Welcome one and all!

Here you can do any of the following:

  • repeat or start baby steps (again!)
  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering

This is what it's all about - Babysteps each day to try to get some order back into our home with LOADS of support from our regulars.

So join in! We start this thread on February 1st, but you are welcome to dive in at any point in the month.

its still a work in progress. getting there. will be late as ds is up and down again. bless him he is not well. but it does mean everything takes 12 times as long. Hope you are all sleeping well.

DidEinsteinsMum · 20/02/2010 03:48

ok sorta done emailed next weeks plans ages. it has been the suporting files (power points etc that have needed doing and have taken the time) done most and emailed. Looked at week after next for lesson plans too. Need to deal with a review thingy, weekly eval, and essay plan over the weekend. Plus missing powerpoints, and one lesson plan that seemed to have escaped. Oh well, off to bed for a bit of shut eye. Got an easy day planned tomo. taking ds to MOSI in manchester. He loves it and needs minimal parenting when there. Only downside is he will need taking in the buggy as his asthma is bad. he really is getting to heavy at just 5yrs but no other way really. Have lovely weekends catch up at some point.

droitwichmummy · 20/02/2010 07:03

Good morning everyone!

Hope you got some sleep DEM and enjoy your day - v appropriate as today is Family Fun Day!

Great babystep today. I have slipped a bit here so this in timely for me.

No mission as it is the weekend but the are Olympic missions !
you can clean out your car
and/or sort out your handbag
AND you can do some walking or pretend skiing

Enjoy....

morning everyone. went awol yesterday as was babysitting all day for best friend who had a dd in hospital for a day procedure and a dh recovering from a hernia op the day before so was tending to both her dh and other 2 dd's and my two! was exhausted, how those of you with large broods cope i do not know!

Quite a bit to do today as am determined to have clean and organised house before work on monday. so list looks like this-
maintain downstairs
washing
our bedroom
clean car out

doesn't look a lot but bottom 2 are truly massive jobs.

dem i feel your pain where lesson planning is concerned. am supposed to have written/prepped a scheme of work over holidays and have not put pen to paper yet.

scyou saying i'm strange
feetheart happy birthday to dd

ellieanne welcome to the madness! i've been here since september and still fail miserably from time to time but it really does make a difference. good luck and enjoy the thread
big waves to the rest of you fab fledgling flyers, am off to get started on the washing.

missbennett · 20/02/2010 08:49

Hello everyone! Didn't get back last night because ended up in A&E with DD1 who was poorly - had slept all day but looked dreadful and being awake=being sick . So took her up - 'tis a urine infection but she was so dehydrated that she had to have a drip to sort her out. Luckily worked like magic Headache and sickness gone. And she's insisted on going to work today! Not sure she should have but equally good to be willing to go

So I didn't get much done as didn't get back til gone midnight! Did do a load of washing but no shopping or anything else

Today?
-weightwatchers
-menuplan and shop
-Guides thinking day event all afternoon
-ensure sorted for Sunday school tomorrow
-ensure all homework done for school on Monday (start this one at least!)
-hoover?

Enjoyed catching up with the thread. Well done mrsd on avoiding cheese so successfully - it's very hard when it's on a plate in fromt of you!
Hope everyone else has got their Hama beads in order!!

See you later

PositiveAttitude · 20/02/2010 08:56

Good morning everyone.

Feeling far more like myself today. Cold did eventually appear and DCs all grotty too yesterday, so a very floppy, drippy day. DD2 has terrible tonsilitis (dripping white pustules on her tonsils! Yuk!) But hopefully short lived and abck to "normal" for me today.

Welcome to EA - now thats going to be confusing isn't it? (Ellie and EllieAnne - so can I shorten you to EA????) SC - Hmmmmmmmm. I am strange then? You obviously know me soooo well. - and in bold, just to shout it out to everyone!

Teamcullen - Glad you like your GP. Mine is absolutely fantastic and when everyone moans about no home visits and the treatment they get I always feel so grateful for our fantastic, lovely, caring GP. Last May/June DD3 was particularly unwell (longterm, but bad spate) and GP came round home 4 times in one week to see her without being asked to. - paediatrician also up there in my estimation, would "pop in" on her way home and see DD.

