Yolo do you have IBS or is it something you've eaten? Or just constipation building up? Hope you feel better soon.

I did myself the most random injury last night. We have a kind of ledge on our bed frame and I put my water bottle on it while we were watching telly in bed last night. Turned the lights off, realised I needed a wee, then swung my legs over to get out of bed and the spout of the water bottle wedged right into my muscle behind my knee! Now I'm hobbling around and can't do Buggyfit today. Angry

Food plan:
L - massive salad
D - pulled pork with bc coleslaw and loooooooads of crackling, yummers

Gammeldagfinderonwheels · 05/10/2017 08:18

Massive fail for me - I ate three Thornton's chocolates yesterday, I don't know why the only reason I can find is being trapped in the kitchen with Lola. I was under the impression that puppies sleep a lot, up to 17 hours a day according to the books, I guess I have the equivalent of the baby that doesn't sleep, she naps for 20 mins then it's full on playtime again. A large portion of our house is open plan so it's not safe to leave her alone. I haven't been near my studio all week so I'm putting it down to lack of creativity. It's made me really really 😡 with myself.

I'm considering a name change to have the C4 back in my name, I miss it so suggestions please.

Oh no biwi! Thanks for letting me know.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 05/10/2017 09:28

C4 - Alfie doesn't seem too impressed with Lola! She seems quite interested in her new playmate, on the other hand. Tee hee!

Hippa - thanks for the kale suggestions. Will try some out next week. Have a large bag coming. Just don't tell the rabbits I'm nicking their food!

I was getting peeved off this morning. Last Monday the scales read 9'8. They've gone up ever since and today it was 9'13. Now, rationally I know I haven't eaten an extra 17500 more calories than I've used in that time (in fact, two days I only had salad with ham, cheese and oil, followed by yoghurt and cream, and I've been walking a wee bit the last couple of days as well) and so it is not saying I've put on half a stone of fat, but irrationallity was winning over. Until I realised that, only a few months ago, I was unable to get below 10'13. That made me feel better!

KOKO!!!

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 09:33

Bu^%*ger! I wrote a post and my mumsnet app on my phone shut down and lost it. This has happened too many times - I’m contact admin or hq or whoever deals with it so here I go again ....

C4 what a lovely photo - they’ll soon be best mates. I remember our puppies having the mad spurts when the became whirling dervishes - then they collapse on their beds for a big sleep.

Move on from the Thornton’s, today’s another day. Can I be nosy and ask what you do in your studio?

Yolo hope you’re feeling better today - keep yourself hydrated.

It’s my DH’s birthday this weekend and his twin brother and wife are coming for the weekend. They are the ones who gave me hell about dieting and tried to force feed me virtually when I first started this woe. He said I was boring cause I wasn’t drinking wine, I was heading for anorexia because I was trying to diet, etc etc. I’ve deliberately made sure that they come to us rather than us spending the weekend at their house as I’ll be much more in control of what food we eat. We’re going out to a steak bar for the birthday so I’ll be fine any comment from him or her and I’ll just say my house, my rules and it’s rude to comment on peoples eating choices.

RubyGoat · 05/10/2017 09:33

Right. I'm going to try again with this low carbing lark. Despite being flat broke at present (I'm off sick from work for at least 4 months, so I'm not being paid). And despite my health not being great at present (hence the sick leave). But, I suspect now might be a good time to start, as I'm already off refined sugar (tastes horrible due to meds), trying not to have wheat (IBS), & need to massively increase my fibre & water intake (complications of IBS & another health issue). I need to make sure I've got enough variety of do-able, appealing, affordable recipes before I fully start though. The lack of variety got me last time as I was just eating the same few things.

Question for those of you who don't naturally feel thirsty a lot - how do you get all the liquid in? I barely ever remember to drink!

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 09:35

I don’t know how I got it all bolded???!!!

