I assumed the poor man on the ground was dead? I can’t believe no one would help him if he wasn’t 😢

I knew it wouldn’t take five fucking minutes for someone to blame Israel.

But i've seen it on here numerous times, for some reason only Jewish people are to blame for the actions of their government. I've always argued that's not right when you look at what our government has done in the past.

Yes Ive said the same and been shouted down. Im not Jewish but the hypocrisy when people compare poor Gazans who are in no way responsible or answerable to what Hamas did, compared to evil Israelis and Jews that dont even live in Israel as being open targets for blame for what their government is doing

Its one or the other isnt it.

I'm Jewish. Can't stop crying. Scared all the time and really, really scared for my kids. As the only Jewish children in their schools they are visible and my daughter has been harassed twice so far - once badly enough for the police to be involved as it got physical.

My dad's synagogue had a mass shooting several years ago and he lost several friends. He was 5 minutes away as he was running a bit late that morning. He easily could have been a victim. This is bringing all that back.

I am so sorry that you are doing through this. I know that it must be deeply shocking. Pleased be assured by the support that you have got from the people on here, and society at large.
I know that it maybe won't feel like it now, so I hope that you have loved ones around you today. 💐

Blood on Starmer’s hands along with everyone who participated in or supported the anti-Semitic marches.

Labour have perpetuated a climate of hate against Jewish people. It’s disgusting.

anti-Semitic marches.

The attack this morning on the synagogue is absolutely deplorable.

Please don't conflate antisemitism and politics. People have the absolute right to march against the genocide happening before our eyes in Gaza by Israel policies and the UK government being complicit. This is not antisemitism.

Unfinishedkitchn · 02/10/2025 12:49

Terrible news today.

Condolences to all those affected. Nobody deserves to be persecuted in our free country because of their religion or ethnicity.

Nestingbirds · 02/10/2025 12:50

You don’t get air time for more hate on here.

Yep, though sadly in the world there will always be people who see the actions of an individual, group or government as justification for harming everybody else associated with them, whether in reality or by assumption. Wrong whoever it’s directed towards.

Uggbootsforever · 02/10/2025 12:52

Perhaps now all the Palestine march thickos will pause to reflect on the cost of stoking tensions and whipping up an antisemitic frenzy to show how very left wing they are (they won’t, though).

Perhaps they’ll pause and consider Hamas, who would do the exact same thing to them given the opportunity, on account of being a Westerner and therefore ‘complicit in genocide’. Wouldn’t matter whether you marched or not. They wouldn’t spare you and they wouldn’t care.

Perhaps they’ll pause to consider why after 9/11 they immediately jumped to ‘not all Muslims’, yet afford zero of this to Jews, who ‘while I disagree with it, Netanyahu…’

Maybe they’ll pause to consider the last time a Jew carried out a terror attack in the UK, which is… never.

They won’t. The watermelons, and flag waving, and ‘river to the sea’ bollox will continue. I don’t even think they want a ceasefire, they want to continue feeling righteous and part of some kind of morally superior movement. The antisemitism will continue and each and every incident will be ‘well I don’t agree with it, but Netanyahu..’

Reprehensible. I’m banking on a 24 hour pause on social media posts then it starts up again. And this will never again be mentioned by Corbyn, Sultana, or the rest of their ugly mob

AgnesMcDoo · 02/10/2025 12:52

Its truly horrible and very sad.

spiderlight · 02/10/2025 12:52

Heartbreaking. It's my friend's home synagogue, although she doesn't live in the area any more. She's so upset. My heart goes out to everyone affected, directly and indirectly.

FlumpUp · 02/10/2025 12:53

I assume people aren't helping the poor man on the floor because henis clearly dead already and they know this :(

I'm sure before the footage started someone went over to him to help and saw he was already gone so they are focusing on the man with the bomb vest!

Sure. Political marches =/= pogroms.

