Our old clomid thread is no longer allowing new comments, and it's taken me 24 hours and multiple failed comments to understand why - we filled it up So thought I'd start a new one...

@BinkyB4 I started the day after ovulation for 14 days, and I took it at night. Do you have pessaries? I was fine until about day 9, then I got pretty sore. That seemed to pass though. I'm now very itchy! Do you need to keep taking it for 12 weeks of you get a bfp?

AF is now a day late and I'm still getting bfns. I'm pretty sure it's the progesterone that's stopping AF. I'm pretty pissed off that it seems to be messing up my cycle. I'm supposed to keep taking it for the next 5 days, but stop if another bfn or of AF rocks up. God knows how long that will take! I think I'll ask the clinic for an appointment to review, as this doesn't seem right.

BinkyB4 · 31/08/2019 14:09

Yes they are giving me the pessaries.
I’ve got another scan on the 9th which is day 11 and then will have the trigger shot then if they can do it, or go back a couple of days later for it and then start the pessaries......2 a day.....is that you have to do?
They haven’t said about continuing talking it if I get a BFP......feels like a BFP is a million miles away to even think about yet.....

PrimroseH · 31/08/2019 14:31

@Rinoa I've just ordered my Inofolic! The research looks very good! How are you finding it so far?

ClomidCarrow · 31/08/2019 14:44

@BinkyB4 no, mine's one a day. It's called Crinone 8%. It sounds like you're getting a decent amount of monitoring and support!

I know what you mean about the bfp! It seems further away then ever for me today.

BinkyB4 · 31/08/2019 15:39

@ClomidCarrow today was the first time I actually felt as though I have been listened to properly in the last 18 months and that someone was addressing the issue of my low progesterone/short luteal phase. I had a little cry because It finally left as though I was getting somewhere.
.....go back a couple of days tho and I was rock bottom again after getting my blood results back. It’s such a rollercoaster of emotions.
She told me to do a pregnancy test today too, which I have to do before starting my clomid tonight......not looking forward to that because it’s so depressing.

Rinoa · 31/08/2019 18:02

@PrimroseH started first dose this morning. Doesn't taste like anything and nothing so far. It says there is zero side effects so u shouldn't have a prob either !

ClomidCarrow · 01/09/2019 09:39

@BinkyB4 how short is your LP usually? If your experience is anything like mine then the progesterone will definitely lengthen your LP, which is great news.

It's not so great news for me because my LP was already 15 days. AF is now 3 days late. I decided to not take any more progesterone, despite Dr saying to continue it for an extra week if no bfp/AF. I know my body and I know I'm not pregnant. I have zero symptoms and a bfn at 16dpo. It's so frustrating. I just want to get on with round 2.

BinkyB4 · 01/09/2019 16:23

@ClomidCarrow my LP is usually about 9 days but it’s been as short as 7, so I’m really hoping that these progesterone pessaries lengthen my cycle.
Why has your doctor prescribed it for so long? Just incase you got your bfp?
I wonder if I did get my bfp they would prescribe it me for a few months?

Jemstar33 · 01/09/2019 22:12

Hope everyone’s doing good

I took my last clomid tablet today for this cycle. I’ve had the worst bloat all week so I’m hoping things improve. Started opks yesterday in case of early ovulation.

Fingers crossed for everyone

Marmite83 · 02/09/2019 12:53

Hi @ClomidCarrow and @BinkyB4. I'm not on Clomid anymore but I do now have quite a bit of experience with the Progesterone meds so thought I'd share my experience in case it helps at all. When I attended my private IVF clinic, my consultant prescribed me Cyclogest pessaries (2 a day). He did it specifically to delay AF by a week. It doesn't work for everyone but it certainly did for me. AF arrived 3 days after I stopped taking it, I was told 3-4 days is pretty standard. I was then prescribed Cyclogest again to start on egg collection day. Once I had my bfp (hooray!) they checked my progesterone level and prescribed 2 x Crinone 8% a day as well as it was a little lower than they would have liked. I have been told I need to take both, twice a day, until week 10 and then can go back to just Cyclogest for the last two weeks. Not sure if this is just because I went down the IVF route or it's routinely a good idea. Did they advise you to 'clear out' the Crinone 8% every few days @ClomidCarrow. Not pleasant!

@PrimroseH and @Rinoa, I've been taking Inofolic for about 7 months now, it tastes a little like powdered sugar to me. I pour it straight onto my tongue and then swallow with water (I'm not a fan of soluble meds and was advised this would be fine). No idea if it's helped at all internally, I haven't noticed anything externally, but I plan to keep taking it for now.

