Our old clomid thread is no longer allowing new comments, and it's taken me 24 hours and multiple failed comments to understand why - we filled it up So thought I'd start a new one...

@seven201, we’re not married yet (that’s part of why I feel like I do). I know we are a family, but it all seems so much more fragile than marriage in my head.

I know that DP doesn’t feel that way, but I can’t help it.

We’ve been engaged since just before DD was born, but DP wanted to wait until we had another baby before planning a wedding.

seven201 · 29/08/2019 12:36

@doomkittycleo oh oops misread dp for dh! The postponed wedding is probably putting even more pressure on. Life is so hard sometimes.

Hi guys,

I hope it’s ok if I join this thread. This journey is really lonely and just wanted to know other peoples experiences.

I’m 29 years old with PCOS, my DH has abnormal sperm morphology on his first semen analysis. Not sure what this means?

We have been referred to community gynaecology and have my first appointment next week. It feels like forever!

I’m keen to start clomid as my cycles are very irregular and don’t think I’ve been ovulating.

From others experience how quickly were you prescribed clomid after seeing the consultant? Are there other test that need to be done first?

Sorry I just feel so alone and all my friends are pregnant and have conceived naturally. I’m starting to feel really downhearted 😔

seven201 · 29/08/2019 21:19

@PrimroseH have you had lots of blood tests? Particularly ones that had to be down right at the start of your cycle and one on day 21 (or 7 days before when you think your period will arrive)? If you've got all those results (gp did mine before she'd refer me) when you see the consultant they may well refer then and there if the tests and your symptoms indicate clomid may help. If I were you I'd start taking not-insotol (inofolic or other brand) as it can help to regulate cycles/ovulation.

Don't know much about semen analysis - I do know it can sometimes be improved by supplements/diet and lifestyle changes. My friends husbands results improved quite a lot by making changes.

seven201 · 29/08/2019 21:20

I meant prescribe not refer!

PrimroseH · 29/08/2019 21:37

@seven201 thanks so much for your advice! I've had an USS scan and had all my day 7 bloods including FSH/LH before the GP could refer me. So I'm hoping when I see the gynaecologist it's straight forward. Although it is a community gynaecologist so they may want to refer me on to the fertility team. I'm not sure if the community team can give clomid?

Thanks for the advice on Inositol. I will defo look into it! How long do you take it for? Are you supposed to stop once you have conceived?

seven201 · 29/08/2019 22:24

We don't have the same set-up where I am - no community team, just a 3 months ish wait to see a gynaecologist. With the inositol - you take every day. The one I buy is 2 tablets twice a day (myo-ova from amazon). No idea if you're meant to stop when pregnant.

Jemstar33 · 29/08/2019 22:31

Welcome @PrimroseH

@seven201 how are feeling, are you still set to POAS tomorrow? Everything crossed for you 🤞🏽🙏🏼

seven201 · 29/08/2019 22:37

@Jemstar33 aww thanks for remembering! I don't want to pee on a stick but I do want a guilt free drink or 5 so am going to do it! I don't know for sure when I ovulated, so I might be a bit early anyway.

How are you?

Jemstar33 · 30/08/2019 06:30

@seven201 😃. Even if it’s too early, you’re doing the right thing to check. Keep us updated!

I’m good, day 3 of clomid today.
Feeling tired, bloated with headaches and hot sweats, delightful.
At least it’s friday 🥳🥳

Rinoa · 30/08/2019 07:09

Welcome @PrimroseH ! I was referred to Clomid a few days ago. I'm on the lower spectrum of pcos and had all bloods , Hycosy and DH had SA. I was only referred to a fertility clinic after my bmi was 30 or under so it took a few months for that. So I'd say it took about 6 months or so with all the wait times. It may be different for you with the results of SA they may just recommend lifestyle changes or go straight to Clomid and maybe even ivf. Not sure best to make a list to talk to the docs about!

seven201 · 30/08/2019 08:18

Negative and I can feel aunt flow on her way soon the bitch

@Jemstar33 so you're good with all those yucky clomid symptoms Grin

Jemstar33 · 30/08/2019 08:44

Aww @seven201 I’m gutted for you 😫 Enjoy your many many drinks tonight. It’s so shit!!!

