Civil unrest, what's really going on?

1000 replies

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

Yes there is lots of unrest and protests not reported in mainstream news. Go on tik tok it’s all over there

Livelovebehappy · 04/08/2025 00:09

UYN · 04/08/2025 00:06

There's plenty of UK citizens killing, raping and murdering babies and children, every couple of months another story.

Why does no-one get angry and protest about that?

Because there is nothing we can do about the British born ones, other than letting the British justice system take its course. But we can do something about the immigrants and asylum seekers doing it. By deporting them immediately.

You seem nice, but also fantastically naïve. I wish I could join you in your little bubble.

Same. Somebody said on here earlier ‘why not just tell them rape is illegal here when they arrive?’

Must be nice being born yesterday!

Midnightlove · 04/08/2025 00:07

Really?? I saw it this morning just as it went on there.. also doesn't surprise me.

I’ve just checked, and it’s being reported on ITV’s website, the Independent, the Metro and local newspapers, so it hasn’t been hidden or under-reported.

Watermelonnice · 04/08/2025 00:11

UYN · 04/08/2025 00:02

I'd say it was more of a safety ruling in the interest of national security, for everyone's safety.

Riots damage people, livelihoods and communities.

Now why on earth would the media risk reporting and instigating the ridiculously violent rioting that happened this time last year?? Don't you remember the absolute bellends that came out onto the streets?

I think they are being cautious. For all your sakes.

do you think they should cover up the rape of 12 year olds though?

are you not shocked and appalled by this?

we are sleepwalking into another Rotherham, that happened because of the fear of stoking community tensions

Midnightlove · 04/08/2025 00:11

TheWalkingDead81 · 04/08/2025 00:03

All these crimes which are going unreported, how are you finding out about them?

They are reported, just not by mainstream media.. you'd nearly have to look for them

Fandango52 · 04/08/2025 00:10

I’ve just checked, and it’s being reported on ITV’s website, the Independent, the Metro and local newspapers, so it hasn’t been hidden or under-reported.

It happened on 22nd July

Agapornis · 04/08/2025 00:13

It's funny how 'riots' are always in summer, fuelled by alcohol, hot weather and annual leave/nothing better to do.

I hope it stays rainy.

Midnightlove · 04/08/2025 00:13

Police covering up rape of girl, 12, by asylum seekers, council leader claims
Warwickshire force reportedly told local officials not to reveal suspects’ backgrounds for fear of ‘inflaming community tensions’

it's things like this that people are sick of as well!

Efrogwraig · 04/08/2025 00:13

JamesMacGill · 03/08/2025 19:44

How can you sleep at night? Really?

What do you mean by that?

whatacroc · 04/08/2025 00:15

Richandstrange · 03/08/2025 19:40

To answer your question OP, yes these things are happening and yes the media are purposely not reporting them.

yes a bit like the Rochdale grooming scandal it was all brushed under the carpet and kept low key as not to kick off race riots.
Apparently there was a huge protest near me yesterday that I didn't even know about. it'd be nice to know when these things are going on in our town centres etc so we can avoid for safety reasons if we wish.

saraclara · 04/08/2025 00:15

Brendahollowayreconsider · 03/08/2025 23:35

And you think that none of the protesters have never lifted a hand to a woman or child.
Male violence is an issue in this country.

Apparently over 50% of those arrested at the Stockport demo last year had criminal records for domestic violence.

So I've no time for this 'ordinary people peacefully protesting' rubbish.

dizzydizzydizzy · 03/08/2025 18:52

There are obviously going to be some crimes committed by asylum seekers , partly because some people are criminals and partly because they are living wirh a vast amount of stress, they are vulnerable and desperate. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I didn't have a permanent home and didn't know if I would be allowed to stay in the country. My mental health would probably be terrible.

On the other hand, I would imagine that asylum seekers are often the victims of crime - racist hate, abuse from traffickers, gang masters and dodgy landlords.

I've suffered serious anxiety about immigration status in the past, and if anything it made me extremely keen to follow the law perfectly, for fear of being deported. I certainly didn't feel particularly inclined to stab or rape anyone.

travellinglighter · 04/08/2025 00:17

Showerflowers · 03/08/2025 17:33

there were several peaceful protests in my area over the last few days at hotels that are being used to house asylum seekers. Nothing on the news at all.

a local to me young lady was stabbed to death by a resident outside the asylum seekers hotel that she worked at. She was stabbed multiple times and left to die, wasn’t found for hours. Nothing on the news. Local news did report on it but scantily.

there’s a lot of unrest where I live. I think the press etc are trying not to fan the flames.

You can provide links to that?

Fetaface · 04/08/2025 00:17

AntikytheraMech · 03/08/2025 17:39

There are assaults and molestation happening in multiple cities across the UK at the moment.
Mainstream press don't report it.

At the moment?

There always has been....for hundreds of years.

Oh yes,tik tok. The absolutely reliable news source 🙄

That wasn’t a demo, it was rioting.

Livelovebehappy · 04/08/2025 00:17

Efrogwraig · 04/08/2025 00:13

What do you mean by that?

The poster in question was stupidly justifying crimes committed by asylum seekers by suggesting the poor things had been through so much stress and anxiety. So more or less indicating that we should give them a free pass apparently to rape and murder….so yep, how can someone sleep at night holding such abhorrent views.

coxesorangepippin · 04/08/2025 00:18

We've already sleepwalked into another Rotherham. Let's face it.

God forbid anyone point out the bloody obvious: allowing hordes of young, single men of a different religion that continuously disrespects women isn't a good idea.

And yes the champagne socialists on here bleat on about desperate people, from desperate circumstances: but what about those working class white girls in Rotherham, Oldham etc???? And whilst we're at it, the working class white boys could do with some help too.

Written off. They were, and are still, written off for the sake of someone from an entirely different country and culture.

Or maybe because the summer holidays are when little kids are in large groups going to taylor swift dance events? 🤔

Much of it still has been brushed under the carpet. Muslim, sikh and hindu victims have said they feel ignored and invisible.

They are reported, just not by mainstream media.. you'd nearly have to look for them

So you’re actively looking for stories about immigrant crime, and surprise, you’re finding them, while completely ignoring all the ones that don’t fit the narrative. That’s not uncovering hidden truth, it’s just trawling the internet for stuff to confirm what you’ve already decided. Funny how selective curiosity works.

It's literally a video showing that there were protests... 🤷‍♀️ I'm assuming you were at Stockport and saw the riots with your own eyes then?

JamesMacGill · 04/08/2025 00:20

Efrogwraig · 04/08/2025 00:13

What do you mean by that?

I mean how can someone sleep at night saying kidnapping, strangling and raping children is an understandable outlet for people who are stressed because they decided to illegally break into our country, and what’s more anyone who criticises them is racist. Because to me that’s actually evil.
