interesting blog post from a mother of a DS daughter who was blasted by a 5-10 minute diatribe containing all the old stereotypes about people with DS at a Frakie Boyle show. I'm turning off any TV show he's on in future.

saying it on a stage under a persona (or online) does not take away the reality of the cruelty. If you wouldn't say it to the face of someone with that disability otr their aprents in a park on a Saturday morning, don't say it to hundreds of people on a stage who think youa re fab / don't laugh at it in a way that reinforces otehr peopels notions that it is OK to think like that

Becvuase thats what laughing at bigoted jokes does isn't it? It reinforces the idea of everyone else that it's an acceptable way to think.

2shoes....stabbing someone in the back is talking about them off board, you know, via msn/email....that kinda thing...while pretending you really like them on MN.....

Talking about men on MN..(and I didn't name any man in particular)...is not stabbing someone in the back....it is there for them and everyone to see...

I have spoken to BGD loads of times since then anyway...he is fine with me.....he has a sense of humour.....you should have bought yourself one at the shops...

Haven't got the time to read the whole thread but read both of your originally linked articles and think the mother is incredible. Huge respect to her well written blog and I hope Frankie gets plenty of backlash about it. Totally inappropriate jokes and unnecessary. A good comedian should be able to find plenty of content for their live shows without stooping to that low level IMO.
