Low Carb Bootcamp Léger! Notre quatre semaine est ici!

BIWI · 15/06/2020 07:33

It's Monday! So soon! Wink

Morning all.

Ici, c'est le début de notre quatre semaine du Bootcamp. C'est léger est pas ordinaire.

... which means we can relax things slightly.

Some fruit is allowed in moderation - mainly berries. Nuts and seeds in moderation, and alcohol very much in moderation.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you need to, check the rules for Bootcamp Light on the tabs there.

If you're happy on 'ordinary' Bootcamp, then by all means continue. If you were finding intermittent fasting was helping you, then you could also consider trying to extend the length of time you've been fasting - so if you were managing 12:12, try working up to 16:8. If you were managing 16:8, see how much long you can extend that for. Just don't let it go so long that you get too hungry and are tempted to cheat.

Alternatively, you could do a hybrid, so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

We only have two weeks left of this Bootcamp, so let's get/keep focused, and see what we can do!

Monday already - how did that happen? Wink

0.2lb on, which I'm not surprised about as the scales have been bobbing around the same weight all week. Will put it down to the three week blip and keep the faith, hopping for a whoosh sometime soon.

Am going to stick with BC ordinaire for the most part this week, but will have a light day on Saturday as it's my birthday. Am going to make a flourless choc cake from Doet a doctor to have with cream and berries and there will be wine.

Bonjour tous le monde!

OneFootintheRave · 15/06/2020 07:49

Checking in. Thanks @Biwi.

Laska2Meryls · 15/06/2020 07:50

Bonjour! Bonne matin ! Glad to have a bit of Franglais in my life.. ( well Franglais is all I can manage!)
Just a pound down for me although ive been on side all last week except for a teaspoon of mango chutney last Friday..
Hoping for a whoosh this week..
I am continuing 16:8 but maybe will have some strawberries. Ian definitely looking slimmer though, the tummy has gone down ..
Been so longing for some sea salt and lime dark chocolate though... Nearly gave into a square last night.. I could have but chose not to.!! . Halo

PseudoBadger · 15/06/2020 07:51

1lb off this week which I am fine with. I must confess to a planned off-piste afternoon yesterday which saw me drink too much wine (rose) and eat some definitely banned and carby food. However it was worth it and I'm back to normal today. Happy to take the big stick though @BIWI

BIWI · 15/06/2020 08:00

Here's a really interesting video by Dr Eric Berg about appetite and insulin resistance.

He's an advocate of the keto diet, which is strict low carb (20-50g carbs per day, preferably at the lower end), but it's a really interesting video that talks about how to get into fat-burning mode - and that it can be initially at the expense of losing weight.

I know that this Bootcamp specifically we're really focused on weight loss, but it brings to the fore all the issues about this WOE being for better health, ultimately.

It's also probably a very timely reminder as to why the occasional cheat here and there is going to compromise our results!

(That last sentence not aimed at any one poster in particular, I promise!)

Guten Morgen!

No change for me, other than regaining a few lbs during the week and losing them again in time for today.

Have lost that additional inch off my waist this week though, so still getting smaller despite the scales.

I'm sticking with serious-face bootcamp, as I've another stone to go. But like @Puppermint will be taking a day of bootcamp light on Thursday as that's my birthday. June babies are the best Wink

bibliomania · 15/06/2020 08:16

Back up a couple of llbs, though I've been sticking to it (admittly I started book camp light on Saturday). Glad I was warned in advance about week 3 slow down so I'm not disheartened.

NigellaAwesome · 15/06/2020 08:17

Morning! 2 pounds off for me, but I think a —well overdue— trip to the loo would shift a bit more.

@Gruntly123 I see we are still keeping pace with one another - well done!

Ragwort · 15/06/2020 08:29

Good morning all.

I am back to work today, had to set the alarm for the first time in nearly three months Grin.

No cooking or fridge facilities at work so have packed a cool bag with cooked sausages, hard boiled eggs, green salad, pot of mayo and cheesies. Our local deli is also opening this week and they do a wonderful selection of salads so may treat myself on Friday.

MrsKoala · 15/06/2020 08:32

Morning all. I am down 2lb which I’m really pleased with. That puts me at an 8lb loss at 12st exactly, which was my target weight for this BC. I will try to see if I can get in the 11s, but if I do it’s always very fleeting. My perfect weight is 11st 10lb but that last 4lb never stays off. But I’m not going to stress about it. I’m happy here. :)

Freetodowhatiwant · 15/06/2020 08:38

I appear to be 1lb up but during mid week I was a whole KILO lighter than today so who knows. I am going to stick with today's weight rather than go with the lower mid-week weight which I think has been mentioned as an option. I have been doing 16:8 as well as LCHF so that's a little bit frustrating but I know it's all going in the right direction eventually so will KOKO.

Jofish26 · 15/06/2020 08:39

Morning! So glad we were warned about week 3 as have put on 2lb! So feeling a bit disheartened but ready to dig deep and going to stick with Bootcamp Ordinaire and believe in the process.

