haven't allowed carb creep - and also that you're following the rules!

If you've moved on to Bootcamp Light, make sure that you're keeping an eye on the amount of fruit or nuts/seeds and alcohol that you're allowing. Remember - always in moderation!

Here's to a good week for us all Flowers

Hi everyone. Lovely surprise This morning, wasn't expecting a loss as I have been static for a week or so but 3.5lb off!

Laska2Meryls · 29/06/2020 07:27

Morning , Thanks BIWi
Well I was really hoping to celebrate getting into the next stone down , as I saw it briefly on Saturday, bur sadly no the scales are being stubborn this morning at half a pound over despite a super strict day yesterday.. Hmm.

But am thrilled with another 3lbs off this week making 12.5 now 😄
Onwards!! ⚔️

Burnshersmurfs · 29/06/2020 08:48

Whooshed into the 140s just in time to log it. Anything under 147, and I begin to feel like my outside matches how I see myself in my head (if that makes sense) so am nearly back to prelockdown clothes and general ok-ness. I plan to keep going until I get into the 130s- which is pretty lean for me, and then wrestle with maintenance until I've cracked it. I'm really enjoying this bootcamp, so another massive thanks to all you wise and wonderful women.

MrsKoala · 29/06/2020 08:58

So sorry about your uncle wildteaparty - that must be a horrible shock for you and your family. Flowers

Stayed the same this week as last week (with a weird 2lb gain and loss in the middle). Really happy with that.

csa26 · 29/06/2020 09:05

Hello everyone!

I started out week 1 with great intentions, but was doing IVF somewhere around week 2 I think (seems a long time ago now). Anyway my body responded a bit too overenthusiastically to the IVF meds so I couldn't do an embryo transfer at the same time because the clinic was worried about ovarian hyperstimulation, I was pretty upset about that and fell off the carb bandwagon for a bit.

Then after they got 8 eggs out of me and fertilised 7, none of them made it to 5-day blastocyst stage, so I was hitting the comfort food again for a bit. One has been frozen at 3 days, but the chances of it resulting in a pregnancy are pretty small.

So it's been a rough month or so but I'm back in the game and back under the weight I was last time I updated the spreadsheet (if I'd been updating every week you would see a lot of ups and downs - I put on weight while having the meds but it did come off again afterwards).

I'm also, apart from the IVF period, feeling like I am actually in control of my weight - possibly for the first time in my life!

Wormthatturned · 29/06/2020 09:10

Hello everyone. Don't know what it was about Fitbit last week but maybe user error so I'm back to ignoring all checking and it seems to be working ok.
Another 1lb down today 👍🏻 and back to my weight of June 2017 😀 - shame my age and social life can't rewind a bit too!

prettybird · 29/06/2020 09:39

Probably won't be weighing today as it's dh's birthday which means that I'm not doing my exercises and run which I do before my weekly weigh in.

Good successes so far Smile

Freetodowhatiwant · 29/06/2020 09:50

Morning all, 1.2lbs off for me this week which I am pretty pleased with. That makes 9.1lbs all together which is great going.

I have a new mini goal - as I am leaving, hopefully, to Spain next Wednesday for the whole summer I would love it if I could see 61 something kilos on the scales instead of 62 something. I am currently 62.7 so I guess just keeping it under 63 would also be an achievement.

Sorry to hear of your IVF stresses CSA. It's hard having to take all those meds too and they can have annoying side effects. I haven't had IVF but I did have 5 miscarriages and had to take a lot of steroids that made me really gain weight.

And really sorry about your uncle too Wild

And your Dad's experience in hospital BIWI. What a nightmare. It's shocking the food issue in hospital - a place where you are meant to get better and then don't even think about nourishment in that way.

I am going to have a tough week, this is the last week of DH and I living together and as a family after 20 years together. It's my decision to separate but it is still really sad. I am packing up belongings and DH and I are both really miserable. I still can't quite believe it. I made the decision in early Jan but having been locked down together it's a prolonged experience.