Haha yes, I stayed really positive last time and it helped. I know it sounds really cliche and I don’t consider myself an overly positive person but what’s the alternative! 20 months and counting which isn’t a long time compared to others but it’s a long time to be miserable and negative.
And even though the side effects are annoying they’re insignificant if it means a baby.

seven201 · 30/08/2019 09:07

@Jemstar33 good for you. I'm trying to be more positive about it too. I've also been trying for 20 long months.

PrimroseH · 30/08/2019 10:23

@seven201 sorry it was a negative! I'm sure it is frustrating! Me and my DH tell ourselves that our kids will know how much we wanted them because of the struggle!

@Rinoa yes I think the SA may throw a spanner in the works, I'm not sure if I will need a HYCosy or not before clomid. The waiting is so hard! Counting down the days until next week for my appointment!

BinkyB4 · 30/08/2019 10:29

Welcome @PrimroseH!

@Jemstar33 think I need a bit of your positive attitude too! After everything we have been trough it’s hard and finding out that I hadn’t ovulated on th clomid, felt like such a kick in th teeth!

Has anyone had th trigger shot to force ovulation while on clomid?

Jemstar33 · 30/08/2019 10:45

@PrimroseH that’s a lovely way to think of it

@binkyb4 it’s different for everyone and I suppose I’m more positive because I got pregnant on my first round of clomid, although it ended in mc. Maybe if I don’t get pregnant this time around all my positivity will be gone 😂 hope not!

I haven’t had the shot. There’s a real mix of the clomid prescription, I’m not even being monitored with scans etc.

ClomidCarrow · 30/08/2019 10:46

Welcome @PrimroseH

Sorry to hear about your bfn @seven201

Yesterday was my OTD and I got yet another bfn. I knew it. I had a bit of a dilemma with my progesterone though. Doc said to take a test at 14dpo and if negative, take it for another week and then stop if another bfn or if AF arrived. But my LP is 15 days, not 14 so wasn't sure whether I should take it last night. I decided not to, because it's not pleasant! And I figured if I got a bfn at 14dpo then I'm out.

AF should have arrived this morning, but hasn't. I'm now starting to get cramps so think she will be arriving today. I will then have the dilemma as to whether to count today as CD1 or tomorrow. I guess it depends what time she shows up. On to round 2!

Is anyone else taking progesterone?

@BinkyB4 Nope, no trigger shot for me. I don't know how they decide that you need one. Are you having it?

BinkyB4 · 30/08/2019 16:54

God I find deciding which day is day one really difficult because my periods are so light these days.....I’m going with today as day one and have a scan tomorrow at 9am.

Yes @ClomidCarrow I’m having the trigger shot this time as my bloods showed that although everything looked good on my day 10 follicle tracking, I didn’t actually ovulate so trying that this time.
Fingers crossed!!

Rinoa · 30/08/2019 19:48

Look what arrived today! Actually came very fast! Next day delivery.

Has anyone encountered any side effects from this ?

Rinoa · 30/08/2019 19:50

@BinkyB4 best to trust your gut with that ! Guessing periods is so difficult, Miss the days when it just came and went lol

Jemstar33 · 30/08/2019 20:40

@clomidcarrow Day 1 is the first day you wake up bleeding so if your period starts throughout the day today, tomorrow is day 1. That’s what my doc says. I started spotting on Monday night but woke up bleeding on Tuesday so took my

Jemstar33 · 30/08/2019 20:40

First pill on Wednesday

Sorry pressed post too early!

ClomidCarrow · 30/08/2019 21:29

@Jemstar33 That makes sense.

Still no sign of AF so I have no idea what's going on. I think it's the progesterone that's mucking everything up, but I'm going to follow the doctor's instructions and restart the progesterone again tonight. He said take it for another 7 days, then if no AF or bfp then to stop. I keep thinking about those stories of women who don't get a bfp until long after a missed period. I know that I'd utter wishful thinking!

I'm going to be annoyed if this treatment lengthens my cycles.

BinkyB4 · 31/08/2019 11:18

@ClomidCarrow I’ve just had my scan and been prescribed progesterone from 4 days after my trigger shot for 12 days.....how long and when do you have to take yours?
I’m so pleased I’m getting it.
