Lisa, yes, it will. The glaze won't be as sticky, but it will be fine. Just watch the carbs in the Korean paste though - some brands are loaded with sugar.

@ragz134 have you had the big empty after your big dinner?
Most I put on with water and a meal was 6lb. Very thirsty. Took 2 days to get back down to pre-ride / meal weight.
Being a serial weigher the up and down during the 24hr period is normal. Sometimes the body loves what we eat and keeps it a little longer.

MOIST · 11/09/2017 15:51

BMI is shite. I have weekly discussions with people over how you simply cannot measure BMI in women who are 36 weeks pregnant and it's a shite measurement when not lugging a 7 lb fetid, placenta, fluid, increased blood volume and massive lactating boobs around.

MOIST · 11/09/2017 15:52

Fetid???? Fetus.

lisbapalea · 11/09/2017 15:53

Thanks ilove - I might substitute the hot pepper paste with some kind of home made sugar-free concoction from my spice cupboard!

wotabastard · 11/09/2017 16:41

I have a cold and desires to be a carby twat! Help! Grin

Mimosa1 · 11/09/2017 16:50

I hope it goes well Bella, will be thinking of you. ilove glad others have posted with some more helpful advice than mine.

Work KIT day today, had haloumi, chicken and salad for lunch, but am ravenous. Had v small portions as it was family style buffet and mostly veggie, so couldn't take all the chicken Grin and not a huge fan of haloumi. A whole avocado, with cheese and half a slice of Parma ham for breakfast. Still can't believe this WOE will result in weight loss, but... I'm down 3.5kg in the first 2 weeks of LCHF eating. Very chuffed indeed. Now for the next 2 weeks, which I believe are notorious for stalling and include a visit to family and a night at a gorgeous hotel with my BF and her family for her bday.... would love to get under
82kg/13st, so another 1.5kg over the next 2 weeks. We shall see.

At what point have ppl added exercise to their regime. I am embarrassingly unfit. Am planning to try a yoga and meditation class tonight on the basis that it sounds quite gentle.

Grimbles · 11/09/2017 16:54

I'm experimenting tonight. I was aiming for a sausage casserole but it's ended up more like a sausage stroganoff!

I've got half a tin of chopped toms, added some water, double cream a bit of butter and then some paprika and chilli flakes. I know tinned toms are quite carby so the idea is for the sausages to just cook in them and for most of the juice to remain in the dish IYSWIM

Not sure how it's going to turn out Confused

Grah0SoontobeaFitty · 11/09/2017 19:01

@wotabastard have some hot broth with butter, use a spoon and suck off the butter, as if you had dunk a piece of bread.

You get all the sensations of the "dipping the bread" but none of the carbs.

@Mimosa1 When to add exercise - depends on the amount you need to lose, if you already near target or miles away.

We discussed this before and seems we all experience Stalls and bounce ups if we exercise.. But do get NSV in body shape changes.
thread on the question

YoLoZammo · 11/09/2017 19:10

ilove with the hormone theory I wasn't suggesting it was some sort of severe imbalance (ie out of the normal range for a woman of your age) but just part of the fluctuation that can accompany this WOE. Remember how many of us had extra periods at odd times because the fat was releasing oestrogen as it exited? This may or may not have happened with you (sorry I can't remember!) But i wondered if your body just reacted by releasing some of your hairs earlier in the hair growth cycle. I'm not really up with the science but it seems to make sense and fits with stunts advice.

Another thing in the hope it makes you feel a bit better you are fairly tall, notwithstanding some slight shrinkage, so most people won't notice. Just don't sit down a lot.

You have fair hair so that is also a bonus point towards invisible scalp! Seriously thoigh I'm sure it's only temporary. We will be calling you Rapunzel in 6 months Grin

Chin up girl! We are all here with you.

ClearEyesFullHearts · 11/09/2017 19:15

I have worse results if I don't exercise, but I've been doing this a while, and slowly.

I also have worse results if I don't drink the water. It's essential.

I've not exercised or drink the water this week.

I have also not been a carby twat, I've been a carby motherfucker. An absolutel 4-day binge for no reason whatsoever.

Maybe I'm missing my therapist (we resume sessions on Wednesday after a month-long summer break).

Maybe I got complacent being in "One-derland."

Maybe the NSVs went to my head.

Don't know, but I do know I'm 2.6 lbs up from last week (so 201.8 lbs) and my SSS is not going to plan, more like Super Shitty Start.

Weirdly, I'm not that bothered. I know this isn't the end for me. As I said, I've been doing this a while and know it's my life now. As with real life, it has its ups and downs. Four bad days aren't going to derail me.

Namaste birches, and Flowers to the many of you who need them right now.

YoLoZammo · 11/09/2017 19:16

wota don't be silly. If you have a cold you won't taste anything you eat anyway so it will be a waste of being a carby twat. Chicken soup. That's what you need!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 11/09/2017 19:17

*or drunk

(Pedant is my middle name Blush)

YoLoZammo · 11/09/2017 19:20

Welcome to hugo.