Freetodowhatiwant · 29/06/2020 09:51

Note: I didn't mean a tough week in terms of WOE. I think hopefully I have that under control at least!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 29/06/2020 10:00

Also recording a total ĺoss of 12.5lb. Nearly at pre DC2 weight. Need to get to pre DC1 next then pre wedding weight Grin

Seeing the difference now especially in neck ad shoulder areas. Size 14 too big for me now but my size 12s in the same brand are too tight!!

Linnet · 29/06/2020 10:21

Hi all, I’ve gained 1lb but that’s ok as I’ve had a very bad weekend of eating pizza, chips from the chippy, drinking wine and today it’s my husbands birthday so there will be takeaway and cake.

I’m going to start back properly tomorrow I know that I can do this when I put my mind to it and I’m hoping once I start again I’ll lose some more weight. I’m possibly going back to work in a fortnight, not sure what the working day will look like as I don’t think we’ll be able to operate as we did originally so I’m not sure how I’ll get on with lunches etc but we’ll see what happens.

Sorry to hear about your uncle Wild.

OneFootintheRave · 29/06/2020 10:28

Checking in, 1.5 llb down so really happy. There were a few small cheats over an extended weekend (a few Campari sodas, a small handful of delicious chips, a few cherries) for me so this week will be no alcohol at all. KOKO everyone!

CalendulaAndRoses · 29/06/2020 10:28

morning all and thanks for the new thread @BIWI - totally agree re hospital food - never ceases to amaze me that they are supposed to be a place for people to "get well" while the food in most would suggest the aim is the exact opposite

sorry to hear about your uncle @wild Flowers

Flowers to you too @Freetodowhatiwant - that sounds like a tough decision and tough week following through on it. Hopefully after this you will feel a new lightness, not just on the scales! Best of luck

You are I are almost matching in the weightloss, I'm down 9lbs from starting weight too. It feels very good.

So yes, happy to record another 1lb off last week. Now at 141lbs so tantalising close to breaking into the 9 stone zone which will be amazing. I think I need to up my water again, have become a bit slack and not measuring it anymore, getting back on track this week to see if it makes a difference to the rate of loss. But TBH as a 51 yo hitting menopause I am just gleeful that the weight is shifting at all (as it has become so difficult over the last few years)!!

Oooh, another NSV - my alcohol consumption has hit the floor. DP opened a bottle of red last night and I barely glanced at it. This is momentous as he rarely drinks so it is usually me twisting his arm to booze alongside me and then me polishing off the bottle after he has had his sensible glass and a small top up. I was ridiculously proud of myself. I had one small glass of white over the entire week. I did enjoy it but had a slight headache next day and thought to myself maybe it wasn't worth it. The other nice side effect of this is I was in the supermarket and rather than buying 3 10 euro bottles of red for the week I bought only one bottle and paid nearly double that for it. Net result I get to drink what will hopefully be a really nice red when I do decide to have a glass AND I actually saved money on the normal bill Grin

Wishing everyone the very best of luck this week with both scales and NS victories

Rshard · 29/06/2020 10:31

Thanks for the new week’s thread BIWI

Sorry to hear about your uncle wild

Flowers for you freetodowhatiwant, a week of very conflicting emotions ahead I’m sure. Don’t forget to check in with us, we’re all here to support each other.

Some great losses! Another 1lb for me which is 10 in total, which I’m so happy with. A full stone is in sight, which my next mini goal. The next mini goal will then be a quick 2lb hop into the 10’s

Wishing everyone a great week!

NigellaAwesome · 29/06/2020 11:29

Morning!

After my angst last week, scales have moved again, and I am down to 88kg (194 lbs) which I think is 16 pounds off so far. Smile

Am in work, so can't read the thread, but I hope everyone is having a good Monday.

Eggbound · 29/06/2020 11:33

Thanks for your advice/big stick late last week, @BIWI.

Sorry about your uncle, @Wild. Flowers

@csa26, what a tough time you've had. Hope you have some good IVF news soon.

Well, this week I'm only down 0.8lb. However, it's still a drop. And, significantly, I'm due on any day and I'm going into my week 3 (plateau time?). And I stuffed myself with roast (albeit the right things) last night. So I'll take a 0.8lb loss - pretty good in the circumstances!

