It's Monday! So soon! Wink

Morning all.

Ici, c'est le début de notre quatre semaine du Bootcamp. C'est léger est pas ordinaire.

... which means we can relax things slightly.

Some fruit is allowed in moderation - mainly berries. Nuts and seeds in moderation, and alcohol very much in moderation.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you need to, check the rules for Bootcamp Light on the tabs there.

If you're happy on 'ordinary' Bootcamp, then by all means continue. If you were finding intermittent fasting was helping you, then you could also consider trying to extend the length of time you've been fasting - so if you were managing 12:12, try working up to 16:8. If you were managing 16:8, see how much long you can extend that for. Just don't let it go so long that you get too hungry and are tempted to cheat.

Alternatively, you could do a hybrid, so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

We only have two weeks left of this Bootcamp, so let's get/keep focused, and see what we can do!

markruffalo I did the unthinkable in Tesco and rummaged through the whole box of cauliflowers to find one that was worth the 89p they were charging. Many were really not much bigger than a brussel sprout! Must be the dry spring.

Ha ha Venus I would normally do that too. I’ve been doing click and collect as I have no patience going into store at the moment and being herded around the one way system! Glad it wasn’t just mine that were ridiculously small though - I had a little moan and got a refund on them Blush

Thank you for the links to the videos @BIWI they are very interesting. I have been mulling over my disastrous attempts to loose weight after having the kids. Each year or so I go in the same cycle - usually getting down to around 225 - so still really heavy - but better - then I get stuck go on holiday or something stressful happens or such like and I never get back on the diet. By the time next spring comes around, I'm back on it and the cycle repeats itself ( now 12 years :( . It is so frustrating, over time I've stopped smoking pre-kids, drinking (Flowers to all those battling with this) but can't eat right to get the weight off and keep it off. I'm sat here trying to formulate my battle plan as I know what's coming. I really want to have a plan to get through the hurdles before I reach them this time to see if I can get through this in the long term. It does seem to be harder this time than the last - the weight loss is slower and I'm older! Menopause knocking at the door and I'm told it will be harder once this hits. If anyone has experience of longterm weight loss or video links It would be much appreciated. Good luck for the scales tomorrow everyone Flowers

Bastarding Lidl Angry

They changed their supplier of Greek yoghurt (I'd noticed the packaging was different because the old packaging had a handle and was great for re using ): I've just tasted it and while it might claim to be thick and creamy, it isn't Angry - and what's worse, on checking the label, they've increased the carb count by nearly 50% to 4.6g/100g from 3.2g/100g AngryAngry and reduced the protein SadAngry

Glad that Tesco refunded on that miserable cauliflower markruffalo!

I happily go with out breakfast while doing IF ragwort. I tend to have lunch at 12/12:30 and then dinner 6:00/7:00. I actually didn’t have lunch until 2 today following dinner at 7:00 last night and was fine. WFH at the moment but have done it whilst in the office so not too worried.

That’s really disappointing prettybird, might it be a temporary change related to the pandemic?

greengoose21b · 21/06/2020 15:21

@prettybird good spot. I noticed the tubs had changed but didn't think to look at the ingredients again.

I've not forgiven Lidl for discontinuing their low carb protein rolls a couple of years ago. Those things were the greatest...for diabetics and low carbers...and one day they were gone.

prettybird · 21/06/2020 15:26

Neither I have forgiven them for that Angry: I didn't have the rolls often, but they were a nice treat when I did Sad And dh liked them too.

And Total 5% is twice the price 🙁 Anyone recommend another version to swop to?

(popping in out of lurkdom to comment 🙂)

BrassicaBabe · 21/06/2020 15:58

daisy Don't buy yoghurt very often but when I do I buy Fage, the Greek stuff. It's very nice.

prettybird · 21/06/2020 16:32

I'll look out for the Fage Smile. I'll also see if Lidl still does the wee Greek yoghurts and whether they're still the "old" formulation. Unfortunately Lidl was out of stock of cream when when I was last in, so I can't even add that to counter the tartness of the tub of new, bad Greek yoghurt that I have Sad

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 21/06/2020 16:43

I bought Tesco finest Greek yoghurt, which is 3.8g per 100, so not quite as low as Fage but better than their regular Greek style one which is 5.5g. However, in the grand scheme of things, they’re all pretty good aren’t they? 1g here or there, given that you won’t be eating much more than 100g in a go, won’t make a huge difference.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 21/06/2020 16:43

Oh and it’s very nice! Super thick and creamy

Yes this is the one I'm now buying (our Lidl shut for 6 mths for a refit I'm only now just discovering the change in ingredients) but at twice the price, I baulk at buying it! 🙁 I do like a small pot of yoghurt for breakfast!
venusandmars · 21/06/2020 17:04

And the Tesco Finest Greek one is 9.8% fat

venusandmars · 21/06/2020 17:06

Or maybe 10.2g /100g now that I've checked.

Freetodowhatiwant · 21/06/2020 17:06

I’ve got a new Turkish supermarket a couple of mins walk away and they have about 30 different types of plain, thick yoghurt! I’m working my way through them. I use yoghurt as a condiment.

greengoose21b · 21/06/2020 17:45

Here's the other Lidl yoghurt....in the shorter fatter tub

Just made the celeriac and leek mash posted down thread and it is amazing. Adding leeks is a complete game changer!

The problem here is that Fage (Total) have stopped selling their 10% fat version.

Sainsbury's, Waitrose and M&S all have their own version of Greek yoghurt (not Greek-style), which is 10% fat. (Not sure about Tesco as I don't shop there - but they may well too).

I know! It makes it much more like mash made with potato, for some reason.

Morrisons is 4g carbs /100g but not as nice as Fage or Lidl original GY.

BIWI would making yoghurt from whole milk and then draining the whey off be ok? I'm not sure how to work out what the carb count would be!

BIWI · 21/06/2020 21:26

Sorry @daisychicken - I really wouldn't know!

OP posts:
daisychicken · 21/06/2020 22:03

Bit of research.. various websites reckon that if you make yoghurt then strain the whey off (which is the bit highest in carbs) then you can at a minimum, half the carb count of the milk used. E.G. Morrisons longlife milk is 4.6g/100ml so the resulting strained yoghurt would be no more than 2.3g/100ml or per 100g

Reading through the science, it seems correct but I can't vouch for how accurate the figures are! So don't go down this route if you are strict low carb!

LostaraYil · 21/06/2020 22:15

Oh no, my Lidl still had the good yoghurt, I will see what's happened when I make it to the shop again. Had 2 small glasses of wine this evening (it was only meant to be one) and it was so good!
B - baked lemon cheesecake
L- a few salami slices, a bit of cheese, gherkins, olives
D- roast beef, celeriac chips, kale
2 glasses wine
I hope I haven't messed up too badly for the weigh in tomorrow, we'll see!

prettybird · 21/06/2020 22:21

As far as I know, Greek yoghurt is by definition a "strained" yoghurt - hence it being (relatively) higher in protein, creamier and firmer in consistency indeed whether the "new" formulation "Greek" yoghurts are cutting corners Hmm

Anywhoo, we had my made-up dessert of blitzed frozen summer fruits, a tub of mascarpone and a couple of spoonfuls of "Greek" yoghurt because my cream had gone off Smile It was lovely! Grin Made it mid afternoon and then left it in the freezer. Needed to be left on the counter for about 15 minutes or so, so that it softened up.
