Civil unrest, what's really going on?

1000 replies

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

I'm really impressed with posters who still have the energy to deal with all this nonsense that's been posted here.

thanks to @Nchangeo and @JamesMacGill you've made a lot of points that I would've made if I had checked in on the thread of the last couple of days

it's practically unreadable now

My ancestors escaped men from some of the countries where we're welcoming them now. It gives me no pleasure to say that certain countries have a worse misogynistic culture. But there is a scale. I mean, there's stoning to death for Gods sake!

It's horrible for people who have escaped particular backgrounds to find the same situations following them here. In fact, I think that's contributed quite a lot to the gang violence in Sweden? Not claiming to be an expert who has a load of figures.

So being careful about the process of taking in refugees and asylum seekers is essential.

But there's a type of person who always wants to twist it into some sort of crazy prejudice. I think @Nchangeo is spot-on in saying that these sorts of posters should write to the home office and suggest large facilities on their streets. Some people are genuinely fine with it and that's great.

You do need to be a certain age to have say 15 years of experience of living near such accommodation, But for whatever reason, the situation is very different now than it was 15 or 20 years ago.

i'm not gonna check on this thread again. I'm actually surprised it lasted this long before being attacked by bad actors.

You can’t, in other words.

Saucery · 06/08/2025 20:07

Oh, and really, really shit manipulation of statistics that proves zip all. Forgot to add that one, apologies.

If you could answer them, you would. You can’t; so you’re pretending it’s because they’re ’unacceptable questions’. You look very silly indeed.

Posting lots of smileys and frantically detracting from the fact you can’t answer the most basic questions to support your argument won’t work.

Not on anything relevant. I asked some very basic, logical questions and she can’t answer them. Neither will you, or anyone, I suspect.

What are you talking about? That post was not written by me! Please go back to that post again and quote it showing MY username on it! Think you got me mixed up with someone else sorry! But nice try!

It was me 😬😘

Guilty as charged 😂

At the moment no precise data has been kept by police forces in the UK but that’s now changing. In the same way no data was ever really recorded properly for transgender crime, although the studies available show yes their rate of offending is higher. Sweden is experiencing the same issues and is slightly further ahead than us - the above is a respected university study.

I notice you haven’t answered any of my questions, I would really appreciate it if you did.

  1. Why do you think they are escaping misogyny? They could be leaving for any reason, including financial.
  2. If the men coming here are not the ones oppressing women in their home countries then who is?
  3. Do you think men coming from terrifyingly misogynistic countries are more likely to be misogynistic?
  4. Do you find the crime detail I’ve given above to be very high for such a small group of people?
  5. How do you vet men who come from countries which are a terrorism threat to the UK, when they will not have criminal records for either terrorism offences or sexual/violent crime? The Taliban won’t be keeping criminal records, or even prosecuting, such crime.
  6. Do you think what looks like dozens of women and children raped and even murdered every year is an acceptable price to pay to accommodate these men? Is there a limit for you, or no limit?

Very interested to hear answers.

Edited

No one knows any of this but you are tarring everyone with the same brush, despite having never been to any of these countries nor i suspect having ever met an Afghan or Syrian migrant....

We are having to take in many more Afghan migrants due to mis management of data bases by the previous Tory Govt.....

My Mum was cared for by a Syrian migrant nurse, after her stroke, my neighbour has some lovely men from Africa care for her.... her words not mine.... so i have a different take to you.

Btw where would house migrants securely and what would you do with the ones we cannot deport?

All completely irrelevant to what I wrote.

Who can’t we deport?

Saucery · 06/08/2025 20:31

Not on anything relevant

Such as statistics from….<checks notes> ….Sweden?
British men being rapists but that’s ok (somehow).
The entire population of Bedford being involved (again, not sure how, but such incisive posts must surely mean something?)

JamesMacGill · 06/08/2025 20:31

I’ve learned over the years that if your position can’t withstand the most gentle of questioning, it’s probably the wrong one.

Sweden is a comparable country with comparable immigration.

Never mentioned British men.

You clearly can’t understand basic comparisons.

You’re being faux naive now and everyone can see it.