Feetheart - I hope you feel fully recovered today.

Ellie - Hope you have recovered from your manic day. People often used to say to me "How on earth do you do it with them all?" It is not as if you are thrown an extra load of kids one day, just like you were yesterday, it sort of creeps up on you over the years as you add one, then another, then another, and another and another! But life often feels like a whirlwind.

Made a birthday cake for a friend today, so need to ice that.
Need to get on top of the washing pile
Shopping for school shoes for DD4
Try a new curry recipe I have just found on the internet. -yumm
Do the naan recipe and may be a little adventurous
Enjoy the day with family before back to the routine on Monday.

Now a lot of flying planned for today.

A quote for you all - not quite camus, but saw it, liked it and thought of you lot:

" The brain is a wonderful organ; it starts as soon as you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get to the office" - Robert Frost.

Have a good weekend everyone - all you strange lot

PositiveAttitude · 20/02/2010 08:59

MissB - X posted. Sorry about your DD. Glad she is feeling so much better now. Teenagers can be so stubborn cant they, but a good work ethic is definitely to be applauded.

MrsDinky · 20/02/2010 09:25

Morning all,

Have indulged in a lie-in and now feel all behind, but DD had a bad nights sleep and DS needed the toilet at 3am, it is downstairs and he can go by himself but always wants permission first, which is sweet in the morning but not at 3am when you've only just got back to sleep anyway. Did clear my entire sewing pile last night, took an hour and a half (swimming badges on towels, elastics on new ballet shoes etc) but am pleased as it had all been sitting there for months.

Today:

Fix woodburner
Washing, DW, swish etc
Hoover front room
DS finish thank you letters and do some homework
Get out and about somewhere, blue skies here this morning

MissB - poor DD hope she is OK at work
PA - poor DD2 - yuckeroony as my DCs say, hope she is better today, glad you are.
EllieP - it's been bad enough here looking after DH who had day surgery on Weds, and my two DCs, you have done your friend a big favour by the sounds of it.

See you later.

elliepac · 20/02/2010 12:22

ok, so plan for the day has changed. today we are going to play a game of 'how much of a head can one dh be' which will then be followed with quite a lengthy game of 'how long before dh admits he's being a head and apologises.' place your bets please, my money is on teatime at least. aaaaaaaaagh!

elliepac · 20/02/2010 12:27

oops not enough stars for relevant expletive, please insert your own!

pushmepullyou · 20/02/2010 12:53

on your behalf ellie*

Mine is notably not contributing to any housework or finances or indeed helpful conversation about what to do this weekend.

Weekend flying tasks for me are

hoovering upstairs
hoovering downstairs
ubiquitous washing and dishwasher
proper sink shine
supermarket
empty bins *4
clean out freezer
go to tip

teamcullen · 20/02/2010 13:06

Good afternoon everybody. SC thanks for the certificate ad feather duster Feetheart hope you and DD enjoy your craft day PA Yes a good GP makes al the difference. We are lucky that we have Alder Hey just down the road, so at least the DCs have always been in good hands when things have been more serious that a bout of antibiotics. MissB Hope your DD feels better.

I finally got off my bum yesterday and done most of my list.

Didnt get round to striping the beds, but I did strip the bathroom wallpaper and gave it a good clean afterwards.

Quick list for today before I take kids out.

Washing machine on
Dryer on
clothes away
sweep living room floor
swish and swipe
morning dishes away

See you all later with an update

PositiveAttitude · 20/02/2010 14:04

Only came on to copy out the naan bread recipe, cos I lost the copy i had earlier in the week, but felt I had to say sympathies to Ellie. I would not put bets on teatime if it was my DH. My bet would be on me ending up smoothing things out cos he would not recognise that I was actually **ed off with him!!!

Hope your day gets better.

Now where was that link to the recipe........

MiniMarmite · 20/02/2010 20:57

Evening All,

Sorry, I have been away again, RL has been a bit hectic/heavy the past couple of weeks, still feeling a bit 'lost' but I'm getting sorted now I think. Thanks for all the "hello" and "how are you?"s, much appreciated. I am trying to change job but within the same company and I've had a couple of people say that they would love me to work with them so feeling a bit more positive about that and still trying hard on the baby front !

