4 young children stabbed in Annecy

I looked for a thread on this but couldn't see one.

I'm absolutely shocked and sickened at this attack on these helpless babies.

I can't imagine what the mother/minder of the baby who was stabbed multiple times in their pushchair is feeling and I so hope the two babies who are critical pull through.

Just awful :( :(

Reading these kinds of stories really affect me. I have a 3.5 yr old and a 18month old and I just want to scoop them up and protect them forever.

The children were stabbed by a Syrian asylum seeker who claimed to be a Christian.

The Guardian reported this but buried the lede until the second-to-last paragraph.

He also stabbed two adults including at least one elderly man, he seems to have gone for the weakest targets, and yes it's unimaginably horrific. I hope that all involved recover as fully as possible.

It's absolutely horrific. I think it's best not to watch the news with 5 year-olds present. Too much stuff comes up that is disturbing

Do we know the race(s) of the victims? And the vast majority of asylum seekers do not hate white people and want to live their lives as we all do and contribute to their communities. I will acknowledge that there are problems with some, but the majority are not like this.

Absolutely horrific. To attack babies sitting in pushchairs is just unbelievable. We really need to question more who we are giving asylum to.

He has a young daughter himself and he is also a nurse . Bastard ! . The police should have just killed him .

The thread questioning the lack of discussion of the attempted murders of multiple defenceless toddlers, on this PARENTING site was deleted within 10 minutes, with several accusations of Islamophobia and hyperbole being tossed about. Interestingly though the anonymous YANBU votes were in the lead just prior to deletion. This incident happened almost 8 hours ago, yet only now has anyone else thought to create a thread. Almost as though people are too scared to discuss these matters at all, for fear of not discussing them in The Correct Way…

Not just seeing it, actively being cornered and attempting to put their own bodies between the knife man and their child. If you can stomach it, you should watch the video, it was beyond belief and we do ourselves no favours to avoid seeing the reality.

I know, it's absolutely abhorrent how he's just sort of dancing around, light jogging looking for the next child. He goes round the mother/minder and plunged the knife in to the baby twice or three times. Horrific

I told my husband about it and he asked why I watch the video.
I don't go looking for videos of kids getting hurt but when it's posted on twitter I will watch it. I can see for myself what's happened.

He also said the best thing to do in a knife attack is to try and get away. Do not fight the attacker. Not that these victims had any chance of that.

8 hours ago is still too fresh for people to jump all over this news and start creating threads on mn. Many are still at work or something. Just hearing it now for the first time. How awful. Don't really want to look at the details for now as I can't stand anything horrible to do with children. Perhaps I will later.

@BarelyLiterate you say the person in question was an asylum seeker. Where are you getting that information please? Sky News are reporting that he was granted asylum in Sweden and is married to a Swedish national.
