Temporarily delurking just to say YoLo, magnesium is a well known laxative plus if there is iron in the new multivitamin then that also is well known for gut side-effects. Probiotics can have side-effects too especially in high doses. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

Hello darlinks.

I wasn't hungry st all earlier do couldn't be arsed to cook tea. Then I got hungry so had to fry some bacon, eggs and tomato. And baby bells.
It was delicious.

purpleviolet1 · 05/10/2017 20:30

Thanks @ClearEyesFullHearts

Anyone know where we can buy Delous mayonnaise (spelt it wrong)? Apparently expensive but low carb?

Also total yogurt? I bought Yeo valley Greek yogurt today

I’ve been reading up on diet doctor and it seems a bit more relaxed low carb. I’ve been panicking this afternoon as I ordered a pair of scales which arrived and I’m 10st2lb and my body fat is 32%. Not a surprise really as I’ve been out of action for years with health issues. It seems so daunting though Sad I also don’t know if I’ll manage bootcamp and whether I should just try to gently change habits and get into the low carb way of eating for now. Please tell me I can get back to 8.5 stone with a healthy body fat Sad at 5ft 2.5inches this would be an ideal weight.

I’m trying to add in a daily walk and yesterday power walked (with the pram ) for 38 mins and today 30 mins. It’s a start right? I can’t afford to do too much as fatigue / overtiredness quickly leads to infections for me which have in the past turned to sepsis.

MOIST · 05/10/2017 20:31

In other news. I am back to work next week in a different role.

Have you any ideas of lunchbox stuff? Things I can eat on the go (literally, in my car!).

MOIST · 05/10/2017 20:35

Bella. I can't believe they didn't weigh your boob. That's just unreasonable.

Hope you are recovering gently.

ilovecherries · 05/10/2017 20:48

purpleviolet, it's entirely possible :). I've lost nearly 3 stone since the last bootcamp started on 22 May (which I'm seriously considering declaring my 'reborn' day as I've always hated my actual birthday as it's the anniversary of a major trauma in my life, and I spend most of THAT day crying and hissing at people). Anyway, for me, an easing in wouldn't have worked. I'd have had carb creep all over the place. I just decided that for once in my life I'd just do what I was told, and I've followed the plan to the letter from day 1. It works, but it's not 'forgiving' (at least in the early weeks) in the way calorie counting is, where you can have cheat meals then cut back. But the plus side - feel so much better, look great (if I say so myself!), loads of energy, IBS gone, weight coming off every week, loads of lovely food - never hungry anymore, no longer at the mercy of blood sugar swings. The downsides are not a single item of clothing fit me, including shoes, knickers, swimwear and bras, and eating out takes a bit of planning.

BIWI · 05/10/2017 20:54

The thing is, @lilydaisyrose, even the lower carb amount is way, way, way too much on Bootcamp! You should be getting your carbs mainly from vegetables and salad. And not things like milk.

Lenl · 05/10/2017 20:55

purple I just eat Hellmann's mayo. 30g (a decent dollop) has 0.4g carbs. There's 1.3g per 100g. That's low isn't it? Or am I missing something.

Good luck and well done on the walking. I pushed the buggy up a long steep hill today (with toddler on the buggy board)... figured that's my weeks exercise Wink

RubyGoat · 05/10/2017 21:14

Does ice tea count or does it have to be plain water?

I've only got about a stone to lose but with my current health problems I'm not very active most days, & my meds reduce my appetite & make me forget - to eat, to drink. If I don't drink enough I'll get kidney stones from the medication so it's the single biggest challenge with this diet & the biggest part of why I quit before.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 21:17

Bella. I can't believe they didn't weigh your boob. That's just unreasonable.

Ah. There's the nest of Mumsnet vipers I know and love. Grin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 21:23

DeLouis mayonnaise available at Waitrose, but less expensive via Amazon Pantry (if you're a Prime member, possibly, maybe not necessary). It's £2.99 for first box so I'd suggest ordering enough itemsnot just mayonnaisethat you need in order to make the delivery charge cost effective. I tend to top up with tinned tuna and various staples or household cleaning items. It's really worth taking the time to compare costs.

