Lucy Connolly sentenced to two and a half years.

What she said and posted was absolutely vile. No question about it and she absolutely deserves to be punished.

But over the last few months I have seen endless reports about men who have been convicted for downloading hundreds and thousands of child sex abuse images who have been given absolutely no jail time whatsoever.

Are we all really content with somebody being sent to prison for writing words on social media - as deeply offensive as they were - when people, men, are not being sent to prison for for the downloading and possession of child sexual abuse images?

But SHE is a danger to society! She was literally TELLING people to set fire to hotels with immigrants in them.

DO YOU NOT GET THIS?!

Apologists, Yaxley Lennon has a book out this week, toddle off and get a copy, you'll agree with every word. Why any of you think that inciting a mob to arson and murder is practically the equivalent of stealing a bar of chocolate is bewildering. Burn and murder refugees yet a slap on the wrist for inciting and encouraging it? Two tier thinking going on.

I'm not being an apologist. I think tax payers money and limited prison space should be reserved for those that are genuinely dangerous. The ones that will stab you in the eye for looking at them funny kind of thing. I appreciate what she said could potentially have incited violence, but the people that would have acted on her tweet would probably still have done whatever it is they would have done anyway and used something else as an excuse.

I think what she said was said in the heat of the moment and totally wrong but don't you think it's off that she should go to prison when the likes of Huw Edwards gets off with a slapped wrist? The court is making an example of her.
So unfair when you think of the brutal rapists escaping prison. I honestly think woman's rights are going backwards in this country.

Probably the same kind of person who breaks the speed limit, and overtakes on bends, and gets caught with no insurance, or MOT, or car tax. Then when the police catch up with them, they say, 'why don't you go and arrest some real criminals?'

A police officer friend says they get this shit several times a week, and they're like 'that's literally what I'm doing. Arresting a criminal. You're breaking the law.'

Do you often tell people to set fire to a hotel with humans in it in the heat of the moment?

Do you incite violence in the heat of the moment and then joke you will play the mental health card

Really odd that some people keep banging on 'do we think it's right that Lucy Connolly got this prison sentence when sex offenders don't....' .... literally no one has said that!

Meanwhile we have a local Paedo, who admitted sex with children, whose case has been deferred again and again because the courts have been told to defer sentencing as the prisons are full - and is walking free on bail.

I agree Connolly deserves a sentence, but why couldn't her hearing or indeed jail time be deferred rather than people who are an active threat to local communities roaming the streets.

She deserves a custodial sentence. Hopefully she’ll be more careful with her keyboard warrioring when she gets out of prison. I don’t think she’ll have many parents queuing up for her childminding services though 🤨

Her husband is not an MP. He is a local councillor.

If she deserves a custodial sentence then you must surely be advocating for 100.000’s more to follow her.

If someone had told you even 5 years ago that writing what she did would result in 2.5 years in prison you’d have been laughed at.

This notion that writing a wholly inappropriate message suddenly warrants jail time is absurd and totally out of line with anything that has gone before.