KOKO ...

LostaraYil · 29/06/2020 11:53

A tiny gain for me this week, but I'm putting it down to the post ovulation boob boost, so I can live with it. I have been eating a few nuts here and there so I might try cutting them out for the week to see if it makes a difference. Well done for all the losses!

Notwatchingtvtoday · 29/06/2020 12:06

Sorry to all those having a tough time.

I’ve not had a good 2 weeks, so am now back on it properly.

B Greek yogurt and coffee
L eggs
D chicken casserole

MrsKoala · 29/06/2020 12:22

@Freetodowhatiwant that sounds so hard. I hate that accepting it’s over sadness. I remember leaving my exH I knew it was the right thing but my heart was broken anyway (and still is really). I wish I had been kinder to myself and given myself more time, instead I just drank and drank and ignored it for 2 years trying not to confront the pain. It comes out eventually tho. So I hope you are able to rest, reflect and feel sad at your own pace. It is a healing process which can’t be rushed. Flowers

Pre lockdown H and I were in a strange limbo of not bad enough to go and not good enough to stay. It then got really bad Jan - Mar and we decided to separate 1 week before lockdown. I had started to detach and mentally move on. Then 1st 4 weeks of lockdown was utterly hellish. But things started to change and it’s now got much better. I’m not sure if deciding to divorce gave us a sort of closure to the past shit and lockdown forced us to be kinder and see it as a new start. We are finding co parenting and having no expectations means we are out of the destructive cycle we were in. Maybe we’ve consciously uncoupled Grin I don’t know. But I wake up happy and not angry for the first time in 2 years, so that’s got to be better.

SparklesAllOver · 29/06/2020 13:52

Hi all, 1.4lbs down, really pleased and will be KOKOing. Aside from a few wines and some berries I have been sticking to lots of fresh salads for lunch and a decent evening meal of crustless quiche/meatza/stir fry/curry/chilli, etc, all made from scratch. Discovering celeriac was a revelation, delicious and filling. Good to hear of all the lb losses, well done all.

MrsTerryPratchett · 29/06/2020 13:54

Small gain for me. Too many nuts!

KOKO.

SparklesAllOver · 29/06/2020 13:55

Flowers for wild and freetodowhatiwant

Sauvignonismysaviour · 29/06/2020 14:07

Thanks for the new thread. BIWI, you're going to need your big stick, for I have been BAD. So bad. So carby. Have gained 2lbs back and feeling very repentant and flabby. Back on the straight and narrow today; couple of sausages for lunch and pork with roasted courgette & aubergine for dinner.

greengoose21b · 29/06/2020 14:25

Week Six and I'm still in the doldrums. Overall brilliant...I've shifted my "lockdown ten", but I've not made any more losses for weeks.

I'm a massive believer in this way of eating. It changed my life a couple of years ago, but I'm really struggling with it this time as I've gone veggie.

I'm eating too much cheese, too much cream, too many berries....and I can quite confidently say I won't be able to sustain the woe if I tried to cut those things down.

I'm also very sedentary at the moment spending 10 hours a day at my desk, so maybe I should think about how much I'd be packing on if I weren't eating like this.

Proper respect to all those of you who are keeping going while dealing with real challenges.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 29/06/2020 14:40

Sorry for people who are having a tough time. I'm especially impressed at you sticking to the good food habits when life's hard. It's a strong decision. But do take care of yourselves and indulge in other ways. Thanks

I got fat because I had a tough patch a couple of years ago and just thought 'fuck it, life's shit I should be kind to myself where I can be.' I slowly put on 16lbs which I really wish I hadn't.

Anyway, lost that this year and now trying to get slim (vs just not fat).
Today's weigh in is disappointing, I've stuck to today's number in the spreadsheet so looks static but over the week I was 2lbs down so I'm holding onto that.

To the discussion on the last thread about shape changes with age I really notice this! Being a weirdo I have still got the scrap of paper I recorded my last big weight loss drive on (2004/5). Based on that, last time I was this weight I was 2 inches smaller in both my waist and hips. That'll be the difference between 28 and 44 then. Sigh.
