Caravan on driveway

kelpie35 · 02/08/2021 16:56

I have just returned home to find a caravan parked on my driveway.
I have been away for 5 days visiting my son.
Can someone advise me what I can do to get it removed. I have no idea who it belongs to.

@WindowsSmindows

Sixes and eights So there whole point of your story is that somebody parked for a few minutes on your drive so they could have a quick chat with your neighbour? Why were you such an unreasonable neighbour? We're you not embarrassed? Jesus it's great to have lovely normal friendly neighbours who might wave at me if they saw me grabbing a chat with a friend.
Where do you get either "a few minutes" or the alleged quick chat from?
kelpie35 · 03/08/2021 09:55

Well I did phone 101. They said it was nothing to do with them. Advised me to phone the Council.

So as at present I am awaiting a reply from them, but do not hold out for a speed reply.

Perhaps if you reported a stolen caravan on your driveway the police might show more interest?

81Byerley · 03/08/2021 10:59

It may be a mistake. My son services caravans and camper vans, and often takes them from storage to clients homes, or delivers caravans that customers have bought. I can imagine a scenario where somebody like him could get the wrong house by accident!

Berthatydfil · 03/08/2021 11:16

I posted above but it was ignored.
Try contacting Cris and quote the cris number which should be etched on the windows- they should be able to trace/ contact the owner.

Berthatydfil · 03/08/2021 11:18

Cris will probably also know if it’s been reported stolen

PolytheneRam · 03/08/2021 16:16

Was this resolved?

What ? And get no signature or proof of receipt ?
pollymere · 03/08/2021 17:52

I'd advertise it on a local FB group or selling page. It's amazing how quickly people claim things. You could also gently push it off your property...

lastcall · 03/08/2021 17:53

Put a 24 hour warning it will be removed notice on it... and then have it towed?

mumsterplus1 · 03/08/2021 17:53

I would tApe a big ‘ free to collector ‘ sign on it, and if not gone in a week contact a scrap yard x

CtrlU · 03/08/2021 17:57

I don’t bloody believe the nerve of some people!!

TORCH IT! 😈

CHIShandler · 03/08/2021 18:06

Amazed anyone thinks it has become the OP's property just because it's on her land; it's not a plucking pheasant!

calvados · 03/08/2021 18:10

Im with this👆

CMOTDibbler · 03/08/2021 18:15

I could actually believe the accidental delivery - dh bought a car from a dealership in April and they delivered it to the wrong address. Just parked it and put the keys through the letterbox! Fortunatly our neighbours are honest and gave us the keys

LoverOfAllThingsPurple · 03/08/2021 18:16

I’d get it towed!!! What a cheek!!!

honeybuns007 · 03/08/2021 18:47

Can it be pushed? Push it onto the road. Then call the council and tell them there is a caravan on the road

cherish123 · 03/08/2021 18:48

Call police or get it towed. Meanwhile, block it in.

No don't do that 🤣
1forAll74 · 03/08/2021 18:57

Have you checked to see if anyone is inside it,, dead or alive. ! It could be full of some suspect stuff that's been dumped there, somewhere where the police would not usually look for anything..

I see from TV ADS. that you can get a car or whatever, delivered to your home now, have you forgotten that you ordered a caravan ?

AddressLabel · 03/08/2021 19:00

My car has a tow bar so I’d be scoping out the street to make sure my neighbours have no cameras, and then towing it onto a road somewhere in the dead of night and then denying all knowledge.

yesiamgoingtoeatthat · 03/08/2021 19:03

The police won't touch it unfortunately, because it's on private land. Having been in a slightly similar situation recently this can be a real pain. I would definitely start with asking around the neighbours, local FB and contacting CRIS. The ID number is often on the window. Data protection means CRIS won't share the owner details with you but - as someone suggested - you could tell them you think a stolen caravan has been abandoned there and they might contact the owner on your behalf.

Nat6999 · 03/08/2021 19:26

Look on Auto trader for a similar caravan & stick a for sale notice on it, block it in so nobody can take it during the night. Does it have a dealership sticker in the window? If it does ring their number in case it has been incorrectly delivered.

debwong · 03/08/2021 19:38

Is there anyone inside it?

WetBench · 03/08/2021 20:02

People are crazy!
Good advice about the CRIS thing, hope they’ll contact the owners of you say you’re worried it’s stolen
