Welcome one and all!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on February 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

OP posts:
elliepac · 24/02/2010 11:53

Morning all, no time to catch up as am sneaking a peek at work so will have a read later!

Today's list looks like this:-

Morning routine done (I was actually washing up/tidying/puttingwashingaway at 7.30 this morning!!!!!)
FInish Mount Washmore tonight
Mission
Evening routine (2 days on the trot and counting....must be some kind of record for my lazy bones)
Lots of school work
Cook dinner (didn't manage this last night we had soup )

That will do I think. Am a bit of a worry wart today as DD has gone to a cm that she has never been to before as my mum has the norovirus I think and I just couldn't take another day off. Am sure she's fine but I hate leaving her .

Have a good day everyone!

McDreamy · 24/02/2010 11:58

Hellooooo - better late than never but can I join in? House is now getting ridiculous! I feel hideously out of control of my own home/life. I am a fantastic procrastinator and it's time to stop and take action. I definitly have CHAOS and am fed up of apologising for mess when anyone does come over.

I am also fed up of admiring everyone else's ability to organise themselves, admiring everyone else's homes/lives.I want that person to be me. I have just turned 39 and have given myself a year to sort myself out and that includes my home. So please can I join to you all for much needed kick up the backside and a friendly face

MrsDinky · 24/02/2010 12:20

SR - just Google Blue Peter Tracey Island, it was (at risk of revealing age ) long after I thought Blue Peter was for babies, but saw it on the anniversary programme last year.

Hello McDreamy welcome on board, a year sounds like a realistic target, good for you. We are a friendly bunch on here, no matter is too trivial to be discussed, you can get started straight away with babysteps. If you really are in CHAOS there is a special Flylady section for that, but someone else will have to find it later for you as I am not very good at navigating flylady.com. Don't feel daunted it's very much one step at a time. There are a coupld of others here who have only just joined too.

OM thank you for reminding me, need to book the car in for a service.

swanriver · 24/02/2010 12:49

McDreamy - I feel that way QUITE often, just realising you don't have to get everything done in one day really helps.
Also, sometimes you realise on this and other threads that you are getting more done than you thought, just not conventionally clean and tidy house

I'm amazed by how much everyone on this thread does in RL, let alone Flying.

MiniMarmite · 24/02/2010 13:00

Welcome aboard McDreamy. As MrsD says, no matter is too trivial to be discussed here. I'm not sure if she was talking about John Noakes bottom again ...I'm with PA on that one !

I accidentally stayed up until 01:00 doing house stuff. DH was (understandably) quite annoyed with me! It was most unlike me really - not sure what got into me. House is very sparkly now though and will be for at least the next two hours (while DS has his nap).

Have a good day everyone x

PositiveAttitude · 24/02/2010 19:33

Evening all. Is everyone feeling a bit jaded by the approach of the end of the month, it does seem a little quiet here.

MM - I feel you are in need of an early night tonight!

Welcome to McDreamy - all the others are totally crazy, I am the sane one on here!

Ellie - Hope DD was fine at the new CM. I am sure she was more relaxed thanyou have been today!

Swan - How about trying You tube for the thunderbirds model. It is a bit of a classic one, so I am sure it is out on the net somewhere.

Right, update list:

Work til lunchtime done
Shopping on way home Done
Collect DD3 from education unit done - a little late
Get blood results for DD2 - Done
Should tackle my bedroom heap. no hope
Chilli and Lemon Meringue Pie for tea done and disappeared
Evening of taxi-runs for DS, DD4 to clubs Done x2 - Still 2 More
Do cross-stiching while DH is shouting at watching Chelsea play football. Will be soon

Results for DD2 confirm glandular Fever. Yikes!!! Trying to stay calm. Dr was brill, as always and very reassuring about my concerns. I will be taking one day at a time. She was well enough to argue today, so must be feeling better!

Managed to make a total idiot of myself yet again embarrass myself today! I had just sat down for a 10 minute break to watch the end of "come Dine with me" when the tv went funny again. Swearing about pigeons, I grabbed the broom from the kitchen to strategically shove where I needed to, went flying out the front door like a mad woman only to come face to face with a work man, who seemed a little bemused and explained that he had just had an accident and cut a cable that may affect our house! I quickly had to turn the up-turned broom and mumbled something about sweeping the front path. He looked at me as if I was a total loon and walked off. I then proceeded to sweep the path, just to keep up my story, before skuttling inside as if I sweep my path every day and it is the most natural thing on earth to do while it is drizzling and freezing cold outside! Do you think he sussed me?? I think maybe it is time to put the house on the market and try and be a "normal" neighbour somewhere else. Soon there wont be any convincing these neighbours of my sanity! I now need to buy a new kitchen broom too, after sweeping pigeon poo up I can hardly now sweep my kitchen floor, can I???