Had a lovely day with DS and DH today - walk/swings/ducks in the morning and then we made biscuits this afternoon. Aren't the simple things just the best?

Well, I'm hoping I haven't poisoned myself and, more importantly, DS this evening. I took, my first bite of a sausage casserole that I had reheated from frozen and realised it was not quite right...DS was already merrily tucking into his of the slightly nauseous variety...not sure how it could have happened but DS has learned how to open the freezer drawer recently.

We're just about to watch a film but had a good evening so far in that DH put DS to bed and then went and hung out the washing and folded away the dry washing without me having to ask. Meanwhile I gave the kitchen a thorough clean and washed all the floors downstairs. Good to be able to relax in a clean and reasonably (but far from perfect due to my recent lapse on the decluttering front) tidy house.

Welcome to the newbies teamcullen and EllieAnne

PA (love the Frost quote by the way) and TC am quite that you like your GP - mine is not great and it means I put off going to the doctor which can't be great! I guess I should change really instead of moaning about it!

MrsB I hope DD1 is a little better today, that must have been frightening x

DWM I took a bunch of tissues out of my car the other day but not sure that counts . I have done some walking though . Thanks as always for keeping us going.

Talking of Olympic Missions...has anyone tried the chicken flying on the Wii fit plus? It is hilarious, especially after a glass or two (and quite appropriate for fledgling flyers)!

Seems a lot of the little ones have February birthdays - happy birthdays !

I'm off to look for that naan recipe now...

Big waves to PMPY, MrsD, SC, Ellie (hope you're ok, I know you've had a tough few weeks), Mmmango, OM, Feetheart, WCTR, Tibni, MrsGok and anyone I have missed.

DidEinsteinsMum · 20/02/2010 21:12

waves at minimarmite just ot confuse her

MiniMarmite · 20/02/2010 21:32

You did too! Just for a second though

elliepac · 21/02/2010 06:31

Morning all. couldn't sleep and the cat had somehow got into our room and has been licking himself since 5 which is the most infuriating and disgusting sound there is so i gave up and got up.
Dh actually only took 3 hours to admit he had been an idiot which is something of a record but by then the day was ruined...grrrrr. So today am going to take advantage of being up before the larks and get cracking. We are going our best 'couple with dc's' friends house for sunday roast this afternoon so i want to be all tidy and ready for tomorrow before we go. list looks like this-
tidy/clean downstairs/bathroom/dc's rooms
ds homework
iron uniform etc
prep packed lunches
washing
schoolwork

dem you are a little tinker trying to confuse mm

mm lovely to have you back. am fine thank you, still a little stressed but coping. your day yesterday sounds lovely, it's the simple things isn't it

mrsd you have unwittingly answered my question on what to do with ds's first swimming badge that he received this week thankyou!

missb hope dd is feeling better.

Anyway had better go. big waves to dwm sc pa pmpy feetheart elliea mrsgok mmango and anyone else i've missed.

Mmmango · 21/02/2010 07:07

EllieA - getting dressed first thing makes a huge difference for me - I remember on mat leave after dc1 it always seemed to be bottom of my list of priorities. This way I get loads more done - and I'm not shamed by unexpected visitors I also tyr to leave it as long as possible before turning on puter in the morning as I have no willpower and can't seem to turn it off again once I start...

Am very curious about feetheart's dh's present - you'll have to tell us about it after he's opened it!

dem - that was a late night friday/ saturday - hope you're recovered.

We sort of did family fun day - went to visit the outlaws, so 'family' anyway!
Pretend skiing

House suddenly seems very quiet as both dc's are napping simultaneously! Result!

Sorry to all the sick people and sick dc's, we're all suffering a bit over here because there's a lot of slash-and-burn agriculture and it's burning season. Quite dramatic at night, when you can see all the mountains on fire, but really not good for lungs (dc's) and sinuses (me). It seems to get worse every year, too

No list for today, cba. Is it the bedroom from tomorrow? That's still our worst room by far (apart from the junk room that's so bad we don't even mention it, of course)

droitwichmummy · 21/02/2010 08:14

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone's various DC and DH are improving today. I joined the casualty list yesterday - we were out for the day, I broke into a run and something went ping in my leg - OW! so hot bath and bed when I got home. Much better this morning (elastic bandage all night) so washing is on at least.