Sorry to hear you need a second mastectomy bella. It is treatment or prevention? You don't need to answer. Either way you must be a very brave and strong person indeed to deal with all that.

ilovecherries · 11/09/2017 19:39

I'm long past the period stage of life, YoLo :). I am laughing at the thought that maybe I should put on a pair of three inch flatforms every time I appear in public. That'll show my hair follicles that they need to get back to work. The hairdresser did suggest I considered a gentle tint to my hair, as he said that would pick up all the short, light coloured fuzz and give a sense of more hair, but I was too upset for that at the time, but I may go back this week and have him do it. Wouldn't dare to put anything on it myself just now. I've just been out to a big Boots in a shopping centre and bought some Nourkrin. Can't remember who suggested it - Mimosa maybe? Anyway, bloody expensive - £50 for a month's supply (!!!) - but it was the only one that didn't have iron, and I'm not allowed iron supplementation, so I decided I'd buy it and hope it's worth it. Made DH go to the checkout as I was too upset, and he said the woman there said it had worked wonders for her, so here's hoping (they do a men's version as well, so they'd got into conversation because she was checking he hadn't bought the wrong one). My hair is actually falling out rather than breaking off though, I paid particular attention today, and they all have the little keratin plug on the end. I know it would be inappropriate cultural appropriation but I've been looking longingly at Nadiya Hussian's headwear on Nadiya's travels and thinking I'd feel better in that.

I know I'm being a total baby about this, BTW, it's a very self-centred issue. It's just Ive been totally bald once before, as a student after something really shit happened. I was one of the lucky ones who's hair grew back, but I think that's why I am so anxious about this.

Actually, I coped much better the last time. Partly because the hair loss was overshadowed by the awfulness of the situation, partly because at that age I decided to make my bald head a statement. I harassed my husband into measuring the bald bit - I know he didn't want to tell me how bad it actually is, but apparently there is an oval shape about 2 x 3 inches with hardly any hair on it, then a very wide - maybe half an inch - parting. I'm so worried it's not weight loss related. Although If the worst comes to the worst, I will probably look better if I'm slim and bald, rather than fat and bald. (Tries to find the bright side)

Cherries you don't have to justify yourself - rightly or wrongly hair is important to a lot of people and I remember how upset I've been at bodged cuts or dyejobs which are temporary. Hair loss, especially for women, is way beyond that.

I hope you get some answers soon Flowers

Grimbles · 11/09/2017 20:39

My sausage stroganoff turned out ok, surprisingly!

B. Bacon and fried eggs
L. Tuna mayo, grated cheese, lettuce and cucumber
S. Pork Scratchings
D. Sausage stroganoff, buttered leeks.

2 creamy coffees, 2 coffees with splash skimmed milk. At least 2l of water and I've got another .75l bottle on the go.

wotabastard · 11/09/2017 20:42

ilovecherries you are not being a baby at all. I'd be the same if not worse. Flowers

I wasn't a carby twat. So ner. Grin

Thanks guys.

Grimbles · 11/09/2017 20:42

Welcome to the thread Hugo.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 11/09/2017 20:52

Cherry that must be awful for you I'm so sorry. I don't have much to offer you in the way of advice but I did wonder if the product called Alpecin https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpecin-Caffeine-Shampoo-Liquid-Energizer/product-reviews/B001Q1E2RY would help.

Bella I'll be sending you positive vibes.

Welcome Hugo I'm fairly new - 5 weeks in and love this WOE. Read all the info posted at the top of of previous boot camp threads and ask away - someone will have the answer - we're all friendly

B Greek yoghurt a spoonful of mascarpone and a spoonful of creme fraiche and some flaxseeds - to help "things" move
Lunch 2 egg omelette with mushrooms and 2 slices of smoked salmon cooked in butter, and some feta cheese with rocket and watercress, and topped off with a dollop delouis mayonnaise
D white fish, spinach in butter, broccoli green beans an avocado- and some mayonnaise!

lisbapalea · 11/09/2017 20:58

Pork stir fry thing was really delicious and dh even said the cauliflower fried rice was a good addition (I thought it smelled hideous but was ok to eat, thank god).

Just treated myself to a few frozen berries with dble cream and half a square of 90% choc grated on top. Yum!!!!

Grimbles · 11/09/2017 21:06

What do people do when they are I'll or need to take cough medicine, etc. as a lot of remedies can be quite sugary.

I normally take a lemsip and drink honey and lemon when I'm ill! Paracetamol on its own doesn't do the job.

wotabastard · 11/09/2017 21:42

I tend to drink vats of water. Been breastfeeding a couple of years and most cold remedies are off limits so just learnt to struggle through it. Horrible as my sinuses are mostly affected.

FinallyHere · 11/09/2017 22:02

Grimbles When I felt that i really needed some cough medicine, I asked a chemist for cough medicine suitable for diabetics. They produced some sugar free stuff, which i took along with sugar free strepsils ( taking note of the laxative properties of sugar free stuff). Not ideal, but better, i felt, than carby twatdom.

I fell to thinking how much medicine is based on sugar, or at least sugar coated, especially given the way we now understand that sugar is the root of so much evil. I read the professor yudkin book about sugar pure, white and deadly in the 70's and it still took this mumsnet bootcamp thread to get me going on LCHF.

Another thing today, I'd like to say many thanks to BIWI, Stuntnun, Wombatoo and all the lovely bootcampers, DH (type II diabetic) has been following you, loosely and at secondhand, through me. Three months in, his blood sugar control was back in the prediabetc range and today has been pronounced not diabetic. Woops of joy. Medicine has been cut significantly and may be cut further. He is just struggling a bit with his usual pose of 'it will never make any difference' 😁

Thank you all.
