That's brilliant, C4! Have fun!!!

TempusEejit · 12/09/2017 12:43

Great news C4!

StuntNun · 12/09/2017 14:33

What a relief C4. Have a great holiday.

TempusEejit · 12/09/2017 14:34

@ilovecherries I've just dyed my greys washed my hair so I thought I'd take a couple of pictures to show you the top of my head before and after I put concealer products in. It's not without its downsides - I have to have dark coloured pillowcases as it stains them slightly; I also wash my hair less often than I used to as it takes me about 25 mins to put it all in which takes way too long for my liking!

Sorry don't mean to hijack thread with hair ishoos Blush

c4 congratulations on being deemed fit to fly! Hope bride recovers and wedding goes well. I have no idea what they eat in Denmark?
Time my DH is about to start counselling/therapy, after finally going to the GP about his recurrent depression (which I'm sure is bipolar II) a few months ago. We don't really talk about feelings so it will be great if he starts sharing stuff with a counseller and hopefully will pay off at home too. I try not to remind him how he kept telling me years ago that my depression and PMT were 'all in my head' and I should 'just think my way out of them'...

NSV - due to Tesco's very generous sizing I am now the proud owner of a lovely pair of black bootcut jeans in a size 12! They are very flattering. I also bought a pair of boots (very low on footwear due to large feet) as an 8 in tesco is EU42.
However, this was rather ruined by the bag if macadamia nuts I bought for my lunch, that must have been off and have made me feel sick and burp rancid nuts all afternoon!
Also my travel coffee mug broke. And I have a headache as I forgot my water bottle at uni today.
I will try to focus on the positives of the day!

MOIST · 12/09/2017 15:41

Great news C4.

MOIST · 12/09/2017 15:43

I have a massive first world problem

While I am on my lovely sunny holiday on a beautiful Greek island, relaxing, blah blah blah......

I feel fat. I'm tired. I'm fretting about impending (extremely minor) surgery, feeling fat, grumpy, sweaty, itchy, blah blah blurgh.

I just want to be in my own bed, on my own.

MOIST · 12/09/2017 15:44

God that's a self indulgent whinge.

ragz134 · 12/09/2017 15:56

MOIST consider yourself slapped with a wet fish! Forget it all and enjoy yourself, that's an order! Flowers (Because I'm nice, really).

TempusEejit · 12/09/2017 16:07

I'm with you Moist, I often feel like I need a holiday to get over being on holiday!

ragz congrats on your NSV - weight loss aside I'm super impressed you've actually found an emporium that sells non-skinny jeans. I keep waiting for that certain trend to die but they seem to keep getting even skinnier Angry

ilovecherries · 12/09/2017 16:20

Wow, Tempus, that's amazing. I wouldn't have believed that was possible. Thanks so much. :)

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 12/09/2017 16:23

Tempus your hair looks good in the after pictures, you'd never be able to tell that was concealer products! And welcome to low carb bootcamp!

Time I don't think you'll be able to convince your mum to do LCHF. Some people are completely against it and it sounds like she will be one of these ones. I would mention it, but then don't bother trying.

C4 yay holiday! I've been to Copenhagen but this was pre-bootcamp, so I can't remember what I ate particularly. Cuisine wasn't especially outstanding, except a lovely bowl of mussels in Nyhavn. Have a lovely time and enjoy the wedding.

MOIST try & chill, easier said than done, I know!

My food for today:

L - avocado, mushrooms & egg all fried up together in butter and smoked paprika. Plus a pack of chicken jerky that I found in ASDA, which was really really nice!
D - massive green salad with smoked salami and feta, drizzled in chilli oil and mixed herbs.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 12/09/2017 16:39

I have no idea what they eat in Denmark?

Couldn't resist. Grin

Mimosa1 · 12/09/2017 16:47

Very, thanks for the kind words, and Ragz,
Congrats on the NSV thinks about size 12 longingly
My NSV for today is that a pair of size 18 trousers I bought in desperation in the Phase 8 sale when I really needed something smart for a keep in touch work event are now loose. They were sooo tight when i bought them. My lovely SIL who'd lent me all her maternity wear asked for all of it back as her best friend was pregnant and she wanted to give it to her. So after weeks of wearing only pregnancy clothes after the baby was born, I suddenly had to get something to wear at short notice and I could barely squeeze into the trousers which are now (a bit) loose Grin

ragz134 · 12/09/2017 17:04

The bootcut jeans are so comfy. Very stretchy (hence the 12! I have 14s I still can't get into!). I have been looking for bootcut for months! Fed up with skinny jeans. They did have a nice straight leg pair too, also stretchy. I resisted. Black jeans do worry me though as I tend to fade them in a few washes and they look all crap with lines on... I must get better at Laundry!

Dinner is going to be something with chorizo and halloumi. Probably kale/spinach.

ragz134 · 12/09/2017 17:04

Mimosa congratulations on your trouser victory!

starsky22 · 12/09/2017 17:52

So much to catch up on

C4 really pleased that you've been given the ok to fly, better get packing!

ilove can totally understand you feeling like that about your hair, hopefully some of the products mentioned on here will help. Have you thought about taking a multi-vitamin in case you are deficient in something? Also make sure you are eating enough protein and I'd second upping your carbs/calorie intake a bit, good luck!

tempus welcome and amazing transformation, would not have known you had used products on that second photo, looks very natural

ragz and mimosa congrats on trouser NSVs!

MOIST do not ruin your holiday thinking those thoughts, relax and enjoy yourself! That's an order!