BUT... they also bring out the worst people. And encourage them. It's not totally unrelated. I'm not saying everyone marching is a terrible bigot but also it's not no one. Some of the chants, the signs, the aftermath... it certainly veers in a horrible direction and is deeply unpleasant to be around. I have stopped working in my office on march days and avoid going into town on march days to protect my children after seeing some signs that made me cry. They're planning a mass rally in my city on Tuesday to 'celebrate' the anniversary of the massacre and I am just staying home for the day. At this point I might keep my kids home with me as well.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/10/2025 12:54

I’m afraid that there was always an undercurrent of anti-semitism in the U.K., which has almost been legitimised in some eyes by the events in Gaza, and has even to some people, become (although I hate to use the word) ‘fashionable’.

Nutmuncher · 02/10/2025 12:55

Absolutely horrendous. It’s frightening knowing these evil ghouls walk freely amongst us.

You should not have to live like this.

Maybe now you won’t have to, after this atrocity no one can say it isn’t an issue. It is a pressing issue. This country is a welcoming place and one that cares about your safety, just a few rotten apples thankfully in the minority.

I hope you and your family will feel safer soon, the police are likely to clamp down now. It should have happened before a tragedy took place.

NotsoLovinLefties · 02/10/2025 12:55

VerityUnreasonble · 02/10/2025 12:22

It's close to the Jewish high school too, although that will have been closed today. Just terrifying for so many families.

Thank God it was shut, it doesn’t bear thinking about how worse it could’ve been.

I can't help but think the Free Palestine rhetoric has empowered this. It's all we seem to hear about. What the about the masses of Christians being slaughtered by Islamic terrorists in Africa?

There have been calls for his against jews and Christians.
Yet people keep supporting Islam

I just can't understand why everyone is so poplarised these days and full of hate. The videros are doing the rounds at my workplace. Everyone is working themselves up. Having a go at me because I don't want to watch them Of the little i did see, why on earth were people standing filming that close to someone with a bomb and just watching that victim bleed out.

I have a huge amount of sympathy for the Palestinian people. I consider both Hamas and the Israeli government to be terrorists. I separate the Palestinian people and Israeli/jewish people from those organisations. But it appears that most can;t seem to do this and accusations and extremism abounds.

which causes horrendous acts like this.

MookieCat · 02/10/2025 12:57

I am Jewish and the only people in my life who know this are my husband, our children and a very few Jewish friends. I never speak of it, or reference it, and even my closest friend I have here in the UK does not know I am Jewish.

That's the reality of a great many of Jews nowadays. You hide it. Anti-semitism has always been there, but in the past 2 years all the anti-semites have come crawling out from under their rocks.

I am due to attend a private breaking of the fast tonight with a few other friends in our very small rural Jewish community. Two of whom are from the Manchester community originally. It's heart-breaking.

This is what happens when anti semitism is normalised which it has been by the Left with authorities turning a blind eye.

Exactly this.

Not the time for political point scoring.

Sadly, our country is full of hatred from many sides, fuelled by the media. So much for our British Values of tolerance and respect for others beliefs.

Edited

Are you kidding me? Every single media outlet, influencer, protester repeating propaganda, outright lies, justifications, tropes are completely complicit and to blame for this. Nobody really stands up for Jews, not really. We are in such a minority and Israel is a tiny country, and all the shit I’ve seen and heard these past 2 years dehumanising Jews, using words like Zionist to hide behind, denying antisemitism, outright blatant racism - is horrifying. This attack is exactly how the Holocaust started and the ONLY reason the Germans (and most of Europe) got behind the Nazis to systematically ghettoise and eventually slaughter Jews is the propaganda and dehumanisation of Jewish people. I’m not surprised by what’s happened. Not one Jew is. But I’ll tell you this with absolute conviction: if you think for one moment that this will end with the Jews then you’re wrong. This is absolutely political and the government, media, social media are 100% to blame.

To celebrate the attack by Hamas?? How can this be allowed?

I well remember, just after the Hamas attack, seeing footage of people both here and in Gaza, openly celebrating the attack by Hamas.

You know absolutely nothing about those marches and who is behind them - they are the absolute essence of the conflation of politics and antisemitism! How can people still not be aware of this? Furthermore this thread is not the place for your “Palestine” grandstanding. There are terrified Jewish people posting, who are direct targets and who have lost some of their people today, don’t make them have to endure you airing your ill informed political views as well!
