Low Carb Bootcamp Léger! Notre quatre semaine est ici!

BIWI · 15/06/2020 07:33

It's Monday! So soon! Wink

Morning all.

Ici, c'est le début de notre quatre semaine du Bootcamp. C'est léger est pas ordinaire.

... which means we can relax things slightly.

Some fruit is allowed in moderation - mainly berries. Nuts and seeds in moderation, and alcohol very much in moderation.

Here is the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness if you need to, check the rules for Bootcamp Light on the tabs there.

If you're happy on 'ordinary' Bootcamp, then by all means continue. If you were finding intermittent fasting was helping you, then you could also consider trying to extend the length of time you've been fasting - so if you were managing 12:12, try working up to 16:8. If you were managing 16:8, see how much long you can extend that for. Just don't let it go so long that you get too hungry and are tempted to cheat.

Alternatively, you could do a hybrid, so strict Bootcamp during the week and Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

We only have two weeks left of this Bootcamp, so let's get/keep focused, and see what we can do!

Sorry for the number/length of posts - I worked all of yesterday and didn't have the chance to update.

But it seems like a lot of good progress is being made, and some lovely meals being eaten!

Feeling slimmer today, like my stomach overhang nice has shrunk. Scales show a bootcamp low and 1.5 lbs off since yesterday, which I'm pleased about. Only 4lbs to get into the 11s.

Was supposed to have salmon tonight but for some reason, I didn't add it to my delivery. I'll have to have a freezer raid and see what I can rustle up!

Interesting chat about boobs. I was always quite small in that dept until I got pregnant They never went back to normal like my weight and now they are huge and saggy. Although I'd love to lose weight from there, I'm worried about ending up with two flappy sacks. I suppose that's one of the trade offs that comes with being fat and I guess I'll learn to live with it if it comes to that.

devoncreamtea · 16/06/2020 07:33

I’m another one with boob related woes! It seems like there’s two camps with post pregnancy boobs - either they disappear forever or they stay at breastfeeding size!! Most of my friends irl have the former whereas I have the latter!! I really want to lose size there but like others am not keen on the empty bag look!
And I don’t want to always have to shop in the granny section or the insanely expensive section -nice bras are so much money when you have boobage!
Atm I am fixated on my tummy. Ive had 5 children (I know insane) and that area is distinctly stretched 😬
I have to keep reminding myself that I am getting thinner not going back in time 🤣

Puppermint · 16/06/2020 07:56

@devoncreamtea "I have to keep reminding myself that I am getting thinner not going back in time."

Love this!

NumbsMet · 16/06/2020 08:09

@Puppermint @devoncreamtea you really have no idea how relieved I am that it's not just me that's worried about things like this!! I thought I was either crazy or silly. I've always been fairly small in the chest department before having babies and it seems to annoy people when I suggest that I don't like them being bigger - I mean I get it, some people pay for enlargements, but I would pay double for a reduction (if I was Trump rich). I'm glad it finally clicked for me that I would rather have saggy boobs than be this big for the rest of my life. I've genuinely been wondering if I'll have to roll them up like fruit wind-ups 😂 that's generally what my imagination is like most of the time.

Thanks so much for the advice @BIWI and also for the encouragement for me and Mr Numbs! He keeps saying he doesn't feel like he's even dieting. If you ever write a weight loss book (which I very much think you should, you're brilliant), you can quote him on that! He seems to pinch himself every day that he is losing weight and still enjoying all of his meals. He's been actively trying different diets for months and this is the first time he's seen any real progress. Please don't stop what you're doing! That also includes @AthelstaneTheUnready - your organisational skills are second to none and that spreadsheet is a work of art.

Enough gushing now, back to being cynical and grumpy Angry

prettybird · 16/06/2020 08:16

Just to give a different perspective: I've always had good boobs Wink and they didn't change much after having ds, even though I fully breastfed for 13 months Smile

They have got bigger but I think that that is a combination of being (at the moment) 1.5-2 stone heavier than I was in my 30s and now being post menopausal Shock. I'm currently a 34E, whereas previously I was a 34C (although I think now knowing more about bra measuring, I was probably a 32D Wink)

I've mentioned before my "woes" of losing underbust measurements yet my overbust measurements staying the same, so progressively going up cup sizes Confused

My boobs still pass the pencil test though Grin

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/06/2020 08:17

I do like that this WOE makes so many people cheerful Grin

None of this miserable 'sins' talk. Just happy eating.

