Absolutely shocking attack at the Heaton Park Synagogue in Crumpsall North Manchester. My heart goes out to all those hurt and affected by this terrible atrocity.

antisemitism has been allowed by our very own prime minster, those awful marches in London where the “free palestine” “queers for palestine” crowd don’t even bother to disguise their hate of Jews. There will be more attacks in future because, as David Baddiel said, Jews don’t count.

Exactly this.
Antisemitism has been emboldened, encouraged, and rewarded.
And now we're the hollow hand wringing over the inevitable stage. Fucking nauseating.

I’m not sure it’s religion as such, more religious men. You don’t seem to get any of these issues whatsoever with any religious women?

There have been female terrorists in very recent years.

Point scoring!?

The authorities have allowed openly anti-Semitic marches to take place regularly on our streets for months and months.

It would be highly irresponsible not to have realised that this appalling attack might be the result. There is nothing political about that

No different from Orange Walks either. Shoving it in people's faces, it could be argued (I am not religious so no skin in the game on this front).

Anyway sad for those involved. Devastating news.

Not the time for political point scoring.

Sadly, our country is full of hatred from many sides, fuelled by the media. So much for our British Values of tolerance and respect for others beliefs.

Edited

Surely you’ve misunderstood that poster. It wasn’t point scoring.

Because most religions keep women in their places... at home making babies.

No, I haven't - sorry I thought you were referring to an image of shocked bystanders. This is obviously a different one, thanks

Fair enough - it's the problem with fast moving online news and media.

I am not often shocked but the video was utterly disturbing, and don't be mistaken I am not talking about the terrorist who has thankfully been put out of his misery.

The security people / police shouted at pedestrians to move away as there is a bomb and no-one moved, they all stayed and gaped and filmed.

If they weren't afraid of a bomb, they should have helped the poor man drying on the pavement. Instead they jeered and made the situation worse.

Not racism.

Antisemitism.

Racism, antisemitism. Hatred of all types finds its own level. This is the huge problem we face . Whatever people believe about possible motives the fact is that hatred and resentment is so widespread that it filters down and will eventually affect every single one of us. I don’t know what the answer is or if there is one but we are really at crisis point.

Sienna61 · 02/10/2025 12:40

Blood on Starmer’s hands along with everyone who participated in or supported the anti-Semitic marches.

Labour have perpetuated a climate of hate against Jewish people. It’s disgusting.

The only thing guaranteed in this life is the absolute cruelty of some people.

My heart goes out to the community there and hopefully these injuries remain just that 😔 xx

This is sadly very true.

What has occurred today is absolutely tragic and my heart goes out to everyone affected.

clipboardz · 02/10/2025 12:41

They ‘don’t agree with it, but Palestine…’

There is always a but!

Nowhere near as many? And I would imagine a lot acting against their wishes

PurpleThistle7 · 02/10/2025 12:42

I'm Jewish. Can't stop crying. Scared all the time and really, really scared for my kids. As the only Jewish children in their schools they are visible and my daughter has been harassed twice so far - once badly enough for the police to be involved as it got physical.

My dad's synagogue had a mass shooting several years ago and he lost several friends. He was 5 minutes away as he was running a bit late that morning. He easily could have been a victim. This is bringing all that back.

SocksShmocks · 02/10/2025 12:42

Followthattaxi · 02/10/2025 12:36

I'm Jewish. There's always tight security at our synagogue (In London) and often police too on high holy days. We received an email detailing extra security this year and made a conscious decision not to attend the services this year.

I was approached by someone demanding my opinion on Gaza when I came out of a kosher butcher a few weeks ago.

It's frightening to be Jewish in the UK at the moment and I can't believe 2 people have been murdered simply for attending a religious service.

I’m so sorry. We live near a synagogue and I see the security and have wondered how much it’s actually needed and today’s attack is terrible terrible evidence that is needed.

My heart goes out to the victims of this attack and to Jewish people who will be feeling frightened.

MrsEmmelineLucas · 02/10/2025 12:17

It's a free country. You'd ban religion?
These people were doing nothing wrong, at all, just attending religious worship. The problem is that someone was so filled with hate, he would kill them for that.

Edited

I don't think we can ban religion - but I think it's dangerous to think 'my god is better than your god'. Most wars are started over religion. Women are oppressed due to religion.
Not a big fan tbh.

Livelovebehappy · 02/10/2025 12:32

Apologies. I read it entirely different as you said in the same sentence that people were shouting demanding the police shoot the perpetrator who had also been shot by the police lying on the ground.

No problem. Thank you. I feel very upset about the events of this morning. I am also sorry for my unfriendly post back.

I am gutted for the families and community of the victims. I hope against all hope that they will never see the horrendous way a man was left to die.

Yes, it's a fast moving story, and some reports coming out are very confusing.
Hopefully it will all be clear soon.

StarlightRobot · 02/10/2025 12:44

Is anything known about the attacker? Was he acting alone? Did he have a bomb?

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 02/10/2025 12:44

Nestingbirds · 02/10/2025 12:20

You don’t go and try and murder innocent people just because another country’s leader has made decisions that are nothing to do with the people in Manchester or our country for that matter!! Don’t shift the blame. The blame lies entirely with the deluded psychopath that chose to harm innocent people.

Well said.

Fair enough, that's your opinion, you're free to express it. I just think that people should be allowed to worship in peace, as long as they're not harming others.

Not the best time for this. The people didn’t think anything like this, other than to attend a solemn day of prayer.

Hard to say how many but as most come from extremely misogynistic branches of their faith, I think the women tend not to be in the 'front facing' parts of terrorism.

Don't get me wrong - I do believe it's mostly a male problem.

Horrible and cruel. My heart goes out to the victims and all the Jews in the UK celebrating Yom Kippur. 💐

ParmaVioletTea · 02/10/2025 12:47

Jew hatred again. That's why we need Israel as a country of sanctuary.

And posters blaming the victims can eff off with their Jew hatred.