I hope you all have a good evening. HUGE need for a very large quantity of wine orange juice (just for SC ) tonight.

swanriver · 24/02/2010 20:58

PA I am just waiting for the day when I am locked out my house, in my nightie, doing the recycling at 8.00am
I think your behaviour sounds perfectly normal to honest, even citizen like

Is the glandular fever something that lasts a long time - I'm very sorry but glad you have such a nice doctor backing you up

this evening has been a classic example of trying to pack too much in, and end result,
3 tearful kids (well ds1 is still chipper) and tearing hair out mummy
Had to bring all kids to Beavers as they have no volunteer slack, and ds2 (always a bit odd at Beavers tbh), managed to put dog mess all over the Scout Hut, which we only noticed near end, and then had to mop the place with bleach, AND I was taking an extra kid home. Ds2 cried all the way home, his shoes are in the bin.
Dh hs decided to be in a state about work, probably justified and still not back, the children are having a fit because he's not here...

anyway have just had some chilli, going upstairs again to putfearofgod-- sing lullabies again to them
Wednesdays are not good here

elliepac · 24/02/2010 21:01

evening all,

all very quiet here tonight, i am sure that is because you are all busy cleaning !

Morning routine done (I was actually washing up/tidying/puttingwashingaway at 7.30 this morning!!!!!)
FInish Mount Washmore tonight doneyippeeeee
Mission haven'tevenlookedatit
Evening routine (2 days on the trot and counting....must be some kind of record for my lazy bones)done
Lots of school work sortof
Cook dinner (didn't manage this last night we had soup )done

am feeling quite pleased with myself after falling off the wagon so spectacularly at the end of last month, am now really getting back into it,and remembering that these bloody routines do actually work!

dd was obviously fine at the cm's although she refused to have a nap and eat anything!

pa actually did lol at your broom incident! wine is definitely on the menu here (sorry sc) mm 1 in the morning . i know you are looking forward to being our esteemed leader but jeez lady take a break!

mcdreamy a very warm welcome. ignore what pa says, she doth protesteth too much, time will show who is the crazy one (have you read her post tonight about chasing workmen with brooms because she thought he was a pooping pigeon...i rest my case )

feetheart hope you are feeling better soon, take it easy.

om tesco!!! lol!

to all of you are talking about thunderbirds and john noakes' bum you are not doing sc's insistence that we are all strange any good! .

am going to pour a very large glass of wine and watch some cheesy tv while marking exam papers. have a good evening!

elliepac · 24/02/2010 21:02

oops, x-posts with swan...have some wine mrs river, you sound like you need it.

optimisticmumma · 24/02/2010 21:32

Talking of Blue Peter, wasn't it a model of Tracy island??? I don't remember John Noakes' bottom I'm afraid, I preferred Shep!

Elliepac - you may well scoff at Tescos - actually you can because guess what? I didn't make it!!

PA enjoy your glass of wine - you deserve it! I think your 'one day at a time' policy is the only way to go...

Hi and welcome McDreamy

Looks like everyone's had a productive day. See you all tomorrow...

elliepac · 24/02/2010 21:46

om we all know the tesco's trip is overrated and we all hate it so no shame there.

MiniMarmite · 24/02/2010 23:59

Evening All

Here are the links for tomorrow morning (only a few minutes away depending on how much gossiping I do)!

Babystep: www.flylady.net/pages/bbd25.asp - a reading one today

Mission:
www.flylady.net/pages/FlightPlan_Missions.asp

As for decluttering (15 minutes per day), we are still in the Master Bedroom.

I hope you all have a great day, I'll be checking in at lunchtime if I can tear myself away from my work computer

PA oops, did not have that early night - I've just got home from a fab dinner with friends...I agree with the fact that I should have had an early night though as I thought that you had actually made a chilli and lemon pie...interesting dessert! How is DD going?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MrsD - enjoy the last few minutes of it! I hope DD is feeling better.

Swan your evening sounds rather hectic - I hope you are either tucked up in bed or enjoying a well-deserved drink.

Glad DD was fine at the new CM Ellie, those first few weeks of any change are always traumatic for us them aren't they? I don't think DS has quite settled back into the routine of going to the CM since the Christmas break, even though he adores her.

OM there's always time for Tesco another day ...I now have a great incentive to go to my local supermarket as they have started selling gu hot choc in the cafe. I went there this morning just to buy a loaf of bread

Hope your cold isn't too bad feetheart x

Well done on doing 2 classes at the gym EllieA...just what I should be doing but never seem to get around to it ATM.