Puppermint · 16/06/2020 08:40

My boobs wouldn’t even pass the pencil case test Blush

Freetodowhatiwant · 16/06/2020 08:45

Morning all, I am loving the thought of us all us positioning our scales, jumping on jumping off, switching them on and off, making sure they're on the right tile, pointing South West, doing the best out of three...

I've weighed myself every day generally and the annoying thing is I was up 1lb on Monday (ie up 1lb for the weekly weigh in) but if I had used my weight from another other day I would have lost! I KNOW I could use my lowest weight of the week but I won't and will just KOKO.

My appetite is still really low. I AM eating but just don't really fancy food as much as I used to. Yesterday I had a small handful of cashews but that was the only break from BC Ordinaire as I don't have any berries in and haven't yet cracked open the not-so-low-carb cantaloupe melon.

Yesterday was:
Only one black coffee in fasting window
12pm Breaking the fast with a boiled egg and half an avocado and some mayo
3pm the other half of the avocado (with a blob of mayo) and a small handful of cashews
6pm ish tuna and cheese salad
Ginger teas

I DID have three teas with milk throughout the day and have been trying to stick to two.

Does this look okay? Not too little? Not too much...? I really have gone off food so am often just eating to sustain myself rather than something enjoyable. I see many of you saying how tasty things are and I just don't feel like that. This is probably because of my lame cooking.

Sauvignonismysaviour · 16/06/2020 08:55

@Freetodowhatiwant I feel your pain. My appetite is quite low at the moment too, yesterday I had
L - ham, celery & avocado with mayo
D - roasted aubergine, courgette & leek with tzatziki
A few teas with milk, 2 small squares of dark choc and yet today I've got up, weighed under "optimum" circumstances, and I have GAINED 2 LBS!!!

Feeling so frustrated and annoyed. But steering clear of the cupboards...

Thanks for takeaway recommendations. For those who also enjoy curry, the IdiotPoof Diet Butter Chicken recipe is really good!

Laska2Meryls · 16/06/2020 08:57

Well my little foray into berries didn't seem to do any harm.. I am down another half pound this morning .. yes I know that is within the normal fluctuation range and a glass of water will put that weight on again in volume.. ( and not counting it or any more until next week,) but just leapt on scales this morning to see if the berries had made a difference upwards..
I will have a few more after my eggs for breakfast..

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/06/2020 09:16

Planning on berries for my birthday.

A bit grumpy here, as 1lb up again today, despite 100% virtuosity.

The good news about that though, is that the fat around my hips feels really jiggly this morning. Previously this has meant a bit of a loss in the near future.

Opinions vary on the internet, but the prevailing theory is that - because we lose fat from inside fat cells but don't actually lose the cell itself, when you've burned off the fat the cell fills up with water in case you're going to refill it any time soon.

If you don't, it eventually realises the storage isn't needed and lets go of the water. In the meantime however, you remain the same weight so the extra jiggle is the only way to tell it's happening!

Sigh. This, of course, means if it doesn't happen before my birthday there may be no berries on the horizon after all, since I don't want to scupper it just when it seems about to drop.

Freetodowhatiwant · 16/06/2020 09:21

The jiggly thing is really interesting @Athelstane. I had no idea. My stomach rolls definitely feel a bit looser (nice...), wonder if that's it!

@Sauvignonismysaviour sounds a lot like me yes. It's annoying not fancying anything. I wish I was a better cook or would meal plan rather than just eat random low carb ingredients. Your aubergine thing sounds nice though.

Ninkanink · 16/06/2020 09:37

@Freetodowhatiwant it does happen to me too - I get days here and there where food doesn’t interest me at all. On those days I just don’t eat much.

Have you had a look at the bootcamp recipe threads? You will get lots of good ideas there for very tasty dishes. It doesn’t matter if you’re not a super confident cook - you can always ask for guidance here. Many of the recipes are very easy, quick and convenient.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 16/06/2020 10:11

Re Keto bread, is this recipe ok? I’ve made it on previous non-boot camp LC ventures.