So I had my carby weekend away, didn't go crazy, stuck to low carb/fasting for 2 meals on both Sat & Sun and had one meal where I allowed myself carbs including bread/alcohol/puddings! Also made sure I did some exercise and drank loads of water to try and limit the damage. I decided to follow the advice in the article that Grah linked to and see it as an experiment to see how I would react to the extra carbs. I didn't feel great after, bloated/stomach aches/wind etc. but not as bad as I might have expected. I put on 2lbs over the weekend and am out of ketosis. Have been back to low carb since yesterday, and interested to see how long it takes to get back into ketosis and lose the 2lbs. The hardest thing is how I have been feeling yesterday and today, definitely wanting to snack more, ended up eating a whole pack of kabonossi (they are like pastrami, but made of chicken & turkey) yesterday afternoon Blush low carb, but not great! Feeling headachey, tired and nauseous too. Can't wait for my body to get over this and get back to normal (well low carb normal!)

No plans to do it anytime soon again, so it's SSS for me now!

TempusEejit · 12/09/2017 18:05

Thanks for the welcome.

Well done starsky for only a 2lb gain, I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

I've just made a batch of celeriac rostis for the freezer, I'm fasting at the moment and can't try any so I'm just having the odd sniff of them while they cool Grin I'm going on holiday this Friday for a week so I'm prepping low carb stuff ready to jump back onto LCHF 100% when I get back (not planning on being too much of a carby twat whilst away but I have to be realistic).

SummerSazz · 12/09/2017 19:21

time my mum is pre diabetic but won't give up biscuits. So I have moved her from margarine to butter (marg only one molecule away from plastic sorted that one 😁), full fat milk/yoghurts - she needs to put on weight so this is helpful and they taste better. The rest is work in progress....

Welcome tempus your hair 'do' is amazing and cherries I hope you find a solution to feeling more confident going out.

Sorry I can't reply to everyone as work is bonkers but I'm still reading and currently maintaining.

Have a MRI on my foot tomorrow so hopefully they can tell me what is going on and I can restart exercise as this gives me focus for the food side too.

Grimbles · 12/09/2017 19:36

Evening all. I'm experimenting again and have made chilli tonight. Mince fried in butter some garlic, paprika, chilli powder, cumin and cayenne. Half jar tomato pesto and some water for it all to simmer in. Chucked in a packed of barenaked rice and will stick it in a dish, cover in grated cheese and heat in the oven.

B. Bacon and mushrooms
L. Boiled egg, tinned tuna in oil mixed with blue cheese
S. 2 chili chicken wings, pork Scratchings
D. Chilli

3 creamy coffees, 1 coffee with dash of semi-conscious, 2l of water so far

Grimbles · 12/09/2017 19:37

Semi-skimmed not semi-conscious Hmm

OldBooks · 12/09/2017 21:40

C4 so glad you will be able to travel! Hope the quilt is going well.

Ragz I got bootcuts from Simply Be, but I feel really frumpy in them. Sticking to straight leg for now.

Finally that's amazing, well done your DH!

Ilove Flowers hope you find a solution and an interim measure to make you feel comfortable

Welcome tempus!

Mimosa my DM sounds very similar to yours. Hope it isn't too stressful to have her stay. Well done on the size 18 looseness!

Moist I bet no-one gives a damn what you look like except you. Try to relax and enjoy yourself.

starsky I am exactly the same getting over my carby holiday. Headachey, desperate to snack, tired etc. But have now lost 4lbs of the holiday gain, 2 since Sunday.

Mimosa1 · 12/09/2017 22:33

Thanks, oldbooks, ragz and stun.

ilove I made your chicken tonga recipe tonight. Utterly, mouthwateringly delicious. I felt quite smug presenting it to DH given that I happened to have frozen stock, and packs of frozen and diced shallots and garlic to hand Only thing I had to chop was the ginger. I even had a bottle of lemon juice so no squeezing. My kind of cooking from scratch and YUM. Also used up some veg almost on the turn - so satisfying.

Jamie Oliver's new 5 ingredient cookbook has arrived today and it looks really good. The idea is that each recipe has only 5 ingredients, and the carb, protein, fat and calorie count for each recipe is listed. Quite a lot of lowish carb you could make even more lchf by using full fat alternatives for things like mince, coconut milk., or dairy. I didn't get on with his other books as so much equipment and so many ingredients were needed, especially for the 15m meals one but have high hopes for this.

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 12/09/2017 22:43

Time, Ask mum if her way of eating is so right and healthy, how come she is now diabetic??? Smile

But first If you are worried about having high LDL levels on a high fat, keto or Atkins diet then this podcast is for you.

Haven't watched it yet his main website is here. Which looks like an evening's read. But having read this article on the Calculation Wondering if its all just "BMI Science" -- i.e. guestimates that are like a stopped watch, works but twice a day.

Talking of BMI --
I had a DEXA scan today, one of the most accurate measures for body fat. 22.4% .4 into overweight for age
Electronic scales says 26 to 27.5 on average so even that number can't be trusted.
But my BMI is 28.8 top end of over weight - which as we all know is a rubbish indicator of health. going use the YLZ indicator.
YoLoZammo said it best, be able to move around with lightness of foot and boundless energy

C4 here's hoping you have Fun in Denmark and stay off the Danish Pastries but enjoy the bacon. Don't stress the diet, enjoy the family and friendship, the expected gain will be just current concern/thought but the family together in Demark is forever in the memory, so enjoy.

But worst case scenario, if you aren't able to get on the plane, I sure little Alfie would give his grandma a week long snuggle, till DH and the skids are back.

MOIST - if you don't behave we'll have to send you to the beach and make you stay there until you have fun, and Supper will be just Steak and a Salad. washed down with a Gin

C4pinkwheels · 13/09/2017 00:03

How do I know? Because it made his daddy cry. Oh ok it's 2 photos, but I drank gin it's an excuse and I own it.
