New thread to discuss the developments from the news for Madeleine Mccann

ScoobyDooooo · 09/05/2007 12:17

I know the other thread got a bit out of hand but lets keep this one nice if possible.

I think it is good to discuss all that is happening in the news & also good to see peoples views on what is happening in the news.

The lastest i can see so far is that Madeleins parents want to keep focused on the finding of there daughter & want to keep this in the news they don't want things to turn on the police investigation & how it is being handled.

Mr & Mrs Mccann have also decided they want an E poster which they are going to be sending out through email to spread the news so that everyone, everywhere can look out for beautiful Madeleine.

scooby - UCM started one yesterday where it is just developments

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 09/05/2007 12:28

UCM started one for news updates only. as far as I can see discussion was not encouraged.

according to what I just read, the portuguese police are saying that their only line of enquiry now is that madeleine was
kidnapped to order
by a brittish paedophile ring, as at near 4 yo she is too old to be sold for adoption. there are 7 other unsolved cases of missing children in portugal...

ScoobyDooooo · 09/05/2007 13:02

mommajools thanks i did see UCM's thread but she just wanted news updates, i thought we could discuss the updates on here

Oh no wannabe i can not believe it has come to this, i feel sick to my stomach, i always sit & think how i would feel if i was that child, i know i should not think like that but i can't help feeling the pain.

Still praying for her safe return but if this is the case....god only knows

Why don't you all come & discuss the news on here ?

Latest update from Sky News is that police have found "another piece of child's clothing" but are not commenting on whether it belongs to Madeleine.
Also, 2 "Cracker-style" criminal behaviour experts have been sent over to help the local police, having already passed over details of UK paedophiles with links to the Algarve.

LilyLoo · 09/05/2007 17:12

Oh dear god Daddy she was only in pj's wasn't she i hope not! They have realise a web address which i posted on ucm update.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 09/05/2007 17:18

I do think that the lack of info from the portuguese police, and am by no means saying that's a bad thing btw, but I do think that it leads news sources like sky to report every bit of detail, regardless of how relevant it is. "a piece of child's clothing" is probably not that uncommon a thing to find in a place where people go on holiday. kids probably take clothes off on the beach, at hotels around the pool, at villas, leave them there and there they lay forgotten. and I think that sky etc are getting peoples' hopes up unnecessarily... maybe that's not the right word, but thus far all sightings/reports have been discounted.

LilyLoo · 09/05/2007 17:26

Any news on the thread that said there had been a sighting at the petrol station ? Saw it on the other thread but didn't post as getting sick of people starting arguments over what they do and don't think others should do.

mommajools · 09/05/2007 17:31

sorry scooby - i misread your title and thought you had started the same as UCM

LIZS · 09/05/2007 17:32

There are 100s of journalists out there all looking to be the one to broker the story so every tiny whiff of "information" or "evidence" , no matter how speculative or vague, is fed back before any corroboration can take place. Rather like chinese whispers.

wannaBeWhateverIWannaBe · 09/05/2007 17:37

lizs and I bet the papers are offering to pay a huge sum to the journalist to breaks the news ...

ll no news as far as I've heard, and am sure the must/must not discuss brigade will arrive shortly.

ScoobyDooooo · 09/05/2007 17:49

Sadly there is still no more news, i also think this is going to go on for a while, don't know why just a feeling i have, obviously i wish & pray it would end soon very soon.

The clothes could or could not be but i should think any clothing that has been found weather it was pj's or not should be seen to because they could have got her changed or even put new clothes on her.

I think people are now just feeling more & more desperate as the days go on, i do think they should widen there search as i think whoever has taken her are probably way out of portugal by now, just my opinion though.

Stll feeling very very

Anything else been reported yet?

OP posts:
TeeJaye · 09/05/2007 19:07

I just saw the item of clothing on Sky news and it looked like a child's headscarf so it's not likely to be anything relevant.

quietmouse · 09/05/2007 19:28

it could be relevant though, as Madeleine's blonde hair is quite unusual in that area

I really want a breakthrough in this. The waiting must be torture for the family

ScoobyDooooo · 09/05/2007 19:36

Anything could be relevant & i think thats why any childs clothing they find they will be taking in, they could of changed her clothes or added clothes to her to disguise her.

Still no news so the wait goes on..

Just reading that article onthe link and reading about Rui Pedro, who was 11 when hewent missing in 1998. What his mother has seen already and still no news for here. How awful.

Been talking about this with my Portugeuse work experience girl and she is stunned by the news. Says her family over there are all as shocked and distressed by the story as we int he UK.

TeeJaye · 09/05/2007 20:32

I didn't think of that ScoobyDoooooo but the way the officer was carrying it, I doubt they'd find any forensic evidence on it - he had it dangling and swaying by one of the strings!

ScoobyDooooo · 09/05/2007 20:59

How strage you would think they would put it in a bag?

OP posts:
shoegal13 · 10/05/2007 10:28

like kate mccann i'm from liverpool i don't know the family myself but i do know someone who does. still they are saying the same thing as many other parents are (well not on mn of course due to the thread police...) what were they thinking?? why did they leave their 3 young children alone not only on this occassion but on others apparently too.

like everybody else on here i hope madeline is found safe and well. but what has surprised me is how posters are told to think of the parents in terms of what they do or don't write. but what about madeline?? it is because of a stupid wreckless decision that her life now hangs in the balance and for what? a bit of quiet at an adults only evening meal?? my son is 6 and has autism believe me i yearn for a bit of peace each & everyday but i would never have left him alone whether he was asleep or not. i also can't help thinking that if madeline had been the child of a not well off single mother who had left her children alone while she had gone out to a bar how different the reaction would have been towards her...

spook · 10/05/2007 10:33

Oh shoegal13..we have heard it all before.
Not only is it inappropriate but it is very very boring.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 10/05/2007 10:33

shoegal there are other threads debating that, this thread has been set up I think without that aim

ScoobyDooooo · 10/05/2007 10:39

Oh god here we go again, i only set this thread up to discuss the investigation in the news to find little Madeleine, not for someone to come on here & start judging...

Do you know what i hate this f-ing place, what is the point a load of heartless women bitching about, thinking they are perfect, the fact is we are all parents, all learning & all make mistakes now piss off.

OP posts:
shoegal13 · 10/05/2007 10:41

what is wrong with you?? to state the obvious that she was taken because she was left alone is boring??

and again with the what you can and can't post? the thread title is this or that... now that is boring.

anyway it says 'discuss the developments from the news' in the title of this thread and as kates mother was asked why her daughter could have made the decision to leave her children alone on the sky news interview last night. it is a very valid point even for here!

ScoobyDooooo · 10/05/2007 10:43

Yes but it is judging, why start judging now when a littel 3 year old girl is out there missing? surly the main concern is to bring her back to her family?

Anyway you know what i am not even getting into this because it has been said & done to death, read through the other thread for some answers to your questions because there is some on there.
