Civil unrest, what's really going on?

1000 replies

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 17:02

My DH keeps chirping up with, there's riots here, protests there, immigrants have done assaults in xxx etc. He sees me as a bit of a do-gooder..

All UK places, but when I look at my regular news, there's very little reporting of it.

My DH has some MH issues currently and to confront him with 'what the heck are you reading?' isn't worth it right now.
I make comments such as, ooh that sounds grim and doesn't sound good, and that's very worrying, but I'd really like to know if it's really happening and where he's getting this info.

Unfortunately recent events have shown how unreliable the media is.

So we’re left wondering and vulnerable to the spinning of unofficial sources.

Silvertulips · 03/08/2025 22:47

Once you search X on FB you get more and more incident’s.

I used to live in a big city and wanted to see what happened (close to a relatives house) and he slept through it - Since then I have seen quite a few.

But you are right, there appears to be a bit of reporting ban on these incidents.

However, they are being posted.

rickyrickygrimes · 03/08/2025 22:48

i world guess your DH is on Twitter / X @Sadworld23 . While my Following feed is usually quite sensible, the For You feed is nuts and includes a stream of marches, protests, riots etc in the UK which rarely seem to appear on msm. Sometimes they do, mostly they don’t. Often in the comments beneath them some poster points out that the images are from another event or have been manipulated in some way, but they are usually drowned out by the ‘take our country back’ posters.

i do have an interest in immigration but the algorithm interprets that in a very weird way.

pizzaHeart · 03/08/2025 22:49

Nothing in my area apart from usual road accidents in usual places. We have asylum seekers hotel , no protests. I was at the town centre today and it was lovely and sunny.
Of course I could have missed something but I doubt it.

Ohforpetersake · 03/08/2025 22:51

X is a sewer that explicitly, intentionally promotes far right twaddle and that's owned by a man who wants civil war in the UK.

Immigrants are less, not more likely to commit crimes.

How disingenuous. ‘Immigrants’ aren’t some homogenous blob (as you very well know) and some factions are far more likely to commit certain types of crime than others. Hence why there are no Japanese grooming gangs.

There are assaults and molestation happening in multiple cities across the UK at the moment.
Mainstream press don't report it.

It makes me laugh when people come on here and complain about the media “whipping up hatred towards asylum seekers.” For crying out loud, the media is overwhelmingly on the side of mass immigration. The BBC is basically a propaganda unit for the metropolitan left. In fact, the BBC is so biased they no longer even bother to hide it. The ‘long march through the institutions’ is more or less complete. The left run academia, the arts, the entertainment industry and the publishing industry. And now we literally have laws designed to shut down anyone who complains about mass immigration or multiculturalism. We all know there is two tier justice in the U.K. Even the left know it. If someone goes online and says vicious and obscene things about illegal immigrants, they are treated differently to those who say exactly the same things about Reform voters. When that girl threw a milkshake in Nigel Farage’s face, we all knew nothing would happen to her, just as we all knew nothing would happen to Bob Vylan.

Watermelonnice · 03/08/2025 23:15

I think that this will be the next big uk wide scandal after the rape gangs and post office.

Multiple attacks by newly arrived migrants, some on very young girls, Epping, Nuneaton etc.

Seems to be a media blackout on the latest one and protests also not reported.

Seems that police have been instructed to keep it quiet and media too, but someone whistle blew.

Obviously orders from someone in government? Very bad idea as it makes you feel like you can’t trust the authorities and they are not looking after the needs of our own people, especially children. And women.

Investigative Journalism is dead now it seems.

How do you know? Do you have a reliable source?

Typical MSM

Livelovebehappy · 03/08/2025 23:17

dizzydizzydizzy · 03/08/2025 18:52

There are obviously going to be some crimes committed by asylum seekers , partly because some people are criminals and partly because they are living wirh a vast amount of stress, they are vulnerable and desperate. I can't imagine how I'd feel if I didn't have a permanent home and didn't know if I would be allowed to stay in the country. My mental health would probably be terrible.

On the other hand, I would imagine that asylum seekers are often the victims of crime - racist hate, abuse from traffickers, gang masters and dodgy landlords.

Really? Being under pressure and stress does not give you a free pass to be a criminal fgs. Don’t excuse bad and criminal behaviour.

