Ooh look, one racist wondering why another racist has to go to jail for their racist behaviour.

My hope is that the judiciary don’t do anything dumb with the sentencing of the ‘throat slitting’ Labour councillor.

That will play right into the hands of those who subscribe to the two-tier argument.

Plenty of people in prison now for demonstrations in which they neither harmed anyone nor called for anyone to be harmed… (climate and Palestine protests).

Out of interest, what have (non-violent) pro-Palestinian protesters been jailed for? Which cases were you thinking of?

I've only come across two cases, but the protesters were not jailed and one protester was violent. In this case the protester was found guilty of assault by beating. He hit a woman over the head with a stick after she tried to grab his sign which threatened 'to blow up the House of Lords'. The violent protester was given a 12-month community order;

The other case was that of the three women who displayed paraglider images. They were found guilty of terror offences but the judge said he had “decided not to punish” them and they were each given a 12-month conditional discharge. The judge also told the defendants; “You crossed the line, but it would have been fair to say that emotions ran very high on this issue. Your lesson has been well learned.”

@stuckdownahole

Would like to point out that your post is ridiculous

Would like to point out that being racist is not a crime, being a low life is not a crime, we have freedom of speech in this country. Nick Griffin, leader of the BNP, went on Question Time some 15 years ago and called for mass deportations of people that were in his view not indigenous. On an earlier occasion, he referred to Islam as a "wicked, vicious faith". Those were his opinions, which he was / still is entitled to hold, whether you like it or not.

The offence is inciting violence against others. You can shout "fuck the King" but not "kill the King".

How many times do you need telling? The offence was Publishing written material that incited racial hatred.

Not inciting violence.

lolly792 · 19/10/2024 07:01

Yes, that was the offence Connolly was charged and convicted with, though in fairness, calling for people to be burned to death is pretty violent.

Her husband is only mildly less stupid than she is.

Mr Connolly said his wife has cared for children from Somalia, Bangladesh and Nigeria adding: "They are fantastic."

newnamethanks · 19/10/2024 08:27

Ooh, forrin friends eh? The last feeble cry of the racist 'but I've got a black friend'.

Wow.

I know the defence cited the death of her child as part of their case but hopefully they didn't descend into the racist attitude of that post

I'm not going to open any DM links but how have you concluded the doctors' nationalities?

It absolutely is not an excuse for racism and you know that. You know it's not okay, but you're still trying to justify it.

I can see why you name changed

Piggywaspushed · 19/10/2024 12:25

Yes, but all the other sources just state names.

Nowhere in any material about the inquest is there a suggestion that the doctors were recent arrivals, not in command of English, trained in a different way or perhaps not fully qualified. I have seen that in a few malpractice inquests so it would be mentioned if relevant.

lolly792 · 19/10/2024 13:18

@DuncinToffee me too . That post was shameful