Big waves to SC, DEM, PMPY, Tibni and anyone I have inevitably missed.

QueenofDreams · 25/02/2010 00:08

Hi ladies can I join (again) I started in November I think, but got derailed by being given notice to move out of our house (two weeks before christmas) anyway, we're moved and the new house is naturally a disaster zone. Been here 3 weeks and it's a tip already and I haven't even finished unpacking
SO back to square one with the sink shining

MiniMarmite · 25/02/2010 00:10

Overslept massively today so there's a good start eh?

MrsDinky · 25/02/2010 12:29

Afternoon all,

Welcome back QoD, nothingmuch has changed here, although quite a few of us seem to be going off the rails a bit this week with all the Blue Peter stuff, dog poo and pigeons (PA - the important thing is - did you get your telly working again?). Last year the water people accidentally cut our phone line, we had to have the drive dug up and the whole thing re-laid it was a tad annoying but our phone reception and broadband speed have been much improved and it didn't cost anything.

Well, I spent the rest of yesterday alternately doing washing and cleaning up puke, in between managed to watch quite a bit of telly. DD is much better today after a good night's sleep.

So far today I have cleared clothes piles and junk from bedroom floor - the junk is all DH's, so I have just dumped it all in a cardboard box on his side of the bed, but at least I can hoover now. Have also dusted most of the surfaces in there. Stopping for lunch now. Will post a list tomorrow, will post a list tomorrow, mutters and shuffles of to attend to a washing mountain.

MiniMarmite · 25/02/2010 12:53

Good afternoon Everyone,

Just checking in quickly. All I have done today is make the beds tidy the breakfast things and put some washing on as I am working today.

Hi teamcullen - good idea to just keep up the morning and evening routines when you have a busy week.

That looks like a busy day Swan - we have a veg box too. Thankfully they tell us what will be in it a few days in advance.

Ellie you sound like you have everything under control!

QoD - you must have needed the sleep so maybe a good thing .

I like your strategy with DH's stuff MrsD I must try that myself .

I'm off to do some work now.

Have a good afternoon .

swanriver · 25/02/2010 14:05

So far:

friend for coffee - she dropped in did I call her by pyshic powers to rescue me?
watched Blue Peter Tracey Isle model several times with sick dcs(wow Anthea was young) but now I see you are all much younger than me - I was in my 20's in 93

mopped kitchen and diner floor, expunged cat pee areas

playroom (not done)
washing done
laundry not put away - waiting till bathtime

some homework done too

Queen sleeping in does set one up for rest of day though

Mrs Dinky ah dh junk in bedroom - hours of fun there here ifyswim

swanriver · 25/02/2010 14:07

minimarmite they probably tell us what's in our box too, just nevr get round to things like that

also done - written some schooly dates in diary and threw away the bts of paper that haunt me

MrsDinky · 25/02/2010 14:30

Don't worry SR I was in my 20s then too, I only knew about this because it was on a Blue Peter anniversary programme last year. John Noakes was more my era (oops, here we go again).

feetheart · 25/02/2010 16:45

In your 20s in the early 90s, you Spring chickens
I do remember John Noakes, Peter Purves and Valerie Singleton and advent crowns, and 'Come on Shep' and making Dougal (Magic Roundabout) from a washing up bottle and wool. Still feeling grotty so definitely feeling my age today (grumpy old woman emoticon)

PositiveAttitude · 25/02/2010 16:54

SR I was in my late teens then, so slightly younger, but I am sure there was a "younger" version of something very similar when I was about 10. We didn't heve a tv til I was 9, so after that, obviously. Either that or I was very late developer and was watching BP when I was 17!??? Nice to know I am not the oldest on here!

MrsD - Off the rails? MOI??? No, was I ever on them?

Today is my day off, so supposedly I catch up on a week of housework and sort everything out..... hmmm ....well, after 2 weeks of soothing fevered brows I am not feeling like doing a lot, so haven't! . I know I will regret it tomorrow, but hey.

So today i have:
S&S
Steak pie in slow cooker, just about to add pastry.
Washing x2
Drying x1, so far
Gone to sort out money between banks to pay this months bills
soothed fevered brow of DD2 - well, asked her how she is today!!!
Taken DD3 out for her weekly "granny run" - we go for a drive, have a drink at a cafe and she says she feels like a granny and we come home
Read my book
Caught up with a few phone calls.

Not exactly Agie today, am I??

Where is SC - missing her. Hope you are ok.

Hope your trip was good MissB.
Waves to everyone else.

Have a good evening. I'm off to a meeting (probably boring!) so will catch up tomorrow.