JamesMacGill · 03/08/2025 23:18

I think there’s a media divide. The Express, Mail, Sun - none of these newspapers would shy away from publishing anything about immigration. The BBC, Guardian, Independent totally the other way, they only post very reluctantly if there’s a story which paints immigration in a negative light, and try to bury it under a ton of other articles.

I agree that organisations are captured. Expressing any opinion other than ‘immigration is amazing and only mouth breathing knuckle draggers oppose an open borders policy’ is career suicide in many places.

Lucy Connolly case was an absolute joke. Paedophiles walk free from court every single day, in the double figures, yet she gets a hefty jail sentence (not even suspended) for a deeply unpleasant tweet.

It’s absolute madness though that there are media blackouts. Facebook and other platforms are pretty good and getting the word out on this kind of thing. This isn’t going to end well at all…..

Exactly, I always double check sources before I believe anything I read on X and I have to say I was shocked at finding it was true

Showerflowers · 03/08/2025 17:33

there were several peaceful protests in my area over the last few days at hotels that are being used to house asylum seekers. Nothing on the news at all.

a local to me young lady was stabbed to death by a resident outside the asylum seekers hotel that she worked at. She was stabbed multiple times and left to die, wasn’t found for hours. Nothing on the news. Local news did report on it but scantily.

there’s a lot of unrest where I live. I think the press etc are trying not to fan the flames.

Can I ask where this was as I haven't heard anything about it? (No surprise there!) I head yesterday about the poor 12 year old that was raped by afghan refugees. But mainstream media like to hide these things!

SadSadTimes · 03/08/2025 23:23

It is easier and cheaper for the government to try to control the narrative than to solve the problem. So BBC and Guardian suppress certain news (why? what's in it for them?).

Wes Streeting's constituency office has been attacked with bricks through the windows and "Child Killer" graffiti. With the well reported deaths of other MPs not so very long ago I would have thought this was reportable news. I did a search and found an article in the Telegraph and Daily Mail.

BBC is busy with mis-sold car finance. So much more important.

Move along, move along, nothing to see here...

Midnightlove · 03/08/2025 23:24

Sadworld23 · 03/08/2025 22:09

Yes its very odd, I saw a bit of BBC tv about protests in Newcastle, but nothing much on Guardian site considering the scale of what DH is telling me. No idea where he's getting it from but does watch alot of YouTube.

There was a huge protest in Manchester, and canary warf

Brendahollowayreconsider · 03/08/2025 23:25

The extreme right has always used incidents like this as a vehicle for pushing their agenda.
Your country is being taken over.
The British way of life is being eroded.
Look what they're getting that you're not.
The comments sections are littered with, uprising, patriots, civil unrest etc the extreme right have been peddling this for decades.
I recognise the language and rhetoric as I was on the fringe's of the extreme right in the 90s.
Where's the protests when violence, rape , murder is perpetrated by white males.

Absolutely, poor guys. We can't imagine how tough it must be for them, so if gangraping 12 year olds it what they need to do for the sake of their mental health, who are we to pass judgement? We should probably send the girls to them though really and tell them not to fight, just in case the screams and crying brings back some trauma. I've had dodgy landlords myself so completely understand how hard it is to deal with. Though I chose trashy telly and the odd glass of wine to help me cope rather than raping children. Different strokes, I suppose.

Does the existence of the far right in itself mean immigration can never, ever be an issue?

Talk TV, Talk Radio, LBC Radio often cover way more than the MSM.

MyDeftHedgehog · 03/08/2025 23:28

Its not being reported in MSM because Starmer doesn't want us to know what's really going on. They didnt initially report the ethnicity of the perpetrators of the 12 year old girl raped, because they didnt want to things to kick off. It will kick off big time soon I'm pretty sure

No but it's got to be handled properly.
Violence is never going to solve it .
The Nf , BNP,C18 boot boys accomplished nothing by terrorising for the most part vulnerable/weak targets.

But it’s no longer the ‘extreme right’. It’s your normal average person who are now finding their voice, where once upon a time, they would be quietly nodding their head in the background.

Where's the protests when violence, rape , murder is perpetrated by white males.

what’s the point of protesting about this? The perpetrators are arrested and face the justice system. Nothing else we can do.

People are protesting about the immigrant rapists, because we don’t want to import rapists and murderers when we already have to sort out our own home grown ones…..simple as that really.
