should have been Grin of course.

Not too good a weekend here. Stuff I can't really go into, but suffice to say I really wished I had someone to look after me, put their arms round me and tell me it would all be ok :(

the irony of course is I never had that with the Ex anyway, I spent too much time arguing with him to ever have that 'us against the world' feeling. but I really do want that. What scares me slightly is whether I will ever find it, or if this is as good as it will ever be, and I should accept it, and buy a cat. or five.

it's all crap really :(

tookool, am :( re startdust. what a shitbag.

mily - any more re jewellers? Grin

elasta - hope date went well!

Wysiwig · 31/01/2011 00:27

Ladies...been reading all your interesting/entertaining messages...do you think 50 is too old to date???

elastamum · 31/01/2011 00:38

Well Im back from my date....

So. Had very nice 3 hr long meal in gastropub with very nice, bright, good looking man and he paid. BUT, there's always a but isnt there, BUT he just isnt for me. Dont know why but he did absolutely nothing for me and I suspect he feels the same about me.

Thats life isnt it. On paper he looks perfect, we like the same things, sends me lovely witty e mails, but in person no spark between us at all.

The moral of this story, if there is one is dont send endless emails, get out there and meet them in real life because until you do you just dont know.

Never mind, still physio and blueeyes left to meet. NEXT!!Grin

Night, night, FAI ladies, am off to bed.

elastamum · 31/01/2011 00:39

You are never too old to date Wyswig!

BTW I am 46 Smile

persephonesnape · 31/01/2011 07:13

i am 907. at least i feel like it this morning.

lilacisinlove · 31/01/2011 07:31

elasta, I was always a fan of meet them asap...no point in getting to know someone virtually if they don't do anything for you when you meet them in person.

I showed TLOML my divorce petition last night...he was absolutely Shock at the UB details but he understands better now why I keep contact with my ex to the bare minimum.

Welcome wysiwig, no, 50 definitely not too old. Just ask all the 20 and 30-somethings on here who get contacted by men over 50!!

OP posts:
tookoolforskool · 31/01/2011 07:43

i got contacted by a 72 year old a few weeks ago... only a small 50 year age difference. jeeze.
!!!!

i feel decidley 'meh' today.
Fucking men.
I know its not me, its them.
But it doesnt help with me being a bit suspicious when it keeps being proven that i was right to be suspicious and untrusting, you know.

Have no childfree weekends really this month, child who has just started school is pretty much in meltdown every night from tiredness... so no babysitter would want to deal with that.

I shall stay on pof and ok cupid and just see if anything good turns up.
Maybe guardian soulmates in march if i feel like it.

To sum up jan. 5 actual dates gone on, with 3 men. 1 snog. no shags. worth the effort..... probably not.

See- feeling all poo about myself today. Shall have to self medicate with pasta, malteasers and maybe lots of wine.

elastamum · 31/01/2011 08:14

Oh TKFS Repeat after me. I am fab and you are all too stupid to realise what you are missing! Smile

elastamum · 31/01/2011 08:16

Jan for me. 3 dates, 3 different men. 1 snog (but old friend so probably doesnt count) No shags either!!

Flame · 31/01/2011 08:59

Hmm... 5 actual dates. 4 different men. One peck. 2 full shags. 1 Matt.

Now a month off as this month hasn't made me happy.

Still not much further with the moving on. I am able to talk to him about our respective dates without feeling like I am falling apart so I guess that is better. Would happily still drop everything for him though.

tookoolforskool · 31/01/2011 09:15

i know im fab. ;)
My fab ness is not in question, only my obviously shite luck with men.

Tis their loss, just makes me feel a bit crap for a day or so. I shall be fine later... because its hairdresser day and im having a different colour. Probably. :)

sorry the date had no spark. Do you think he will call you agaiin? what will you do if he does?

i supose stats wise we have all done quite well on the dating front. Not to be sniffed at.

A older ( 10 years older than me) aquantance mum type friend asked if i was single the other day and was really shocked when i said yes. Then she laughed and said i should join match or something, as its easy and apparently i will then have a boyfriend in about a week. oh the irony.

flame - thats quite good on the moving on. Mr big is in a grump with me, though i did talk to him for a short while yesterday. Its good that he is in a grump with me. Hopefully he will stay in a grump with me for a while.

StellaBrillante · 31/01/2011 11:28

morning all!
not much to report seeing that date with 'supposedly very nice guy' (SVNG) got postponed to tomorrow evening... he did text me on Friday eve and we had a really nice texting session. then he came over to my desk this morning while it was still very quiet... this is the guy i know and that's how i want him to remain: a genuinely nice person. regardless of whatever happens (if anything at all), this is one guy that if nothing else i'd like to be very good friends with. anyway...
'toxic waste' (last guy i dated about 12 months ago) has just email me - yuk! argh! eeeeeew!!! he's being all friendly but i know what he's up to as he's tried that approach before. the guy is VERY good looking, good job, own house so on paper all good. however he loves playing games and the whole mind-twisting bla bla and he's not particularly... articulate? intelligent? i was exhausted by it all after only a few weeks!
ironic though, isn't it? why couldn't this be the one person who i really want to just have a cup of coffee with?!?! i don't know what has got into me but i know without a doubt that he is the man i want. i can't remember ever feeling so certain.
tookool: so sorry to hear about...everything! you are one seriously tough cookie, lady!!!!! HUGS

StellaBrillante · 31/01/2011 11:33

errr... can i just add that i am STILL in the 'no date whatsoever' category?!?! Confused

tookoolforskool · 31/01/2011 11:38

well. i hope the date goes well tomorrow. And that if something, or nothing happens then you can still be friends.

little bit confused about toxic waste. are you saying you do like him? or you dont?