It’s just almond flour, ground flaxseeds and egg, but it turns out pretty tasty - a bit like brown soda bread.

I don’t want to go back to relying on bread for every meal, but to go with some chicken soup for lunch that would be amazing! Slathered in butter and bovril.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 16/06/2020 10:12

Oops - would help if I posted it!

mums low carb bread

Rshard · 16/06/2020 10:15

Loving the jiggle explanation athlestane! Interesting discussion about boobs, mine have stayed mostly the same through losing and gaining weight. DD and I both rubbish at breastfeeding so no impact from that. I’m sure someone (mrskoala?) is planning some surgery.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 16/06/2020 10:16

Flaxseeds are 3G carb per 100 and almonds 7g so the whole loaf if you use 100g of each (recipe says a cup) is 10g. I make that about 1-1.5g per slice

Takingontheworld · 16/06/2020 11:36

I have flaxseed and almond flour... and coconut flour! But not sure what to do with them. 'Keto bread' sounds interesting. What would you eat with it?

I just caramelized disks of aubergine in oil and salt and topped with bolognese and cheese for lunch.

Enjoying a couple of berries with cream on a morning now. So indulgent.

This - exactly :)
Ninkanink · 16/06/2020 11:52

On boobs, I lost 3 stone some years ago. Since that time I’ve gained and lost somewhere between a stone and 1.5 stones a few times. My boobs are on the big side anyway and they never get properly small, but they’ve stayed quite full. They’re not as perky as they used to be but then I’m 44 and big boobs don’t usually sit like melons forever unless they have some help. They’re still beautiful, though.

BIWI · 16/06/2020 12:00

@Freetodowhatiwant

Just watch out for those cashews - they're really carby, at 18.1g carbs per 100g.

OP posts:
Eggbound · 16/06/2020 12:12

Thanks for the welcome @BIWI and for more info on appetite suppression and snacking not being an issue once fat-adapted. I'm about to watch the video. I've always been a grazer - to the point of being a bit panicky about going out without a snack. This is a new frontier!

There was talk up-thread of scales. With my old digital ones, I used to find - like you, @BIWI - that the first figure was high, then I'd hop off and move the scale slightly and I'd get a lower figure. The third would be the same as the second. So I'd always weigh three times too and take the lower figure. Previously I put the scales on the bathroom vinyl floor - I've since read that vinyl isn't firm enough.

For six months, we've had newer scales that do all the muscle and fat % fanciness ('RENPHO Bluetooth Body Fat Scale'). These are more consistent and one hop-on is fine. I also now put them on a firmer laminate floor. They're good scales - I'd recommend.

And @NumbsMet, regarding boobs, I wanted to add (in case it's encouraging) that I've always been small-boobed, to the extent of finding it hard to get a bra small enough, and not even bothering for much of my twenties. My boobs went up a fair few sizes with both pregnancies, and I breastfed my youngest for an eternity, so they stayed bigger for several years. They have now shrunk back down but, amazingly after the years of nursing, they are still somewhat pert. Grin I was really surprised at this as I too was fearing envelope flaps. So I just wanted to reassure you that after considerable and protracted stretching, a degree of pertness can return. Smile

(As for why years of breastfeeding didn't help me lose baby weight, it was probably the concurrent years of sleepless nights and stuffing my face to stay awake.)

Freetodowhatiwant · 16/06/2020 12:18

Yeah don’t worry about the cashews @BIWI I was at my parents and don’t have them in the house here.

After having no appetite at all I’ve just had a brilliant lunch. There’s a Turkish supermarket newly opened over the road and I was able to get aubergines roasted in oil, tzatziki and a crab cheese yoghurt thing the latter both have no sugar or anything added just the yoghurt and garlic and salt. Feels like I’m on holiday.

nowlook · 16/06/2020 12:25

God, @Freetodowhatiwant that sounds delicious.

Knocks (yet another) spinach, mushroom and cheese omelette into a cocked hat!

I need to get to the supermarket before I get into more of a rut.
