Mosque shooting in Christchurch NZ

Multiple fatalities reported. 300-500 people at Friday prayers when a gunman went in with an automatic weapon shooting for 5-20 minutes (varied witness reports). And another mosque also involved with injuries. Poor Christchurch.

She's quoted on the BBC as saying: PM: Migrants have made NZ their home
"Migrants and refugees have chosen to make New Zealand their home and it is their home. For the person who perpetuated this violence it is not."

It was filmed by the shooter on a head cam lasting 17 minutes long according to the news. He went outside afterwards and shot a random woman dead on the street and then went back into the mosque and shot at those laying on the floor again. Sick bastard.
Videos have been widely circulated on twitter but most have been taken down thank god.. police are urging people not to watch it.

God bless those affected and their families.

This is so upsetting. I am in tears watching TVNZ's reporting. All the people, especially the children in Christchurch and what they have been through these last few years. There is so much anxiety already, and now this. I still get emergency texts from my dc's old school in Christchurch, which was pretty central, and they are still in lockdown. So many of my friends have children still at school and are so worried for them.

We've been in lockdown at the school for the last 3 hrs. The local marae delivered some food about an hour ago & kids have bacon butties. Amazing on a crazy afternoon.

That link to the NZ herald now includes stills from the shooters video. Not of the shooting but Hmmat them giving it bandwidth. He doesn't deserve publicity. It also names him.

I’m so sorry for all of you in Christchurch. It’s unthinkable what you have already been through, and now this. I sincerely hope it’s not Australians who have come to your peaceful land and done this.

Lockdown just been lifted at our old school, so hopefully others will too now. It's all just heartbreaking

Yep - lockdown lifted here too. We only popped in to speak to a teacher & got caught. This happens in other places, not here. 🙁

It is just shocking. What’s even worse is that there appear to be multiple people involved so they would have sat down for weeks / months to discuss and plan this.