Im not a tough cookie at all.
Im pretending to be.
I feel a bit like a large pile of poo really.
There is only so much rejection a person can take. and i feel ive reached my quota for the next few months.
actually feeling abit fat, and unattractive nad crap and boring and wondering why i even bothered.
am pondering a cat purchase... ( actually thats a lie, but i do have a dog and we are getting guinea pigs)

Hatesponge · 31/01/2011 11:39

tookool, I get told a lot (usually by people who have no experience of the minefield that is dating sites) that I will find any no of dates/a boyfriend/a husband online, as X's neighbours sister's friend did Hmm.....I just smile and nod now.

My stats are so poor (last date March 2010, last snog Oct 2010, last shag too long ago to remember!) that it's probably best not to include them as it will detrimentally affect the average :)

tookoolforskool · 31/01/2011 11:49

i shall go with the smile and nod from now on.
I think people have no idea. You know, i think, that if i was able to go out to a pub regulary or something, that i would get chatted up or something, but i dont. Ive a distinct shortage of friends who actually want to do anything that involves them leaving their houses in the evening. and then noone who is single.
Chances of meeting people are then down to online only, which, i think mostly is shit.
or is, at best a minefield.

add your stats. its good to know really what it is.
Stella ... but you have a date tomorrow... :0 :) :) :)

StellaBrillante · 31/01/2011 11:56

my stats are worse! last snog: april 2010 (or even kiss on the cheek from someone other than a friend!)

tookool: you will feel better once you've had your hair done. it can be incredibly hard to stay focused, even if it's just to do things which make you feel better about yourself! or i find that every so often... although i seem to be sticking to my swimming regime whenever i can...for now!

i don't like 'toxic waste'. we've got absolutely nothing in common and he likes playing his mind games which never worked as i could see straight through it all - quite embarassing a couple of times when i actually pointed it out to him. his parents are lovely though... maybe i will keep the parents?!?!

i am still going on about 'mr teacher'. if i think positive enough, surely he will at least ask me out for a coffee? maybe when i am doing refreshments during school play in a couple of weeks... Blush

StellaBrillante · 31/01/2011 12:36

the pub scene doesn't work for me either btw. and most of my friends are the stay in types, preferably moaning that their other halves have gone off to do something interesting with their mates?!?! Confused
then there's the friend who's always inviting herself to come to my house (me: single parent, full time job, no help vs. she: single, no children, good job, relatives around the corner), happy to tag along when i've got something planned but has never invited me to join whenever she's got something interesting planned. nice friend Hmm
that was why i thought i'd try the internet... which has been rather short-lived! so i've run out of ideas... just sit and wait...
have you tried some volunteering 'something' with a local art festival or similar or local environment initiative? i've got it in my mind that it's my preferred route to meet someone like-minded.
ps. can't count tomorrow's date yet as it may not happen! Wink

BeauticianNotMagician · 31/01/2011 13:04

Hi all

Well DG fell down stairs as he got so drunk on friday and hurt his wrist. He couldn't be bothered to wait to get it seen to at the hospital.I didn't hear from him on saturday as he thought after some texts on friday that i didn't want to be with him anymore(crossed wires). When he called on saturday eve to explain he was soo drunk i couldn't understand half of it and he was crying.

Anyway all is forgiven he came to see me yesterday and it has just become quite apparent that we are finding it so hard being apart. He says he feels he is missing out with the boys as well.So the house hunt continues.

Mily Congrats on decree nisi.Anymore jewlerry news Grin

Took Sorry about stardust.Next Grin. What did you decide with the hair?

Elasta Glad you had a good date regardless of not clicking. You still have two more on the go so no need to worry haha.

If it makes anyone feel better for two full years i didn't have a snog let alone anything else.I was really ok without now and looking back now i realise i just wasn't ready.

Flame · 31/01/2011 13:40

Also feeling fat and unlovable. Period doesn't help that mood though.

I would be much happier going out and meeting people in rl, but a) it costs b) I only have one single friend (well 2 if you count Carrot but I can see us being too engrossed in ourselves to notice tbh).

Going to try St Johns Wort for a bit instead of my ADs.

BeauticianNotMagician · 31/01/2011 13:47

Flame Ahh you are certainly not fat and far from unlovable. It is just your period.I have been suffering quite bad pmt since i changed my pill.

Hope you feel better soon.

beingsetup · 31/01/2011 13:53

Can I join you again? I'm feeling fat, despite not eating and having a stomach bug Sad. I'm back on the dating site but not expecting anything......although I've had a bunch of compliments etc

My little one has not slept in months and tantrums all the time which doesn't help....

Sorry all those whose dates blew them out, not to worry its nearly spring and I'm sure your lives will hot up when the sun comes out Grin

Flame · 31/01/2011 13:54

It didn't help that Download was telling me last night that his goddess of an ex was so stunning he tended to get performance anxiety as he felt she was too outstanding. I am clearly average enough for that not to happen.

Don't get me wrong, she is hot (he showed me a pic), but I didn't think she was that much hotter.

Logically I can tell myself that it is the whole package and not just a physical thing (he seems hopelessly besotted with her still), but illogically less so.

(This probably all sounds weird - have still been talking to Download on msn most nights as we figured we get on well even if we're not in a place to do a relationship - he now knows the whole sorry Carrot thing too)

beingsetup · 31/01/2011 14:09

Flame it is the whole package otherwise they would still be together....

lou33 · 31/01/2011 14:13

There must be something in the air, i have been moaning about my appearance too.
