Just in case people want to continue discussing this.

Thanks Mia

Unless we start picking it apart? I'm not sure I understand you MistressMia?? Try to stop people taking their religious fairy tales as actual fact?

evilcherub · 08/01/2016 16:46

Why not limit immigration to women, children and old people? So many of the refugees seem to be able bodied young men. All seems a bit strange to me especially when they show their gratitude by raping the women of the country that has given them refuge.

JustWonderingZ · 08/01/2016 16:49

all the victims said exactly the same things: the perpetrators spoke a language they could not understand, it was not a European-sounding language. All the perpetrators were Arabic or North African origin. There was not ONE victim who said she was assaulted by a German-speaking white man in that crowd. These wishy-washy PC brigade trying to minimise what happened and cover-up the truth make me sick. Of course this has nothing to do with the influx of immigrants, what on earth made you link the two events?

BungoWomble · 08/01/2016 16:50

I am pleased to announce that the BBC have FINALLY shunted this story to the headline position on their. front page. About bloody time to. They are still not linking in attacks from other parts of Europe - no mention of it - but there is a very timely bit about how the Arab workd is reacting on social media. Hoo-bloody-ray.

Moreshabbythanchic · 08/01/2016 16:52

I have tried to keep up with this thread and the previous one, both very informative, but I sometimes need a break to calm down, it still makes me so angry about what has happened and how it is being dealt with. The trouble is it takes so long to catch up again!

batshitlady · 08/01/2016 16:53

C'mon evil They haven't all been raping and pillaging on arrival. Let's keep our heads here..

I suppose it's a response to public opinion Bungo. No different to politicians really are they. Waiting and seeing what way the wind blows.....

MariscallRoad · 08/01/2016 16:54

spaceyboo I saw now you study Islamic Law - where? I am Greek and British. As Greece has an Islamic minority in Thrace's 2 prefectures which have parts only of Sharia Law and under Lauzane Treaty I feel you may be interested in something I d like to share with you - but you might know this already: An Islamic woman in Greece fights Sharia Law in the European courts. It is about her inheritance. i dont know how it will turn out in the courts but the Greek Civil Code does not apply to her as she is Muslim.

'Muslim woman fighting Sharia law in Europe'

spaceyboo · 08/01/2016 16:54

Fourmummy - your comments are definitely true for Sudan, but I have yet to see any Kenyan origin Ismaili man dare to screw any Kenyan origin Ismaili woman out of her fair share. Things are different in all Islamic cultures and that's the point I was trying to make - Islam needs to he dragged into the modern times, and we absolutely must stop calling crimes that screwed up muslims do as 'Islamic crimes'. The Rochdale pedos that raped white children were pedos, don't let them hide behind Islam; call them out for what they are.

Same for the Syrian rapists in Cologne.

BungoWomble · 08/01/2016 16:58

Well at least they respond to something batshitlady. It's reassuring that they will.

If those comments from the arab world on the BBC are valid, and if this has been a concerted attack across Europe, I am puzzled about the motives for it. Who benefits? I really don't see immediately how this benefits ISIS, who surely are the primary suspects.

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/jan/08/smug-conspiracy-theories-9-11-bosnian-war-cologne

In 2016, let’s have fewer smug conspiracy theories. From 9/11 to the Bosnian war, there are always people lurking with some alternative notion to try to demonstrate their superiority - now it’s Cologne’s turn

Perhaps the governments of European countries could offer free self defence lessons/krav maga to all women so they can defend themselves from these sort of attacks rather than leaving it up to the police and giving the impression that they are helpless and easy to attack? I am sure these vile creatures would not be so ready to attack if their victims fought back. It seems they are cowards who only attack those who cannot defend themselves.

BabyGanoush · 08/01/2016 17:07

Nobody can fight 10 attackers

All the women were just outnumbered

I am 6ft and have had self defense lessons, yet I would have been nowhere against a group

speakergirl · 08/01/2016 17:08

Well, not to tell the feminists I told them so, but...

This is what a real patriarchy looks like. Men from an actual real patriarchal country. Forget all your 30% paygap nonsense and all this manspreading crap. Here we have a real issue. An issue that's going to get worse and worse

No doubt you will find a way to blame straight white males

GraceKellysLeftArm · 08/01/2016 17:08

1500 posts and we have people feeling they need to say "I'm not racist", apologists saying "not all..." And calls for eu governments to teach us self-defence.

Jesus (baddoom tish) wept.

There's a fucking elephant in the room.

BungoWomble · 08/01/2016 17:08

No evilcherub that's a red herring. I am trained in self defence. I could deal with 1 attacker. I might have options (to find a way out and run) faced with 2 or 3. Having to run a gauntlet of 1000? Nope. No way. There was nothing those women could have done

More importantly, it puts the onus on the victims to fight back, rather than on men not to be violent. It actually encourages a 'might is right' mentality.

We want a civil, peaceful society. Fighting fire with fire merely gives a bigger fire.

onthephone100 · 08/01/2016 17:09

To address some possible misinformation on this thread....

I met with a group of friends today, local cologne women, and asked them about the difference between uk and German laws on sexual violence.

They found the idea that there's no such thing as indecent assault in Germany shocking and said its not true. It is true that a complaint has to be made before anything can be investigated, and I didn't get to ask them about rape specifically, but unwanted sexual touching is certainly a crime.

Just to be clear.

BungoWomble · 08/01/2016 17:11

speakergirl, those concerns are entirely valid. This is an extreme case. Don't let it blind you into thinking sexism does not exist in Britain. It does. Otherwise we wouldn't be complaining that no one has been covering this story with the seriousness it deserves would we.

hiddenhome2 · 08/01/2016 17:12

People are being banned because of what is being written here.

Someone has complained.

We are being censored.

BungoWomble · 08/01/2016 17:13

And just to be perfectly clear, evilcherub, the same would apply to any male fighter too. We are all vulnerable if small armies start to appear on the streets.

BungoWomble · 08/01/2016 17:14

What makes you think people are being banned?

speakergirl · 08/01/2016 17:15

What's more important? Men spreading their legs too far on a tube carriage or these women getting raped/sexually assaulted/harassed?

hiddenhome2 · 08/01/2016 17:15

I have been informed Sad

polentapies · 08/01/2016 17:17

Who was banned and why?

hiddenhome2 · 08/01/2016 17:18

Lidia, Battersea and Tatiana for being inflammatory apparently.
