Caravan on driveway

kelpie35 · 02/08/2021 16:56

I have just returned home to find a caravan parked on my driveway.
I have been away for 5 days visiting my son.
Can someone advise me what I can do to get it removed. I have no idea who it belongs to.

I'm so overinvested in this!

50ShadesOfCatholic · 10/08/2021 04:54

@CMOTDibbler

I could actually believe the accidental delivery - dh bought a car from a dealership in April and they delivered it to the wrong address. Just parked it and put the keys through the letterbox! Fortunatly our neighbours are honest and gave us the keys
Not just cars or caravans, I've read about a couple who arrived at their land to find a house had sprung up on it. The building company had got the wrong address.

And poof. The op has gone!

Never going to get that 10 mins of my life back.

BooseysMom · 10/08/2021 05:11

This is parking cheeky fuckery on a new level...

🤣🤣🤣

Sorry everyone, wrong post, don't know how to delete,is there a delete option or a move to another board option?

KatherineJaneway · 10/08/2021 06:13

@douliket

You need to report your own post, ask for it to be deleted. I don't think they move to the correct thread but you could ask.

Darbs76 · 10/08/2021 06:57

I wonder if someone said you can park your caravan on my drive whilst I’m away and someone went to the wrong address?! Seems really strange. Do update us Op!

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 10/08/2021 06:57

I wonder if OP was on Sale of the Century or Bull's Eye and won the top prize (it was usually a caravan or a little motor boat) and the TV company has just got round to delivering it? Hmm

Is it still there OP. I need a caravan :)

I have a tow vehicle and everything : )

:)

MullinerSpec · 10/08/2021 07:43

In this current situation with staycation I'd say you've hit the jackpot, keep it and going touring round the UK, or sell it and be in the money!

SquirryTheSquirrel · 10/08/2021 07:48

keep it and going touring round the UK

Or simply leave it on the driveway and sleep in it for a fortnight - all that holiday vibe with none of the hassle.

Be sure to hide at least one essential item for the duration, such as your hairdryer, for added 'damn, I forgot to pack it' realism.

whatsleep · 10/08/2021 08:24

Just wheel it off if your drive, no car needed to do this. Leave it somewhere it will be in the way (but not dangerous obvs) and wait for the police to have it removed.

speakout · 10/08/2021 08:28

No updates OP?

Hopeisallineed · 10/08/2021 08:34

I think this is a windup.

user1471538283 · 10/08/2021 08:37

I would report it as abandoned and get the council to tow it away.

HeronLanyon · 10/08/2021 08:52

I think op has gone touring in it and forgotten to update us.

HerkyBaby · 10/08/2021 08:59

Did you say that you had an abandoned presumed stolen caravan dumped on your drive when you rang 101?

peridito · 10/08/2021 09:29

The police won't touch it unfortunately, because it's on private land. Having been in a slightly similar situation recently this can be a real pain. I would definitely start with asking around the neighbours, local FB and contacting CRIS. The ID number is often on the window. Data protection means CRIS won't share the owner details with you but - as someone suggested - you could tell them you think a stolen caravan has been abandoned there and they might contact the owner on your behalf.
www.cris.co.uk/registration/

and this
Have a close look at the front /side windows and there should be a CRIS number etched on it

excellent posts
@kelpie35 have you checked ?

peridito · 10/08/2021 09:31

Yes OP has updated

kelpie35 Tue 03-Aug-21 09:55:56
Well I did phone 101. They said it was nothing to do with them. Advised me to phone the Council.

So as at present I am awaiting a reply from them, but do not hold out for a speed reply.

HeronLanyon · 10/08/2021 09:32

Op can you rent it out meantime as ‘glamping’ 😀

lazylump72 · 10/08/2021 09:38

cf's ..who would think its ok to even think about doing this?

mynameisbrian · 10/08/2021 09:44

can you check with neighbours if they know whose it is?

DaniellaDavis · 10/08/2021 09:49

Just knock on your neighbours doors to see if it belongs to anyone?

At our old place we allowed our neighbours to use our driveway if we were away, and they would do the same also.

Don't always go to the negative!