YoLoGammelZammoDag · 05/10/2017 09:51

ragz i have been reluctant to take anything because it swung from bunged up to full evacuation! I dont want to take loperamide in case it puts me back to bunged up iyswim. Sorry tmi. Good idea re electrolytes. I hadnt thought of that. I might make some soup today and try that. With plenty of salty stock.

hippa no ibs. Usually as regular as clockwork. Was fine until last week. Wondered if it was this woe but it cant be as ive been fine since May!

Maybe the supplements I have been taking for the last 3 weeks: Centrum a different multivit than before, magnesium, probiotics, evening primrose oil. When the constipation and cramps were rrally bad I doubled up the probiotics (from 1 to 2 tablets) and stopped the other supplements and then the opposite happened. Could that have been the cause? Or the magnesium? I'm grasping for a reason so I don't repeat this past week.

Arrrgh I'm so hungry and my bum is sore Blush

c4 we will always call you that whatever your name is! But if you want to change it, how about C4&LolaonPinkWheels ?? Or LolaLovesC4 ?

And if you never leave her alone (hard as that is because she is so adorable) she will never learn to cope without you. Separation anxiety is distressing for everyone. What happens when you go to hospital? You don't want her pining for you, crying all day, chewing everything and refusing to eat when you can't be with her. You have to build some resilience into her which means regularly being left alone for short periods, bonding with more than one person and not looking to you for every need, so she can play with toys and entertain herself and get cuddles with Smokey for example.
Tough love if you want a well adjusted manageable, confident and happy doggy!! I speak from experience!! I assume you are doing all the right socialization things? It's a crucial time right now to introduce her to as many new experiences, people and other dogs as you can. You wont be short of people who want to pet her if you go out into town, i'm sure!

prettybird · 05/10/2017 10:24

Lego - I make myself have 2 glasses of water 3 if my pee is too coloured Blush every time I go to the loo. It usually becomes a self-fulfilling prophesy Wink

Normally works quite well - except those days where I haven't had time to go to the loo, where the virtuous circle fails to activate Hmm

I also have cups of peppermint and liquorice tea (lovely and sweet) and in winter, various versions of ginger tea (nice and warming).

Also, once tap water gets too cold to drink quickly, I keep a pint glass of water poured to warm up and count how many of them that I have drunk over the day.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 10:43

We’re going out to a steak bar

What on earth is that, NOMORE?!

Lego fill two empty 2-litre bottles with water and chill overnight. Get a pint glass and fill it, drinknfrom it, all day long. Yes, you will need the loo more often but as you're currently home you'll have no issues planning visits so it should give your body (and bladder) time to adjust to getting the water it needs.

Other than one morning coffee, I don't allow myself to drink anything else until I've done at least one bottle.

purpleviolet have you had a chance to look at the Spreadsheet for Bootcamp? All the allowed foods are on a tab so it might be useful in the first week or two to have it printed out and on your fridge.

Despite the peas/corn/Yorkshire puddings misunderstanding, from your post I get the impression that your typical day might look more cereal/sandwich/pasta so well done for paring that right down on your first day.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 10:44

prettybird I'm the opposite. To me there's no such thing as water that's too cold to drink. Hence my elaborate chilling routine. Grin

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 10:52

Cleareyes Steak bar - a restaurant that specialises in cooking steaks

Lego I have a glass that I know holds is half a litre so I aim for 6 of these and keep a tally in a notepad i keep in in the kitchen.* I add to it any coffees I have too.* Every time I go in the kitchen or to the loo I have a drink of water

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 10:55

Ah. I call them steakhouses, thinking Morton's or Brown's. Had envisioned a steak bar as a place you could go for small samples of steaks...a tiny trio of ribeye, wagyu, and bavette for example. Hmm

prettybird · 05/10/2017 11:04

Cleareyes - I actually like cold water Confused However, I can't drink it fast so if I'm wanting to glug down two glasses quickly, it can't be too cold Grin

Best appliance in the house is the American fridge freezer with its supply of endless chilled water and ice on tap. Smile

Mimosa1 · 05/10/2017 11:17

On the topic of water, can anyone tell me why we need so much more than before starting lchf? I struggle to get more than 1L in, including lots of tea. It hasn't seemed to affect weight loss so far but I want to do things right and hoping that understanding the science behind it will be a push in the right direction.

prettybird · 05/10/2017 11:43

I'll give my non-scientific, populist explanation based on the scientific posts I've read on here : you need so much water because success of the LCHF WoE is predicated on pushing your body into ketosis.