Staying home today - apart from going somewhere for lunch (not PIL today) so will potter about in desultory fashion although really should let DS's school trousers down.

As it is Sunday, it is renew your spirit day!

Easy babysteptoday.

No missions today, olympic or otherwise and Mmmango you are right - master bedroom next week

As there are no flylady mission today I am going to set you one! We have 1 week left of February and I assume we want to carry on into March so we need a name. The best I have so far is Fledgling Flyers Marching into Spring. All suggestions welcome - there might even be a prize

OP posts:
droitwichmummy · 21/02/2010 08:15

Oh and we had more snow overnight. Want it to go away so DS doesn't keep asking 'mummy how many days are there until spring?'

OP posts:
EllieAnne · 21/02/2010 08:59

Morning all

Seems there's lots of poorly people about, hope everyone's improving.

PA EA / EllieA / Oi you, any are fine with me I'm just getting to grips with this talk lark so please all bear with me, if I don't reply to you I'm probably being a bit thick just

mmmango Didn't succeed with the getting dressed first thing yesterday or today, but dd1 was up at 5am and that was just too early - same today, but I will get there Once she's back in her routine I can plan to get up before she does (She's 8m and was poorly in Dec which has left her with a horrible cough, she hasn't really slept since then and has taken to 5am starts! )

T'internet is my downfall too and I managed just a quick look yesterday morning and that was it, but have to watch myself especially now I've discovered mn....

I have been spurred on with the whole flying thing though - Am loving how much the sink can make a difference to my state of mind! Have got my morning routine together and evening is getting there which has made a huge difference the last 2 days and got me in the zone for being more organised. I actually got loads done yesterday and took dc's and dog to beach and had dinner on the table by 5 and went to bed proud of my house! [smug]

All great timing as mil is visiting today and I don't have to run around like a loony preparing

So plan for the day (oooh not done one of these yet!)
Morning routine done - yay!
Two more loads of washing
hoover, sweep and mop downstairs
Proper bathroom clean x2
Cook early roast
Make sandwiches, cakes
Last minute dash checking house is mil friendly
Smile for two hours
Check uniform/homework/lunch money
Evening routine

Have a good day everyone

feetheart · 21/02/2010 09:04

EllieAnne - at 'Smile for two hours' Good luck!

teamcullen · 21/02/2010 11:03

Good morning all.
Its snowing here today, DS2 is outside making a snowman

Im not looking forward to tomorrow as its back to school routine and Im scared that all my flying is going to go to pot So my mission today is to print out a very basic morning and nighttime routine which I can laminate and hang up. I dont like the idea of Flylady's joural, Id just shove it in a corner and loose it under a pile of dust and papers!

Morning routine before flying:

get up at 7am
yell at DD to get up
have tea and breakfast
yell at DD
yell at DSs to get up at 7.15
sit down again
yell some more
jump up at 7.30 to make packed lunch
yell wave goodbye to DD at 7.40
tell DSs that no way on this earth that they have been washed and send them back upstairs.
7.50 DSs finally dressed (in a fashion) and having breakfast
get myself ready for work
8.10 shout at DSs to put shoes, coats on
8.15 shout at DSs to put shoes, coats on put packed lunches in bags
8.20 leave house
8.25 return to house for DSs glasses, homework, packed lunch etc...
9.00 arrive at school 5 mins late and stressed out.

Please help me sort out my school day routine.

Today Im going to

clean the living room
swish and swipe
de clutter hall
brush and mop through
iron uniforms
panic that my routine will go to pot

DidEinsteinsMum · 21/02/2010 11:06

Not going to be about for a while. I need at break from mn and internet and life is going to get very, very mad around here as of monday. will come back when i am ready. will think of you all as i run round like a loon. will try to keep you flying but as i have fallen again it will be back from the beginning.

Keep well.

droitwichmummy · 21/02/2010 12:25

Best wishes for RL DEM.
We will miss you and you know where we are when/if you are ready to come back. I'm sure there will be pleanty of us still on the babysteps x
