Tempted to dive into the cake today as DD2 was diagnosed with ASD, went to Nando's instead and really enjoyed it. I just had lemon and herb chicken with coleslaw which should be pretty low carb.

ASD - I got dragged to a Nando's last Wednesday as I'd taken ds and his friend over to St Andrews for their Open Day and they blagged me getting them lunch between presentations I'd been happy wandering around old haunts on my own

I was good and had a butterflied chicken breast (skin on) with coleslaw. Smile

glosses over the two scoop icecream cone that I had for old times' sake in Jannetta's Blush

Gammeldragz · 05/10/2017 16:26

c4gammeldagthefirst? I'd have thought that for those of us who are already LC and/or fasting, the must eat breakfast rule doesn't apply? BIWI will confirm, I'm sure.

Lunch today was at 10:30am, as I was up at 5:15am and only did a 7hr shift.
I had two boiled eggs mashed with mayo and butter, with beef kebabs.
Dinner will be beef cheddar burgers. I guess I need some veg with that! Creamed spinach, probably.

NSV was called the 'dissapearing woman' on the school run, and someone else separately commented on my weight loss. Feeling good!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 16:32

Granted, three stone off, look a lot better, but fading away I am not.

ilovecherries, what C4 said-- I think most in the Western world have a distorted view ofnhealtjy body weight. Not body type, that is a very different thing.

I'm all for celebrating different shapes, curves, height, type whatever. Some of us have short legs, long fingers, larger thighs, small shoulders, etc etc etc. And I will continue to celebrate those differences at a healthy weight.

But loads of really unhealthy fat? No. It's not fat-shaming, either. I know plenty of fat women who are beautiful and stylish, but they are unhealthy. It's just no good for your bones toncarru the weight, nongood for your organs to be squished inside your body.

When people say you'll waste away they probably donaee youbin comparison to the many morbidly obese people walking down the street and think, actually, you look very healthy. Which you probably do.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 16:45

purpleviolet not sure this will work, but go to this link of the pre-summer bootcamp and look for Allowed Foods.

If you're finding tabs at the bottom, keep going to the right past tabs that look untitled.

If you're finding tabs/links, Allowed Foods is one of the options that appears at the top.

No idea what type of device you're on, so your mileage may vary.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 05/10/2017 17:00

Gammeldragz - I've also been wondering about breakfast. Am so out of the habit now, and really don't have the time any more. Next week would be even more interesting anyway, as DP's away, which means that although it's easier for me to stick to BC I have to do all the animals in the morning and get myself to the office, so even less time to eat. Will have to plan carefully.

BIWI · 05/10/2017 17:10

Yes, if you've been doing low carb for a while, I'm going to make sure I've re-written rule one to say that you don't have to eat breakfast.

@purpleviolet1 - any legume or pulse is out, for Bootcamp as they are simply too carby. Which is a great shame, because they are lovely!

I'm about to start posting a whole load of stuff about preparing for Bootcamp and I'll see if I can include a clear list of what you can and can't eat.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 17:11

namechange do consider the sausage & egg muffins if you're undecided.

I bloody love them and they're fine cold from the fridge but can also be nuked for 30 seconds then grabbed and eaten on the go.

The only real problem is they're popular with the whole family so I often run out just when I want them.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 17:11

Purpleviolet look at the tab for bootcamp rules too
C4 that’s impressive! and you’re absolutely right to make that decision. I did printed textiles at college. I now do painting and drawing on paper but my studio is the spare bedroom and I working on persuading on DH that it should be more mine than a bedroom - like getting a sofa bed etc. There used to be a really good textile arts shop in Derby, sadly now closed

I’m wondering too about what us intermittent fasters etc do too BIWI. I’m not an old hand yet but I’ve passed the 8 week mark now

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 17:13

Doesn't have to be sausages by the way. Can be bacon, streaky bacon, herbs and veg I imagine, possibly even spinach or smoked salmon (haven't tried). Point is they're full of fat and protein (made with double cream and cheese if you like), and are brilliant for the 'I'm Fasting/Am I Fasting?' time pressed gal. Wink

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 05/10/2017 17:22

Ooh dear I cross posted BIWI

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 05/10/2017 17:32

Ahhh I have no self control. Did lovely pulled pork for tea and ate probably nearly a whole portion while I was shredding it, along with loads of the gorgeous crackling! I feel very full now. Poor DH will have to eat on his own and I had got some lovely crunchy salad and bc coleslaw to go with it as well which I'm going to miss out on. Grr.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 17:41

ASD how are you feeling about your daughter's diagnosis? From your desire to dive into cake I'm guessing not so good?

