Frankie Boyle on Down Syndrome - horrific

interesting blog post from a mother of a DS daughter who was blasted by a 5-10 minute diatribe containing all the old stereotypes about people with DS at a Frakie Boyle show. I'm turning off any TV show he's on in future.

blog here

Grauniad article on it here

frankie boyle is a nob

BessieBoots · 08/04/2010 18:54

Frankie Boyle is an absolute prick.

SuSylvester · 08/04/2010 18:55

how interesting

stillenacht · 08/04/2010 18:56

What a prick! I am a mum of a child with low functioning autism. I know they have laughed at autism before on Mock the Week. Idiots. They do like to 'try' to be controversial . Problem is, I find some of Mock the Week and indeed, Frankie Boyle, very funny.I think he will swallow himself up in his own 'caustic humour' sooner or later.

paisleyleaf · 08/04/2010 18:58

I don't know why she was so surprised, she says she's seen him on TV.
His attitudes are unlikable. He reminds me of Jim Davidson's humour.
He is a nob.

SuSylvester · 08/04/2010 18:58

i dont like him or carr
both twats

Batteryhuman · 08/04/2010 19:00

A very well written and heartfelt blog. I hope it gets picked up by other media. Frankie Boyle should be ashamed of himself. As the parent of a child with SN it is "humour" like this that makes me fear for my DS.

MrsForHowLong · 08/04/2010 19:01

I think he's very funny but very misguided this time, he's an offensive comic which is, in the main, why he's so funny. He talks about things most wouldn't dare, but people with DS aren't really fair game like Kerry Katona....

2shoes · 08/04/2010 19:01

what a total toss pot

Lymond · 08/04/2010 19:04

DH thinks he's very funny but we have a good friend with DS (whose wedding we are attending in a few months!) and I know this will put him off for once and all.

God - you'd have thought he'd have just apologised to look less twat like.

I also like Carr - always comes across as horrid.

Hassled · 08/04/2010 19:10

Yes, he's a twat. Usually a funny twat, but comedians with that "look at me being really offensive, aren't I funny, if you disagree then that's because you're a moron" attitude really hack me off. I saw Jimmy Carr last year - his jokes on domestic violence were fucking hilarious .

morningpaper · 08/04/2010 19:12

very stupid for a supposedly clever man

the mum sounds lovely

Meant I hate Carr.

Agree the mother comes across really well indeed - can just imagine how mortified and upset she felt.

What an utter prick, I will certainly turn off anything he is on. And to try and justify, telling the parents whom have just told them he has upset him 'that it's all true anyway' utter utter prat.

I read the mothers blog post, she sounds really love and so very calm good on her for keeping her cool when she must have felt so raw.

nighbynight · 08/04/2010 19:22

Well I have never heard of Frankie Boyle, but the mother in the blog came across as intelligent and articulate, and her dd's gorgeous.

What an articulate woman - her response is so measured. I feel bad for her that she feels that she didn't do her daughter justice. I hope she'll take to heart the comments others have written on her blog, and that it will help to have written it all down.

Oh yes, and he's an idiot. I bet his skin crawls every time he thinks about what a fool he made of himself.

hormonesnomore · 08/04/2010 19:38

Good for the mum to stand up to him.

How could the audience laugh at his 'jokes' after learning how upset she was? They were prize nobs and he's an unfeeling bastard.

hmc · 08/04/2010 19:42

I'm a Mike Mcintyre fan myself - safe and inoffensive. What a lovely photo of a delightful child on the mum's blog

stillenacht · 08/04/2010 19:45

hormonesnomore - I agree.

Good for you girl - I would have done exactly the same thing if I had been there and he had started going on about autism.

Can't believe channel 4 were going to comission him to do a programme entitled "Deal with this retards"

Getting more angry and more upset the more I think about all this.

Goodbye Mr Boyle - I won't watch you again.

cuddlysoutheastastra · 08/04/2010 19:46

what a prick, honestly i am getting fed up with these self important arseholes and their witterings. why people pay to hear them is beyond me.

dawntigga · 08/04/2010 19:48

Frankie Boyle, for example, is a twat.