BrassicaBabe · 15/06/2020 08:42

Hmm. I appear to be STS as week 1 day 1. Not too down about it. Previous BC I was stuck 5lb higher. I does mean my weekly loss since January has been 0.23lb a week! Shock I think my body is trying to tell me something!

ShagMeRiggins · 15/06/2020 08:42

French! How delightful!

Today is all about the WAYER for me. I have been woefully hit or miss, and that simply won’t do.

Oh, and I looked up CANTELOUPE which seems to have the same 8g per 10g as strawberries, but I suppose the difference might be quantity eaten? I highly doubt this I the way—a small bowl of strawberries would seem very similar to a slice of melon...

I don’t really eat fruit. Posting for a friend.

Rshard · 15/06/2020 08:45

Morning, thanks BIWI for the new thread.

Another 1lb down here so 8 in total which I’m really happy with. Also got into fresh from the wash jeans this morning with minimal wriggling, so that’s good too.

Think I’m going to stick with bootcamp ordinaire in the week and possibly lite at the weekend, maybe for the berries.

ShagMeRiggins · 15/06/2020 08:47

I’m happy here. such a great sentence to read on Bootcamp.

I think my body is trying to tell me something! very interesting observation—what might it be trying to say?

ExShield · 15/06/2020 08:57

I have discovered that I am highly sensitive to almond flour.Sad I had some last night as the base of a kind of cheesecake, (actually just almond flour, bit of sweetener (sorry!) and Greek yoghurt and immediately my lips tingled. Then I was up in the night with dreadful gut ache and the runs. At one point I was dreaming I had swallowed glass, such was the pain.

So that’s soya, chickpea derivatives and now almonds that I can’t have. Maybe it’s a pulse thing?

Overall I’m 5lb down, which I didn’t think was much, but then I’ve just carried the same weight up two flights of stairs and I could feel it!

Sauvignonismysaviour · 15/06/2020 08:59

Bonjour tout le monde!

Scales wise I've stayed the same. I've only got about 4lbs left to lose and it's always those last ones that take a while. Especially as I'm so constipated I'm starting to wonder whether I have bottom problems.

I've just been catching up on the weekend chat on the last thread and want to thank everyone for their candour around alcohol consumption. I've certainly got my own issues with this which I'm trying to address and it's not easy. Maybe I just shouldn't buy it?! I mean, in normal circumstances I don't fill my cupboards with chocolate so if wine is a reach to for me (which it is), maybe I shouldn't buy it. Why does that scare me though...

Meal plan today is ham salad for lunch and BBQ veg/halloumi skewers for dinner. Snack of greek yoghurt if needed (feels like it might be, I'm peckish already).

Hope the scales are kind to everyone & it's a good week! Thanks for all the support Star

BlusteryShowers · 15/06/2020 09:17

1lb off for me taking me to 13st 2, though I am a daily weight and I know I was down to 13st 0 on Friday. Ended up having too much to drink on Friday night and had my first hangover in well over a year on Saturday so serves me right!

Would love to be in the 12s for next week. Feeling positive that it is working for me, and I'm proud of myself for getting right back on the wagon after the hangover had passed.

Made cauliflower mash with salmon last night for me and my son. Made it with double cream and cheddar and he really enjoyed it. I've never got on with it before but it was nice yesterday. Wanted a celeriac too but Aldi didn't have any. Or courgettes. Sad

Randomfatty · 15/06/2020 09:20

Morning all - the scales have moved a minuscule fraction but I’ve also started af so am normally heavier so will reweigh myself after it’s over. Although I’m feeling very grotty - have others had more cramps and aches on this woe during af? Also could be due to a heavy weights session yesterday so could be a combination of both things. Just not my normal chirpy self 😓😢 glad to see everyone’s losses are continuing even if slower!

Lunch today will be an omelette and salad
Snack some raspberries and blackberries with a dash of cream (can’t wait) 😋😋
Dinner sausages and cauliflower mash’s with flgv

Freetodowhatiwant · 15/06/2020 09:26

Thanks for checking the Canteloupe @ShagMeRiggins. It was me who had bought one. I'm afraid of touching it now so I might just give it to the kids Grin

Would anyone recommend a number of strawberries that is a good small portion? Not weighing just a rough count. Just so I know I am not overdoing it. I don't even have any in the house but it might be nice to get some as a treat.

I was thinking how well I am doing with this morning's fast not even feeling hungry but then it's only 9.30am so there's plenty of time to feel hungry before I break my fast at midday. I think I am doing slightly more than 16-8. Maybe 17-7. Not that it seems to have made a difference this week though!

BlusteryShowers · 15/06/2020 09:29

How often do people take measurements? I did my "baseline" ones last week and haven't seen a change this week. Was wondering if once a month might be better?

Ifeelfat · 15/06/2020 09:33

shagme you have teenagers awake at that hour? I raise my cup of green tea to you!

Hopeislost · 15/06/2020 09:37

Half a pound on for me. It's still disheartening as I have a lot to lose.

I like the idea of doing light at the weekend as I can't be trusted around nuts!

But even without the weight loss, I feel better than I have in ages. I'm quite badly insulin resistant and I've really appreciated being on an even keel rather than lurching between highs and lows all the time.