No desire to derail the thread or force you to talk, just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you. Flowers

Ps--don't eat the cake. It really won't make you feel any better. Smile

bellalurgy · 05/10/2017 17:52

Afternoon all, finally caught up. Hello to all the newbies

Pleased to say my op went well and I'm now at home recovering. Nothing dramatic, everything went as planned, I'm just very sore and obviously still battered and bruised!

Anyway, in the interests of furthering knowledge I did ask (especially for Grah ) about the weight of a cup size. (For the newbies I've had my second mastectomy) Surprisingly, no one knew and even worse, they seemed to consider it rather odd that I'd want to know such a thing! The most sensible answer was that it varies because of density, shape etc. So there you have it [wink}

When I got home I weighed myself to see how much one boob weighs but it didn't really help. I'm sort of thinking that I should lower my target weight to take account of my new shape. I was aiming for 126lbs which is 9st (I'm 5ft 1in) but now I'm thinking that being flat I should aim for a bit lower, maybe 120lbs? I could always get there (ha!) and see how I feel.

Like most of you I haven't been near my proper weight for years so WHEN I get there I'll have to think of a way to mark the occasion.

Really looking forward to the next BC, I'm ready to get going on losing weight again.

Sorry for your loss hippo and c4 glad you're home again with lovely cuddles and fuss on tap!

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 05/10/2017 17:57

Bella, I'm aiming for 115-120lbs and I'm 5'4" so seems reasonable to me!

ASDismynormality · 05/10/2017 17:58

prettybird. I'm not sure I could have resisted ice cream from Jannettas if I had been in St Andrews!

cleareyes. Thank you Flowers. It feels strange, it was something I was unsure of even pushing for but asked for an assessment when I actually took her to the drs for something else. The process has been really easy unlike with my son who is more obviously neuro diverse (but has a few different diagnosis so was harder to unpick). I probably feel a bit indifferent about it all but sure it will hit properly soon.

prettybird · 05/10/2017 18:03

ASD - it was purely for nostalgia research purposes Wink, to see of it was still as good as 30 plus Blush years ago Grin They didn't have banana which was my old favourite Hmm

Moanranger · 05/10/2017 18:10

I was wondering about the rules, too, so glad to see the link to "allowed foods" . In the tab it refers to " permitted vegetables" are those the vegetables with their carbs per 100g tab? This is my assumption.
I just spotted coconut yogurt ( not milk yogurt flavoured with coconut, but actually made from coconut. ) It is 3g carbs per 100g. Allowed or not?

NC04 · 05/10/2017 18:22

Thanks, BIWI!

Clear - thanks for the reminder. I must make some for next week, but probably for lunch rather than breakfast. Will have to try them with sausages as I usually use bacon and they'd make a nice change. Do you precook the sausages or just cut them into small pieces (can't decide)?

ASDismynormality · 05/10/2017 18:31

moan I regularly eat Coyo (coconut based yoghurt), it's a good choice.

lilydaisyrose · 05/10/2017 18:54

Please can someone post the sausage/egg/bacon muffin recipe? Sorry if I've missed it upthread.

I had a massive fail today and had a Costa large decaff latte while at baby cinema. I thought it was 12g carbs based on something I'd read on one of the threads. MFP informs me it is 20.5g carbs. Coupled with a large portion of celeriac dauphinoise (with steak & mushrooms) for tea, my carbs for today are 50g. I am b/feeding but only 6 times or so in 24 hours (most overnight) so trying to keep carbs around 40g. My dauphinoise carb count is a bit of a guess too as I didn't weigh the raw celeriac so it could be higher.

HippadoppaloppaGammeldag · 05/10/2017 19:30

50g is still low, it's BC lite type carbs, so don't worry too much. I'm between 20g and 60g at the moment & it's still fine.

I'm a Coyo eater too (I try and avoid dairy as it sets my acne off, although I'm fine with cheese, funnily enough) it's lovely.

Mimosa1 · 05/10/2017 20:15

Oooh I've just ordered a bunch of coconut yoghurt, excited to try it for the first time. I've also bought some Glenliven Farm ff natural yoghurt. It's roughly same carb count as Total by I prefer the texture, much funnier, and it's a bit tangy - highly recommend it.

I'm treating myself to a 90mn (!) massage, as I had a voucher, to celebrate getting back into my pre-pregnancy jeans. How do others celebrate weight loss milestones? Would love some inspiration as I hope there will be many more milestones to come! I'm so used to celebrating with food but obviously that's not such a good planSmile

Bella - I hope you feel better soon.

Asd - sounds like your children are very lucky to have you as an advocate.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 05/10/2017 20:16

NC04 the recipe I use is from the Idiot Proof Diet and the cookbook by Bee Rawlings (sp?).

For sausages you need to cut them out of the casings and brown the sausage meat. You can also just buy pork mince or sausage mince, but it's important to get high quality meat/sausages as many brands pad out their sausages with carby fillers.

Check the labels! Grin