Therefore you need to drink plenty of water to help the process of your body using fat stores for energy (is that enough incentive for you? Wink) and to protect your kidneys by ensuring they are being flushed well enough (also an important reason).

The amount is a function of your weight.

And anyway, we should all probably have been drinking more water even before embarking on this WoE.

And also, it's good for your skin! Grin

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 11:45

Mimosa this is what it says on the BC spreadsheet about water.* I tend to get headachey and a bit nauseous if I don’t drink enough water on this woe.* I don’t know what the science behind it is though

High levels of ketones in the blood stream can lead to a reduction in ketone production, therefore being well hydrated could aid in keeping the levels low and ketone production ongoing. Consuming enough water can have many other positive side effects: aids your kidneys with the processing of protein, reduces the retention of water, helps with preventing constipation, and reduces the levels of ketones released by your breath, which in-turn will reduce breath odour. However, drinking a lot of water can mean that you also need to keep an eye on your electrolyte balance. You need to make sure that you are consuming sufficient sodium and potassium. On a low carb diet we can eat more salt, so make sure that you are cooking with salt and adding salt to food, if you like it. Good, low carb, sources of potassium are spinach (raw), avocado, mushrooms, courgettes and asparagus, as well as salmon and yoghurt

Cleareyes 🤙😀.* It’s a new-ish place that’s been recommended to us. I’ll report back on it.*

I don’t like water too cold and can quite happily drink tap water

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 11:47

Oh b~

ilovecherries · 05/10/2017 12:17

I must have made it.Hmm. Someone has just said to me 'you don't want to lose too much weight. It's probably time to stop now. You don't want to get ill, or weird around food'. I am 23 pounds from the absolute maximum I can be for a healthy BMI - i.e., I'm still pretty near the top of overweight. Granted, three stone off, look a lot better, but fading away I am not.

purpleviolet1 · 05/10/2017 12:24

@ClearEyesFullHearts thank you! Tbh I’m one of these silly people who don’t eat because don’t have an appetite but then when I do eat I binge on junk food like chips , takeaways and generally high carb diet. I also drink a lot of coke when tired (have a 6 month old with ongoing reflux /CMPA issues and health issues of my own) but I’m not going to do that anymore.

I’ve looked at the spreadsheet but couldn’t find a tab of allowed foods? Do you know what the tab is called?

Loving this chat about water - will drink more today.

What’s the chat with beans lentils etc? Not allowed I take it?

Mimosa1 · 05/10/2017 14:10

Thanks to the posters about the water - off to drink some now. The thing about this woe is that it really works, at least for me, so it's worth doing properly. I've lost another kg this week. I'm in spitting distance of getting into the 70s, which will be v exciting! ! I go back to work next month, and have just had a big clothes clear out. I need some new smart-ish work clothes and really don't want to buy at this (hopefully in between-ish) size so I'm extra motivated.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 05/10/2017 14:10

Time is af due? I go up a fair few pounds in the week before, due to water retention, but it all goes, plus another couple in the first few days.

Lego I just keep a bottle of water with me at all times and just drink. It becomes a habit.

C4 how about C4GDFOW - short and to the point?

ahhh ilove why do people say that? My DH was saying I was getting too skinny in the spring and I had to show him my app that said my BMI was 24 or something! I weighed 9st 10 or something at that time and I had to tell him I could go down to something like 7st 10lbs and still be a healthy weight!

Veryflummoxed · 05/10/2017 14:25

Or C4GFpinkwheelskeeperofthehoppersandwaggers

TimeIhadaNameChange · 05/10/2017 14:49

Hippa thanks for the suggestion but I've just finished my period. It probably is related though. I know I shouldn't get upset about it but it is frustrating. Grrrr!

Hope you're looking after your self. x