Grimbles · 05/10/2017 21:37

@BIWI If possible could the veg be sorted in order of carbyness on the spreadsheet, or the cells colour coded e.g green for under 4g per 100g, orange for 5-8 and red for 9 and above. It would make it a lot easier to identify the lower carb stuff.

9st 6 on the scales this morning, yo! Period is due next Friday so I am expecting it to stick there or go up slightly over the next 10 days. I will not freak out!

C4gammeldagthefirst · 05/10/2017 22:12

This thread won't last till Monday, are we all going to jump over to the bootcamp thread for the weekend?

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 22:18

Grimbles I think veggies are listed according to carbs on the spreadsheet- under the tab veg carb counter

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 05/10/2017 22:45

bella hope your recovery goes well. You brave brave woman. Flowers

otter thank you for the info. Really appreciate it. And stop lurking and join us properly!! You know we are a good bunch so come and share your ups and downs with us Grin .

purpleviolet stop sabotaging yourself before you have even begun and giving yourself excuses to fail. I can do it and I have no willpower and a cake addiction. Just do it a day at a time. It's piss easy. Just follow the rules. Post here for support and tough love and just commit, woman!! Smile

Moanranger · 06/10/2017 03:14

GF just posted a really handy LC cheat sheet on another thread ( by that name.) I can now see where I am going wrong. I think I need to be more careful with dairy; for me LC works best if cheese, cream etc is more of a condiment. More strict going forward.

StuntNun · 06/10/2017 06:49

Are you both old St Andreans too ASD and PrettyBird? I could pass on Janettas but I think I would be tempted into Fisher and Donaldson.

Grimbles · 06/10/2017 07:05

Nomore, last I looked they were in alphabetical order not in order of carbyness

Thiswillbemyusername · 06/10/2017 07:24

Hi just placemarking, is 40 pages the max for a thread?

Meals yesterday:

B: weetabix w/ milk (pre-exercise so I think carbs are okay for then, are they @BIWI?)
S: 2 hard-boiled eggs

L&D I was at my mum's so there was no LC options available. What I didn't do was binge however, so the scales stayed at the same number as yesterday, thankfully (9st 10.5lb)

prettybird · 06/10/2017 08:00

Yes StuntNun - but I was there a loooong time ago Blush Ds didn't like the atmosphere as he said it was too much "just the university". I told him I couldn't disagree - life as a student there is very much living in an unreal, isolated bubble. I liked it - but I can appreciate why he doesn't think it is for him. He says the course looks very good, so it will remain 3rd choice.

Fisher and Donaldson was indeed very tempting (it looked even better than I remembered) - and it also seems to have a wee branch on South Street - but it was easier to resist as it seemed to be a carb too far! Grin

Thiswillbemyuserne - no, the Weetabix isn't ok, even pre-exercise! If you properly commit to this WoE, then you'll find you have plenty of energy to do exercise, because your body can more easily access its own energy stores rather than just using the sugar carbohydrate you have just consumed.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 06/10/2017 08:11

thiswillbe weetabix isn't allowed in Bootcamp, whether before, during, or after exercise.

The general aim is between 20-30 carbs per day (unless breastfeeding). Two weetabix is 25 carbs. Hmm

When you say there were nonlow carb options at your mum's, do you mean she'd prepared meals and you didn't want to be rude refusing? Or do you mean she didn't actually have any eggs, meat, fish, vegetables, cheese, or salad available? Confused

Have a look at the thread in the Bootcamp section for recipe ideas. There are loads of options out there.

ASDismynormality · 06/10/2017 08:16

stunt a friend of mine used to live there so I visited during the summer holidays quite often, a lovely change from London!

starsky22 · 06/10/2017 08:19

this no need to eat carbs to do exercise, just ask grah he does 200 mile cycle rides on low carbs
