Well deserved. Nasty racist bitch.

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 17:20

Yet there are paedophiles and drunk drivers who get a slap on the wrist
Don't get me wrong what she did was wrong but she knew that hence the deletion

Trying to hide the evidence doesn't count!

She encouraged people to commit racially aggravated murder. Would you want her as your childminder?!

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 20:40

But she didn't physically harm anyone. That's the whole point she's got a far harsher sentence than people who kill and sexually abuse others

StMarieforme · 17/10/2024 20:40

HowYouSpellingThat10 · 17/10/2024 17:46

Something about this one makes me feel deeply uncomfortable.

I don't agree with what she said and agree she should be punished but this is disproportionate.

She isn't a political figure even if her husband is.

My worry is that this feeds exactly what they are trying to avoid. Where are the same sentences for the Leeds riots?

It allows the creation of a narrative that is unhelpful to integration and ultimately causes more divisions.

If she'd said 'meet at x hotel at 7pm' I'd feel differently but this was more of an ill worded rant. Not right but not worth a higher sentence than serious criminality.

She was a registered childminder.

StMarieforme · 17/10/2024 20:40

RockyRogue1001 · 17/10/2024 17:52

And she's a childminder
So that'll show on her dbs

I think she absolutely deserves it

Totally agree.

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 20:41

No I wouldn't want her as a child minder which is why I said what she did was wrong. Nobody has argued that it isn't. People are just baffled that she's been sentenced harsher than someone who has killed someone or sexually abused them

GretchenWienersHair · 17/10/2024 20:42

There are really people on here saying it’s too harsh. My goodness…

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 20:43

People have said it's disproportionate

sprigatito · 17/10/2024 20:43

It richly serves her right. The government was absolutely right to provide a decisive response to what was a wave of disgusting racist violence and incitement. She made her choice and she can do her time.

Huw Edwards should have gone to prison. The treatment of sexual crimes across our justice system is atrocious. This has nothing to do with Lucy Connolly.

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 20:45

So you can see why people are expressing annoyance at the two tier sentencing?

Because she tried to incite thousands of people to murder.

Yes, murderers and rapists/paedophiles should also be sentenced harshly. So should people who try to incite racist murders.

No, because that is rightwing nonsense

Connollly got imprisoned for inciting people to engage in racist violent, including setting fire to other human beings

There is nothing "two-tier" about it. The British justice system is a complex and ever-evolving creature with hundreds of different processes, rules and guidelines, more effective in some areas than others (sexual crimes are a glaring weakness, but there are lots of others).

This "two-tier" dog whistle is simplistic, unhelpful crap.

Plenty of people in prison now for demonstrations in which they neither harmed anyone nor called for anyone to be harmed… (climate and Palestine protests).

Again. She encouraged people to set fire to a building full of people. To trap hundreds of innocent people in a building while they set fire to it.

People like her are responsible for a lot of the unrest that happened. They spread lies to wind people up to a point of attempted murder on a mass scale.

I really don’t understand how you’re not getting that there is a bigger picture here.

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 20:56

And I completely object to jailing people for protesting. People who have took away peoples lives and innocence are released early to make way for people expressing their views

FrancisSeaton · 17/10/2024 20:57

There is a bigger picture here. The government is way too lenient on serious crimes

Does the government decide on sentences for crimes? Genuine question