Got everything crossed for you @Jemstar33, hope the bloat dies down for you.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!

Jemstar33 · 02/09/2019 13:44

Thanks @marmite83 how are you doing? Hope baby is doing well x

Marmite83 · 02/09/2019 13:48

@Jemstar33, we saw a little heartbeat on Friday which was lovely. I still don't have much in the way of symptoms which is worrying me a little as it was the same with my mmc but I'm trying my best to stay positive. I have another scan on 13th so keeping everything crossed until then.

Jemstar33 · 02/09/2019 13:54

How lovely @marmite83 I bet you’re over the moon! Stay positive, everyone is different and we’re all guilty of comparing ourselves to others. Not long to wait until you see baby again! Are you going to find out what you’re having?

Marmite83 · 02/09/2019 14:01

Not sure about finding out the gender @Jemstar33, we didn't with my dd. I haven't really thought about it. Don't think we'll discuss it until we hopefully get to 12 weeks and feel a little more confident. Currently 6+6 so we've got a few weeks to go yet.

Jemstar33 · 02/09/2019 15:38

Wow, I didn’t think you’d be able to see a heartbeat so soon, that’s brilliant @Marmite83. Wishing you the best of luck for the next few weeks. I bet the days are dragging!

Marmite83 · 02/09/2019 15:52

Thanks @Jemstar33, the days are definitely dragging!

ClomidCarrow · 02/09/2019 17:31

@Marmite83 Oh god! How do I "clear it out"?? That's made me laugh today, so thank you for that! Grin Tbf, I can absolutely see why you need to "clear it out". I've been letting it work its way out naturally and it's not pleasant!

Thank you v much for sharing - that's really helpful. The progesterone definitely delayed AF by about 3 days, and given that I had a bfn at 16dpo then that was a bit frustrating. I'm glad I didn't continue it for another week, but I'm happy to take it again on the next cycle because I do think it will help keep my lining stable for longer if I do (fingers crossed) conceive.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! That's wonderful news and I wish you lots of luck.

Fingers crossed for you @Jemstar33

Marmite83 · 02/09/2019 20:57

Always happy to entertain @ClomidCarrow Grin. I essentially use a couple of fingers in a sweeping motion to remove any clumps, then I only ever get very small lumps work their own way out (apologies to everyone else on the thread).

Rinoa · 02/09/2019 21:19

@Marmite83 how exciting hearing the heart beat! Lots of blessings your way ! Don't worry I don't think any ladies here are grossed about any bodily fluids haha

Rinoa · 02/09/2019 21:24

So I'm on CD46 and starting to feel light cramps and light dark bleeding. If this turns out to be full out AF it's the earliest I've had it on my own ever since I can remember ! Average is about 62 days. Not sure if it's the Inofolic or my weight loss either way I'm stoked. If I wake up bleeding tomorrow it'll be CD1 and can start Clomid CD2-6! Eeeek!

Jemstar33 · 02/09/2019 22:15

That’s great @Rinoa good luck for tomorrow!

CoffeeTables · 03/09/2019 08:30

Hi everyone! Hope you're all well. :) I'm on day 19 and just starting the two week wait for cycle 3. I did a pregnyl shot this morning, and have to do another one on Friday too.

I've been reading through the thread to catch up. @Marmite83 - how lovely to hear a heartbeat! @Jemstar33 - fingers crossed for you this cycle. Fingers crossed for everyone actually! This process is so draining.

BinkyB4 · 03/09/2019 08:35

@Marmite83 congratulations on your bfp and thank you for the advice re the progesterone.....and I had a titter about having to 'clear it out!' -Wont be laughing when I'm having to do that though!!
Did you have a short LP/low progesterone or was it because you were doing IVF?
I'm going to see if I can have another 21(ish!) day blood test and see if my progesterone level has improved once I have been on the pessaries for a bit.
The doctor I saw on Saturday also said that the trigger shot (that I am having this time) also increases progesterone so I'm really hoping that I have normal levels this time!

@Rinoa good luck!

Marmite83 · 03/09/2019 08:43

@BinkyB4 my day 21 blood tests were always fine so I think it's purely because of the IVF and what the drugs do to your body. Fingers crossed the trigger shot helps with your progesterone levels.

ClomidCarrow · 03/09/2019 15:02

@Rinoa Congrats on the shorter cycle! Did AF rock up today? Isn't it mad that most of the time we dread AF arriving, and other times we can't wait for it to come so we can crack on!

I started Clomid again this morning for cycle 2.

Hi @CoffeeTables What is the pregnyl shot? It's fascinating how different all our treatments are. Fingers cross for a speedy TWW for you!
